Mandarin Oriental: Close but not too close

The hotel has a friendly staff - the friendliest I've seen in the Makati area. the hotel is clean and has good food. If you love chinese, go to Tin Hau. If you want to have a cool drink with a friend, there's the captains bar. For the freshest bread, Mandarin deli has that. Even for someone in Manila, I love staying in this hotel.

The ayala avenue (where glorietta is) is just a 3 to 5 minute walk away from the hotel. It has a pool, bar, and buffet almost the whole day. it is the nearest hotel to citibank and there are public transportation available right in front of the hotel.

Mandarin Oriental: excellent cuisine!

This hotel is inspired with Chinese ambiance. Though it is not that big, the lobby is not that enourmous, the hotel serves very good food. The service is friendly and fast.

Big appetite, try their buffet on special occations. Try their relaxing Spa too.

The Peninsula Manila: It's a Classic!

This hotel has been at the corner of Makati Avenue and at the stretch of Ayala Avenue. It's cascading water at the corner has been a mark for ages. They have remodelled that facade design last 2003 yet it still has the cooling effect when you see it

It's a classic! The design and sculptures makes you feel like in a castle of the classical times, where the king & queen, the princes and princesses dance in a ball. There is usually a piano playing at the lobby. You might see a glimpse of cinderella when she walks down the aisle... so just hang around.

Makati Palace Hotel: Great Place to stay

Ive stayed at Makati Palace both times i went to the Philippines. This is a nice hotel. Its not equivalent to the Peninsula or Shangri La, but for the price, you really cant complain. When you first arrive the doormen and security help with the luggage and assist you with whatever you need. The front desk staff are courteous and very helpful as well. The lobby is medium sized but has nice architecture. The first time i stayed here my room was pretty big, alot bigger than expected. I believe it was on the 27th floor. The Second it was about average size, but its still good enough. Some of the floors have been recently renovated. I think the first 9 floors have central AC now and the other rooms have individual AC. They both work the same so it didnt really matter to me. The rooms are nice and cleaned everyday. The pool is on the 28th floor. its a pretty nice pool and there is a cafe there too, so its a great place to chill. I like the location of the hotel. Its not right next to the malls but its a short taxi ride away. It costs around 60Php to get to greenbelt / glorietta and Rockwell Powerplant. Its on P burgos street which is a nightlife street. There are a few bars, a 24 hour restaurant, 24 hour internet cafe, a hookah cafe, laundry all on the street or less than a block away. Its also a short drive away from the fort. This Hotel has Safety deposit boxes, ive used them both times, its safe. There is also a Spa on one of the top floors, a KTV bar on the top level and a great japanese restaurant on the 2nd floor. I really have nothing bad to say about Makati Palace.

Mandarin Oriental: An Aged Beauty

I'm a fan of MO. Everything ran smoothly as my expectance, probably the same to you.
*Hollywood Twin beds in room
*East meets West
*Personalize greeting and answer from high level, after dropping back the in-room survey
*Gentle touch Interactive from staff
Yes, it's Mandarin Oriental.

For U from Wstern Countries:
U must visit "Tin Hua", the Chinese Restaurent. for its charming decoration and food. It's a shortcut to learn more about Orient.

The Peninsula Manila: An Elegant Hotel of Taste

My choice was Premier Suite located at Makati Tower wing. It is a 88 sqm-sized corner room and with independent dinning/sitting room of course. Most Pen residents who make their reservation via offical web site has at least one way M-Benz limousine. As you know, this is the best way to depart than the "Jeepny".

The "Spices", a SE Asian food restaurant offer outstanding cuisine. The decoration is lovely somewhat unique. The dinning pavilion is glass-enclosed and surrounded by a pond water. There is also a fountain indoor, with fresh flowers on the table, a cup of milk... How an ideal way to begin a day at the place! Forget the Nielsen's, Spice is much better, I think.

Saint Illians Inn: Friendly Good Quality Service

The first room they gave me had a leaky seal on the toilet. The repairman was there within five minutes. When he could not fix it right away, they immediately moved me to a bigger room on the same floor.

Saint Illians Inn: Good Value Hotel in Makati

I stayed at the Saint Illians Inn for two nights in Apr 04. A very clean, air conditioned room with hot shower was 1350 pesos, an excellent value for that area. The staff were friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast that came with the room was just toast and coffee. The menu prices were a little high but I ate out anyway. This is a nice little hotel in a very convenient location.

Upstairs hallways are open air and the back staircase is a spiral staircase to all floors. One disadvantage is that there is no elevator.

The Manila Peninsula: The Pen

Another picture of the upper lobby within the Peninsula hotel. In the evening they play from here very entertaining string and piano music.

The sound is beautiful and so relaxing after a busy day.

Centrally located in the business district of Manila, ample parking space, many nice stores, excellent bakery and a very good barber shop in the basement.

The service inside the lobby is attentive as I know from way back in 1975.

This year July 2005 I can recommend this hotel as I did when I was a resident in Makati

Shangrila Hotel, The Oakwood,...

Shangrila Hotel, The Oakwood, The Mandarin Hotel, The Manila Peninsula. Those are the five star hotels but for the economical traveler, you can City Gardens and the other one infront of Greenbelt...(hold on please,i'll check on the name)

Excellent relaxing ambiance and good hospitable service. Besides that, they also serve sumptious food in their own creative way. Mandarin serves mosly chinese stuff, the Shang a variety, and the Pen is good with pastries.
