Nipa Huts: There's no place like home...

Having trouble sleeping in the city to sounds of traffic, noise and congestion? Would you rather to fall asleep to gentle sounds of chirping crickets, tiny croaking frogs, and a rustling creek in the distance? Then by all means, forego the hotel experience and head for the peaceful mountains of Bukidnon, Philippines.

Sleeping in a genuine, bonafide Nipa Hut is an experience one must have at least once in their lifetime. It may not necessarily have a built-in bathroom, nor even running water. But, there is usually a water source nearby, such as an outdoor water pump or a running river nearby. Imagine the experience of pumping your own water...not just turning on a faucet and turning it off. But to grip the handle of the pump and utilize your man-power to extract the precious liquid from the source gives one a feeling of strength and satisfaction. And a mattress? Nope. Just the cool feel of rugged bamboo floors against your skin, along with a thin cotton sheet should the cool evening breeze kiss and caress you goodnight.
