Vines Pension: Cheap accommodation

We stayed here for 2 nights. Their rooms are ok. Clean and airconditioned. My only complaint is that they do not have windows. Can be claustrophobic for some.

The location is great, a bit far from the noisy center but it's still near enough to walk.

Standard Double - PHP650
Junior Suite - P850 with LCD TV :)
Suite for 3 - P1000

Breakfast is at P50 per plate but the cook is terrible.

Middleton Apartelle

We stayed in Middleton during our trip to CDO last Feb 17 - 19. We booked one of their 2-story apartelle units for 1800Php per night. It has 2 bedrooms 2 baths a small living room, dining area, kitchen, terrace and a dirty kitchen. It can comfortably accommodate 7 people, though you would need extra beds since the rooms only have 1 bed each. However, the hotel is not located in the main street so you need to have a cab pick you up if you're planning to go out. The units look a bit run down, like it was built some 10 - 15 years ago, and needs some improvement specially in the bathroom since drains tends to clog after some time They also have a pool which is a plus.

Nature's Pensionne: Decent price and better location

This is a typical hotel - nothing special, not too bad. One thing to watch out for is they have some particularly noisy rooms due to the disco right across the street that runs to 3 am.

Also, the walls are kind of thin so you may be impacted for late nighters or early risers

noisy neighbors

Lamar Inn: Lamar Inn

The facilities were okay you have your basic T&B, your own TV, AC and a comfortable bed.
The rooms are very cheap twin sharing for a tourist room starts at 650 per night.
The front desk is located at the second floor.

The employees are very helpful, since this was our first time there we asked the front desk aout the places we could visit and they directed us to tourist hot spots ^^

Executive Pension: A Nice Place to Stay if you are in a budget

My sister and I reserved for a twin room with 2 single beds for only P575/night. The room has been newly-renovated. The beds are comfy and so do the linens. However, there are quite a few inconveniences: (1) there is no window, (2) the bathroom has no exhaust and (3) the bathroom floor near the lavatory is forever wet because the water is not draining properly due to elevation problem. Apart from the 3 problems, our stay is nice. We only uses the room for sleeping, changing clothes and taking a bath because we are always on the go.

Executive Pension has a great location. It is near the downtown area. It is very near the Vjandep Bakeshop which sells the Pastel (Buns with Filling) from Camiguin. It is clean too!

For its rate, I could say that we had a great value for our money.

Grand City Hotel CDO: Awful Front desk Experience

I used to stay in this hotel a lot because it was affordable until I was treated very, very rudely by a front desk personnel last December 08. I wrote a complaint to the hotel admin and even wrote to the hotel and resto association of CDO (I firmly believed I was treated unfairly and disrespected). I got 3 replies from the hotel association but never - not one - got a reply from Grand City itself. I am never setting foot on that hotel again and will NOT recommend it to anyone.

Location.

Mallbery Suites: One of the BEST hotels in Cagayan de Oro

This hotel is comparable to any Hilton I've stayed in. It is relatively new (less than 2 years) and the owners really got it right. The room was large, modern and comfortable. Cable tv, A/C, pleanty of hot water, clean, well maintained and with a GREAT staff. I have read many reviews and people make comments like "the staff was attentive" but in this hotel the staff was OUTSTANDING!!! They made every effort to make me feel comfortable even when I left and stayed elsewhere for a few days.

When I returned to CDO the hotel was booked for 2 of the nights I wanted to stay and I know that they went to great lengths to accomodate me, I was very impressed.

For those who can't live without a laptop, the entire hotel is wireless!!

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience here. It was just great!

Hotel is wireless internet througout.

At 1800 php the price is very good and includes a buffet breakfast which was good every morning.

THE STAFF!!!! Hey Hilton family - stay here and see what great service is really like! You're not bad, but these guys have you beat.

St. Bernadette Dormitory: saving grace..

The place was just right for what you pay for, but it was our saving grace at the time. We did not really have a booked accommodation to stay at. After our supercat travel, soaking wet and salty, we reached Cagayan De Oro city hours later than the eta coming from the last beach hop in Mantigue Island, Camiguin. Inded, it was our saving grace.. for the 17 of us, no comfortable lodging was available based on the inquiries we made. Out of the will the help and the desire to have a restful night after a very looooong trip around Camiguin, I felt motivated to go through even the smallest, tiniest corner to get a place even just for a night. We found St. Bernadette from its sister hotel. Thank GOD!

It is the only dormitory I know that accommodates both men and women in one room. Usually, dorms are exclusive for one gender. Well, this is an exemption maybe. It has all the facilities expected in a dormitory.

The VIP Hotel at the Heart of the City: Affordable big rooms

Normally, I would judge a place by the size and ambience of their lobby, but after my wonderful experience at Microtel, which has a cute lobby, I would wait until I see the rooms.

We were greeted by a very nice doorman and a very helpful guard(I saw more of the guards than the doorman, but it's OK). The people at the front desk were very accommodating too.

The lobby is small, but I remembered Microtel's lobby to be smaller, so it's OK. They serve food at the lobby and there's a pianist there from time to time.

All of us got the Business Class room because they had a promo(check their website) until December this year. When we entered our room, we were pleased to see that it was clean and so were the bathrooms. They provided water and coffee, but there was no mini bar. Breakfast wasn't included too, but we were very near convenience stores, restaurants, and other establishments, so it wasn't a biggie.

I felt a little giddy. My first ever nickname was Vip (It's rhymes with zip) and I was with my former choirmates(VIP choir).

...and yes, that made staying at The VIP Hotel extra special.

Like what I mentioned above, The VIP Hotel is near everything. As their logo states, it's at the heart of the city, so whether riding a motorela(a trike with a carriage), a taxi, a car or by foot, you would reach the places of your choice easily, unless it's in another district.

Amenities of the Business Class room 44 (Old, but maintained)rooms: (less than PhP600 per person until December, minimum of 2 people...ergo, a little less than PhP1,200.00/room)

Fully Air-conditioned Room
Cable TV
IDD/NDD Telephone
Hot & Cold Shower
WIFI Internet Access
Hot Beverage Utility Set

Same amenities for the VIP Class(12 rooms), except for the fact that the rooms are newer. Regular rate: PhP2,800.00

The Junior Suite costs PhP3,200.00++ (The hotel has 4 Junior Suites) Newer rooms

Fully Air-conditioned Room
Cable TV
IDD/NDD Telephone
Hot & Cold Shower
Minibar ++(if you drink the contents of the mini bar)
Hot Beverage Utility Set
Hair Dryer
WIFI Internet Access
Dining Table and chairs

Executive Suite @ P 3,800.00++ (New rooms)
4 rooms available

Fully Air-conditioned Room
Cable TV
IDD/NDD Telephone
Hot & Cold Shower
Minibar++
Hot Beverage Utility Set
Hair Dryer
WIFI Internet Access

The Middleton: Middleton Apartelle

The Middleton is a unique place in CDO, the staff when I arrived was very helpful and went out of there way to help with any request. The rooms are a bit basic, I stayed in the Honeymoon suite for the entire time that I was there, it was 1,800 Php each night. The room did have the hot and cold running water, the drains did have a small tendency to back-up a bit, due to hair clogging the drain. Otherwise there was no real problems with the rooms, the air conditioning ran very well, and kept the room at a good temp. It is slightly off the beaten path, and you will have to take a taxi to most places in CDO, but with the exchange rates the way they are, it's really no problem. There are the small shops just outside of the main gated entry, there is security 24 hours a day, and it's a very quiet place to stay when in CDO.

They do have a pool which is maintained each and every night, and the staff is available 24 hours a day without a problem. If you want a Burger at 2:30AM, they will deliver to your room without a problem, and help you with what you need at any hour of the day. Most everything that you need is within a short walk, or perhaps a trike ride from the front gates. BDO is just across from the market, and there is a convience store just up the street, for almost all of your needs.

Discovery Hotel: decent but dated city hotel near Limketkai

Accomodations are old and food ain't that great. Its Really a fallback for when the nearby Mallberry Suites is full and you need to stay near he Limketkai area. for an additional 200 pesos, i'd say you'd be better off getting the "deluxe rooms." Bathrooms need thorough cleaning to get rid of grime and water stains.

it doesnt have an elevator. its a three floor hotel. Its really for the budget business traveller. No wifi
