Lian, Batangas

Pros & Cons: 1) FOOD inside the resort is pricey. We ate lunch at the resort on our first day and it cost about P4,000 ($84) for 4 adults and 4 kids COMPARE to P500-600 ($12) if you eat outside the resort. The food is nothing special I'd rather eat outside the resort. I highly recommend either Mang Gener or Beth's Eatery which is just outside the resort on the main road. They will accomodate you and even take your order for breakfast, lunch and dinner ahead of time so you don't have to wait and the food is ready when you arrive. In addition, there are LOTS of stores near the beach outside the resort that also cooks food if you don't mind home-cooking. 2) STAFF are not friendly as they should be. A few will greet you and the rest won't. 3) POOL is a pretty good size and even heated at night although you will need to go to the restaurant if you want to order drinks or food. It was hard to get the servers attention when they were at the pool. They don't look around to see if someone needs something. 4) ROOM our executive suite is pretty big (see pictures). The drain in the bathroom was slow to go down so from the time you finish your shower your feet are soaked and it took two days before it was taken care of when I recommended to pour Drano on it. You may bring kitchen stuff if you'd like as other than refrigerator, there is nothing else in the kitchen. 5) BEACH is nice but the bottom has lots of weeds on it and jelly fish. 6) A/C was on and off on our last day.

Unique Quality: Overall, facilities and pool are good....great views, I don't know about that. GO OUTSIDE THE RESORT FOR FOOD, BANANA BOAT RIDE, JET SKI, FLOATING BAMBOO RAFT AND OTHER ACTIVITIES FOR CHEAPER PRICE. THE RESORT OFFERED P1,000 ($21) TO RENT THE FLOATING BAMBOO RAFT FOR A DAY BUT WE GOT IT FOR P500 OUTSIDE THE RESORT. ASK FOR KUYA CHITO ANZALDO IF YOU NEED A GUIDE. HE HAS A STORE, HIS WIFE COOKS GOOD FOOD, HAS A FLOATING BAMBOO RAFT AND WILL BRING THE FOOD TO YOU WHILE YOU'RE IN THE WATER. HIS STORE IS LOCATED JUST OUTSIDE THE RESORT IF YOU WALK FROM THE BEACH SIDE. YOU CAN ALSO JUST DRIVE DOWN THERE AND BOOK YOUR HOTEL THERE. THERE ARE LOTS OF ACCOMODATIONS OUTSIDE THE RESORT. WE WISH WE KNEW. KUYA CHITO AND THE REST MADE OUR VACATION UNFORGETTABLE NOT THE RESORT. THEY ARE VERY NICE PEOPLE AND WILL DIRECT AND GUIDE YOU.

The Matabungkay Beach GetAway

At first we were turned off because of their cancellation policy, seven days is quite an undesirable period could have reduced to two-three days.
The Beach Side Suite that we reserved was located at the farthest side of the resort. It is very dark though lighted. The place has the smell of a very old house. The bathroom is located only downstairs which is indeed not suited for people with knee/joints issues. There are plenty of mosquitoes and bugs and the place is so dark at night, so scary to pass through on your way to your quarters.
We were given a room at the third floor which is much appreciated. However, one wonders why can it be used for grilling and not for cooking.
We were treated with complimentary breakfast but with limited choices. I hope that they can also look into the food they serve esp with the corned beef. I was not so keen on the brand they used.
Generally, all went out well and was one smooth sailing experience.

Unique Quality: The room we transferred to was bigger and is value for money. The staff is accommodating and friendly.
The assigned boatmen are also friendly and do not insist on their boats and rides and are also very accommodating.

Batangas Beach for Outing

by menph

We are looking for a beach resort to accommodate 60 pax for a day trip. Budget would not allow us to go to exclusive places like Punta Fuego. We have been to Munting Buhangin and Matabungkay Beach Resort. Would like to have another location this time. Would appreciate recommendations on resorts in Matabungkay, Nasugbu, Caliraya, San Juan and other towns we may not be aware of. Working budget is P600 per pax for entrance, huts and food. If we could bring food, then P300 for entrance and huts. Thanks a lot

Try Caliraya Recreational Center in Lumban, Laguna.. A nice place for bonding, team building and other recreational activities. Try to visit their website at www.caliraya.net they have various packages that suit your needs. you may also contact them at 632-1010 Local: 423-425. We went there last November 2006 and we enjoyed our stay. They only charge us 880 per person that includes, accomodation in duplex house, swimming, boat transfer and 3 buffet meal. We really enjoyed our stay there!
