There's so much history in this wonderful hotel. It was built in 1912 so you would think it is a raggedy, rugged or dilapidated place. It's not. We've slept here several times and celebrated many parties (if you celebrate your party in one of the facilities, you get to stay for free or have a big, big discount). I love the soft pillows, the ante rooms, the 24-hour room service...we get to have our very own Mr. Belvedere even just for a night. During the Pope's visit to Manila, we stayed here and my friends even went up to our room/s to use our bathroom (some stayed to eat with us---heheheheh). ]
It's so near many, many places...the Baywalk, Intramuros, Rizal Park, Quirino Grandstand, etcetera, etecetera. INHOUSE DINING FACILITIES: Cafe Ilang-ilang---whenever we hear the first mass at the Manila Cathedral, dad brings us here for the breakfast buffet Champagne Room-If you want to dine in style, this is the place to go Cowrie Grill- Seafood! =) Lobby Lounge- listen to good piano music, wine and dine... Pool Bar--Wanna celebrate parties big parties al fresco? This is THE place! etcetera, etcetera =)

 | Palm Plaza Hotel: Thanks to Milenyo...

Somewhere in the hotel...(fake landscape) by nixca316, 2 more photos I'm not really happy that the super storm Milenyo visited Metro Manila and the whole National Capital Region had a massive power outage considered as a black out for several days. Since we're Makati afficionados, we would've liked to stay in a hotel, hostel, pension house, inn or whatever else there...but you know what, even the most seamy place was fully booked in Makati...then we shifted to Manila. All the good places were fully booked. Thank God I know Adriatico like the back of my hand (because of teaching Speech Empowerment). During the SEA games, some the delegates from the neighboring countries stayed at the Palm Plaza hotel (you wouldn't miss the ultra large banner) so when Hyatt Pedro Gil (where we ate our snacks) couldn't free a room for us, we went to the next best thing...Palm Plaza. Sure, it wasn't anything like the Manila Hotel, the Manila Diamond, the Pan Pacific or wherever else, but the service was good and later, I will talk about Cocoy's, their main restaurant. =) (My pictures are mostly of Cocoy's) Don't look for a room with a view...
Friendly staff =) Not heaven on earth, but it's the next best thing! (you might wonder why I placed my solo pix here...it was taken inside the room when I was so bored before going to Robinson's Place...As I mentioned, sorry, the other photos are of Cocoy's) Hotel Amenities: Laundry/ Dry Cleaning Service, Common/Public Areas Accessible to Wheelchairs, Currency Exchange, Room Service, Multi-lingual Staff Room Amenities: Air Conditioning (In Room), Newspaper (Free), Refrigerator,Telephone Television (Cable/Satellite), Non-Smoking Rooms, Television, Kitchen/Kitchenette, Mini-Bar Leisure Activities: Pool (Indoor), Health Spa/Massage, Pool (Children), Hot Tub, Bicycling Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: Pedro Gil Cor M Adriatico St ErmitaPhone: +63-2-5213-502Directions: From Luneta, Take Roxas Blvd, turn left at Pedro Gil (where you will see Hyatt Hotel and Casino) after the stoplight, it's there on the right

beautiful lobby filled with beautiful people by Wild_Orchid, 2 more photos The most luxurious hotel room I've ever had the pleasure to stay at. Beautiful & well-appointed rooms, and magnificent bathroom. Full set of toiletries, fluffy bathrobes, high-quality white bedlinen. Luxurious lobby area and atrium filled with flowers galore. Staff are very polite and helpful. The spa, swimming pool and gym were perfect for relaxation between business meetings. Free internet connection (bring your own notebook and just plug it in-you can even ask for a cable if you did not bring one)
Large, luxurious and beautiful room and bathroom. The spa had the hottest and also the coldest plunge pools I've ever encountered - awaken your senses by dipping in the super hot pool, followed by a quick plunge in the icy cold pool. Alternate between the hot and cold, if you dare! The lobby is always a hive of activity where locals and business travellers meet at all hours, but rooms are still quiet. Highly recommended for the business traveller. Footnote: There is a uniformed butler all dressed in white on every floor. He provides security and service to you & is at your beck and call. | Manila Pavillion Hotel: Newly Refurbished
Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | |

New Management, Newly Refurbished. Since 2006, the Manila Pavilion Hotel is under the Management of the Waterfront Group of Hotels. The hotel is historic and also strategic. It is histtoric since it was one of the oldest hotels in Manila and strategic since it is near the tourist attractions like Luneta Park, Intramuros, Quiapo, Rizal Park. The Manila Pavilion Casino was also renovated from the then smoke filled, crowded 2 floor area to a 3 floor modern and spacious area offering lots of entertainment.
Besides the Casino (Gambler heaven!), nearby Seasons Cafe serves eastern and western cuisine Buffets for you to feast on especially after a win on the Casino!. Guests can also relish sumptuous Continental cuisine like Prime Rib Steak and Chateaubriand Steak and Steak Tartare (hey I'm a steak man see!) in an elegant setting of the Rotisserie Restaurant. The Boulvar offers a diverse range of local and international dishes, which includes appetizers, desserts, beverages and cocktails for you to enjoy. The expensive Chinese Peony Garden at the second floor also offer elegant chinese specialties. Pavilion has 549 rooms all with mini-ref, mini bar, cable tv and broadband internet connection. | Sofitel Philippine Plaza: Now Known as Sofitel Philippine Plaza!

Sofitel Philippine Plaza is a grand hotel which was formerly managed by the westin group of hotels but in 2007, management changed to the Sofitel group. It is the only "resort" hotel in the Metro Manila Area and is situated in the historic manila bay reclamation area and offers spectacular golden sunset views of Manila Bay. fully refurbished, the rooms are spanking new (see my pictures) and are large! the bathrooms are also large and a come on here is that it has many pavilion rooms for any occasions like conventions, meetings and air-conditioned tents also used for weddings and large parties. it has the best poolside in the manila area. Another thing going for this hotel is the Spiral restaurant (buffets at 1,200 lunch and 1,699 dinner) which has multi-food stations that rivals the circles cafe and heat cafe of the shangrila group plus the good ole Siete Pecados Bar. You can also gamble here since there is a small casino branch of PAGCOR inside the complex.
the large and grandiose rooms, the numerous function rooms for any activity, large air-conditioned tents and also it offers free shuttle bus to SM Mall of Asia, which is the 3rd largest Mall in Asia (about 3 kilometers away) that comes every 30 minutes. the rooms starts at $ 100 for standard and about $ 140 for twin. This is a convenient location between Quezon City and Makati, and so is perfect for "balikbayans"/Filipino overseas workers who have relatives at both sides of the long Edsa Avenue. But the most enduring thing you will remember with this hotel is the woodwork, specially at the dining area which offers excellent Filipino dishes (including lunch and dinner buffets). The effort in bringing such aesthetic woodwork together is great. We got a unit which had 2 floors, the only problem being that the stairs are somewaht small and too steep inside. Not really good for the disabled. But the hotel has very good security and you can park your car inside the complex. The price is also very reasonable compared to the other high rise luxury hotels.

Bianca's Garden is a small, friendly place located on Adriatico St, Malate. There are (I think) just 11 rooms - 4 in the main house and the rest set around a little courtyard outside. There is a small bar, garden and swimming pool, and a friendly atmosphere. The manager, Jupiter, is very helpful, and can arrange things like money changers and flights for you. The in-house restaurant is pretty good, and they'll even order you a pizza if the kitchen is closed. Bianca's is not the cheapest place in the area, nor is it the most luxurious, but the friendly service keeps me coming back every time I visit the city.
The terrace and pool area is a big selling point for me, and the hotel is a popular stop-off point for Boracay regulars.
