Is it Butuan or Bhutan? By Bhutan, I mean a small Buddhist country nestled between India and China.

check with the airlines the schedules change all the time. It is about $100 US for round trip. A ferry is about 2/3 days. Or fly to Cebu and overnight ferry to Butuan (Nasipit). 20 min ride to city center from pier. sorry cant remember the price of the ferry.

Butuan

"Medical Mission"

I only had a short stay in Butuan as my visit there was work-related. We conducted a Medical Mission for military and police retirees and pensioners and I was the one who coordinated the activity with our branch office there. I didn't have much time to see what Butuan has to offer travel-wise. Although Butuan is in the Mindanao area, the place is actually quite peaceful. Very common sight though are trucks loaded with logs.

"Tha Agusan River"

Coming from the airport to the town proper you will see the Agusan River. Since it was raining a lot when we were there, the water was quite brownish. This could be caused by erosion due to excessive logging.

"Suspension Bridge"

You will pass through the Agusan River through this suspension bridge. I was told that this bridge is the longest suspension bridge in the country.

Butuan City

"Butuan City"

I have been traveling to Butuan since 1996. It is a nice little city with friendly people. Area is completely safe for foreigners. Foreign women may want to dress moderately due to the fact it is the norm for women there not to show much skin. Otherwise, you will get stared at by every man around. Butuan recently built a mall where you can get all the western trappings that are in most malls. Butuan city is limited on choices for food that some of the larger Philippine cities have to offer.
