Now known as New World Hotel

The location is great! Opposite the road is the stretch of shopping -- Green belt shopping area, SM Malls, Landmark. Just get a good walking shoes!

The hotel has been renamed (not sure if there was a change in management) so you cannot find Renaissance anymore but New World. The hotel is big with nice breakfast buffet spread. However, the room access can be frustrating. It still uses the old slot in card and so it has magnetic strip which you must not put your room card next or near to your mobile phones. Also, removing the card too fast or too slow might not help to open your room. Sometimes it is just luck! The pillows are too soft for me and I have to put 2 to have a good night sleep! It does not have wifi (except if you are nearer to the club floor which is at 24th floor) and it has only cable wires which is not ideal for your phone or if you want to do your work on bed or sofa.

Food is very good here. I usually have room services and they serve good salads, brownies, soup and wine selection. The service is generally great.

A good conference place and staff with big hearts

Our company had business meetings here and we had a good experience...the food is great and we were served well.

Unique Quality: One of the members of the St. Francis de Sales Hearing Impaired Foundation Inc. , Pia Nolasco (she works here/Sales), spearheaded the project (Christmas Party for the Joseph Gualandi School for the Hearing Impaired found at Tropical Avenue, BF Homes Las Pinas City, near Southville International). The staff live up to the Marriott motto: Spirit to Serve and they really have big hearts... they prepared a lavish feast for these kids...preparing loots bags, gift items, food, programs etcetera, etcetera.

About the hotel:

25 floors, 598 rooms--luxurious, spacious rooms including 28 suites, 1 Deluxe Suite, 1 Presidential Suite, 300 non-smoking rooms and 8 rooms for the handicapped. Each elegantly appointed room provides:

Individual Temperature Control
Television with Cable access that includes CNN, NBC, ESPN, French, BBC, Chinese, among others, IDD Telephone , Mini-bar ,Guest Room Safe, Hair Dryer (very important for women---hehehhe), Coffee/Tea making facilities (can't live without them--hahaha), Choice of piped-in music

1 level concierge, 16 meeting rooms

A swimming pool (for leisure only...not for olympic swimming meets)

Where the action is

It's a favorite choice of businessmen and families who want easy access to posh Greenbelt and Glorietta malls, fine-dining restaurants, Ayala Museum, and cinemas.

Spacious room with a view of Greenbelt park and yuppies who dine in the numerous fine dining restaurants or who party the night way in hip bars.

Unique Quality: Spacious lobby
Swimming pool
Tight security
Wide selection of breakfast buffet

Renaissance 2006 Stay

I just recently stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in Makati. The hotel and people were great. From check in to check out...everything was prompt and enjoyable. Everything is in walking distance. Greenbelts and other shopping areas. A must for tourists...

Classic

This hotel is in Ayala Center in Makati. It's just across the Greenbelt 3 mall. I stayed here in April 2005. It's a good, comfortable hotel. Colors and lighting are muted.

It's a very short walking distance from the Ayala malls so it's very convenient. The view, especially in the evening is very nice, overlooking the chapel, park, and illuminated by the mall lights.

Unique Quality: Convenient location.

Renaissance Makati City Hotel (Part 2)

Personally, I enjoyed my stay at the Renaissance Makati City Hotel and would recommend to anyone who wants to stay at a good hotel in the Makati area. I paid about US$105 (excluding taxes) per night because I attended a meeting at the hotel.

Another thing you need to take note is that the security guards are rather strict about taking photos of the hotel lobby. They will allow you to take if you are inside the photo, but you cannot take photos without anyone in it (I managed to take a few photos before the security approach me).

Renaissance Makati City Hotel (Part 1)

The Renaissance Makati City Hotel is a very good 5-star hotel located at the heart of the Makati shopping area. In fact, the Greenbelts shopping area is just next to the hotel, and the big Glorietta shopping complex and Landmark shopping centre are just across the road. The Ayala Museum is also very near.

The rooms are very cosy and the upper floors have great views of the skycrapers of the Makati area. The breakfast is great with lots of variety, including the smoked salmon (and other smoked fishes) which are very delicious. Most important of all, the staff of this hotel are very courteous and helpful. They will make it a point to greet you when they see you, and are extremely helpful.

The only downside with hotels in the Makati area is that security is very tight. Whenever you enter the hotel main door, they need to scan you and your belongings. Please go to part 2 of this tip.

Great location!

Pros:
It'a been a year since I stayed at the Renaissance Makati Hotel. When I stayed there I booked it through the marriott official website since it was owned by
Marriott Hotels and still is. I got good rates of $114.00 dollars a night. Even
breakfast was included. They just replaced all the beds with their "heavenly"
beds. Location was great since its right accross from the mall.

Cons: Too bad its not part of Starwood Hotels. Therefore you cannot get points rewards for Starwood but only Marriott rewards points.

Great location and value, Club Level perks

by TripAdvisor Member MuttleyMiles

First of all, for the price you pay, you get a lot at the Renaissance Makati (I'm used to paying US$150+ at the Courtyard where I travel!). The rooms are above average, the bathroom with its separate shower and tub was nice, and service I thought was also above average. Having stayed at several Four Seasons properties, you can't compare the service, but you also can't compare the prices as they are typically 3 to 4 times as expensive!

As a Marriott Gold member, I was able to get access to the superb Club Level, where fresh fruits, made to order omelettes, and other tasty items were available at no charge in the morning. It was nice taking in the view of the Manila skyline while enjoying a fantastic breakfast. I loved the automatic espresso machine there! Internet access on the Club Level was also complimentary, however, it was down on a couple of occasions.

As other reviewers noted, the location is excellent, with restaurants and shops all around the hotel. The beds were comfortable (I was upgraded to a Superior Deluxe) with just the right amount of firmness. Overall, the hotel is great bargain, and if you have Gold or Platinum status, it's even better!

Location, location, location!

What the Renaissance Makati has going for it is a great location. It's right across the street from Greenbelt Park which is a series of shopping malls with mid to upscale brands, dozens of cafes, clubs and restaurants, service outlets (e.g. beauty salons, couriers, dry cleaners) and cinemas. Another large shopping area, Glorietta is a mere 5 minute walk away.
I stayed in a deluxe room which has 2 twin beds. In terms of size the room is pretty standard, smaller compared to the hotels built earlier, but not cramped at all. In terms of decor and ambiance, it's a bit ordinary. Not that it's tacky or bare, maybe just a bit lacking in character. The hotel has recently changed its beds, duvets and pillows, and having stayed here before, I find the new bedding definitely more cozy and comfortable.
Service is efficient and prompt, housekeeping requests were attended to quickly. The breakfast and lunch buffets offer dozens of options -- filipino, continental, chinese, japanese and is at par with hotels of similar standard. I booked an event at one of their function rooms and required a special menu for this. The Renaissance's Executive Chef was very gracious and gave us numerous options within our budget which were all so delicious that it was difficult to make the final choice.
Overall, the Renaissance is the best choice among the Makati hotels in terms of location. If you are looking for convenience and accessibilty, this is the place to stay. However if you're looking for the wow factor -- something more distinct, impressive and/or different, there are better choices in the area.
