Not quite so good as you would expect

Stayed in Dusit one night, together with my wife. Rooms are clean and big enough, we rented a club twin room. The room has complementary internet access via LAN (no WIFI). Staff is sufficiently friendly but not extremely so. The club room came with access to the "club lounge" but that was a farce. For the same amount of money you could spend a very luxurious night in the Shangri la Hotel (just across from Dusit). Had a "personalised" breakfast in the Tosca restaurant in the morning but that was also not really up to the mark. When the bill was presented a questionnaire that the staff had already filled out (everything marked as excellent!) was included with the bill, and we obviously did not sign that. All in all a bit of a disappointment.
If I can choose I would prefer Shangri la instead.

A Slice of Thai Hospitality in Manila

superb remodeled hotel in the heart of the Makati Financial District.

one of the more budget friendly four star hotels in the Makati Area. The Dusit Thani hotel was formerly a Nikko Hotel Manila and was acquired by the dusit group of hotels thailand in 1990's and was renovated and is now one of the cheaper four star hotels in the makati area. The facilities here are excellent like having a san miguel bar, one of the luxe japanese restaurants in Manila called Umu (see my umu food tips) and is literally just across the street from the Ayala Center of Malls (Glorietta), Rustan's and SM Shoemart.

Unique Quality: they have average sized rooms but are very comfy. since the renovation, the rooms are now equipped with LCD tv's, internet connection, other amenities like large king or double beds and the usual mini bar and mini refrigerators. Again the rooms here are way smaller than the other hotels in makati like the Makati Shangrila or the Peninsula Manila but has a homey feel in it.

Five-star hotel in Makati

by Penelope4 about Dusit Thani Manila

I wanted to pamper my Father so I booked a Club Twin Room and paid additional PHP 1800 for extra treats.

In the evening, we enjoyed live music at the lobby/lounge. Very nice - ambiance and cocktails are tops.

Valet service was provided which was a great help as it is difficult to find parking space in Makati especially at peak hours.

A lot of friendly smiles welcome everybody at the lobby. Personalized check-in and check-out at the Club Lounge located at the Mezzanine Level.
Complimentary Buffet Breakfast (elegantly served)
Complimentary sodas, premium coffee and specialty teas from 6 am to 10 pm at the Club Lounge.
Complimentary beer, wine, hors d'oeuvres from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Dusit Club Lounge
Complimentary use of Internet in the room
Fruits in the room
Complimentary local calls to landline within Metro Manila
Complimentary local and international newspapers
Access to the fitness centre and outdoor swimming pool
10% discount on all Food and Beverages outlets in the hotel (except roo service and minibar)

Hi,

I am looking for a hotel to stay for two nights, can anyone help me on which one is a nice place to stay aside from shangri-la, it's lovely hotel but it's too expensive for me.
I was looking on Dusit hotel or intercontinental hotel, any suggestion is very much appreciated.

Thank you.

Both Dusit and Intercon are located within the same shopping district, in fact the SM department store stands between them. Either hotel is a good choice.

Dusit Thani Manila (the new name) currently has discounted rates at 95US with breakfast from a travel agency (google and you'll find it). Its a good deal since this hotel has been newly renovated,a friend of mine stayed there just last late last year and was impressed with the new changes.
