In the middle of CBD
We booked a Deluxe room for three adults for one night at the Astor hotel. The room size is slightly cramped after adding an extra foldable bed into the room I can't imagine how cramped it'll b if we booked a standard room instead. Perhaps we were also too used to the spacious rooms we got at the other 2 hotels we stayed during our 5 days trip in Manila & Puerto Princesa. The breakfast variety is good, from local food, sushi to waffles. The hotel staffs were very patient and professional when answering our questions and with arranging for our airport transfer (3700pesos including tolls and fuel charges) from the hotel to the Clark Airport (2hrs). The hotel is located around the corner from the main road, Makati Avenue, in Makati city, therefore there can be quite a bit of traffic jam during peak hours. Within walking distances, there is plenty of eating and night life available. If you want, you can also take a 20mins stroll to SM Makati, Hard Rock Cafe for some shopping or to the Ayala MRT Station to other places in Manila.
Unique Quality: There's a small indoor pool in the hotel.

astor hotel is near dining establishments and chill out bars. the nearest shopping area is the rockwell plant which i think is 5 minutes walk. glorietta/greenbelt malls are around 10-15 minutes walk or you may take a cab (or a jeep for a philippine experience).
for day tour within manila, go to intramuros (walled city), baywalk (best during sunset to early evening), and i'm not sure but i heard nayong pilipino is now open. it is a park that showcases prototype of popular philippine sites (similar to the hague's maduro dam).
for day tour outside manila, go to tagaytay (taal lake and volcano) or corregidor island.
