Thank you ladylued. I am a small sized Asian only 5'6" tall, but the bed shown in their website looked very small. Anyway they have replied and told me that every standard and deluxe room has a Single bed 36" x 72" and a super single bed 48" x 72". Have you been to this hotel before ? They quoted me Peso 1600/night.

what street in malate is this? there are a lot of pensionne houses in that area.

alternatively, you can try checking cherry blossom, malate pensionne or friendly's guesthouse; they have gotten good reviews here in VT

Thank you joysweet - real sweet of you. I got a friend who checked it out and highly recommended it to me. I will write a review of it after my trip. Seems the hotel is extremely well kept, clean and helpful - at least to my friend. Oh yes, the price of P1600/night includes breakfast for 2.

Hostel 1632 is located at 1632 Adriatico St, adjacent to Zamboanga Seafood Restaurant. I stayed there for 9 nights and found it ok. The place is clean, the doormen, security, everybody is polite and helpful. The rooms are a little small and has 2 separate beds, one a 3 ft wide and the other a 4 ft wide. Bathroom is small. There is no swimming pool.

Hotels for $60 and under in MALATE

by fittguy

Okay, It's obvious that Malate is the happening district in Manila. Now, I need advice on where to stay. Looking for a hotels in the area. Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

I usually stay in the ERMITA area of Manila. This area is close to Roxas Boulevard, not far from the U.S. Embassy.

Lots of hotels in all price ranges in this area. Close to the Robinson Mall, easy walk to the MRT, casinos, stores, shops, restaurants and bars.

I have used the City State Hotel and the Lotus Garden, both on Mabini Street. I got the hotels at a discount through a local nearby bar

Another hotel in this area is the Cherry Blossoms Hotel which is right next to the Robinson Mall.

Other cheaper, discount type hotels also available in this area from around 1000 pesos on up to 1400 PHP. Hotels in this range also have hot water, private toilet, air and TV. (Stone House B&B on Mabini and the Soriente Hotel on A. Flores are two that come to mind.)

Good luck.

you can try mabini pensionne house which is right at remedios street - step outside and the bars are yours to choose :)

mabini street might be a bit noisy if you plan to stay in during the day (say you will go out at night and rest during the day)

cherry blossom might be a good idea if you plan to do some shopping. the mall right next to it has a lot of good restaurants in their new wing.

you might also want to check hostel 1632 at adriatico street - gotten a bit of good reviews from some friends who have stayed here

the Pension House in Adriatico St in Malate is a good one. Actually, lodging houses around Malate are pretty cheap. :) I kept thinking about this hostel but I cant remember sorry :D but that one is really nice. Haha. So my post is pretty useless LOL

Nice Hotel !!!

by pgthompson

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel for one night that's near the airport, also any information if they do pick up and drop off.

Many Thanks,

Paul.

Re: Nice Hotel !!!

The nearest hotel to the international airport (terminal 1) is Manila Airport Hotel. No need for transpo pick up/drop off. If you won't be bringing much luggage with you, you can walk to the hotel from the terminal for about 2 mins. Nothing fancy, but I heard the hotel is clean.

Hi,

Manila Airport Hotel is nearest but why not get one that's nicer? Check out Sofitel Hotel it is not too far away and much nicer.

From the airport the hotels you will be passing thru are the ff:

(You'd need taxi for these hotels though)
Heritage Hotel, Hyatt Regency, Sofitel Hotel, Trader's Hotel, Grand Boulevard Hotel, Pan Pacific, Hyatt Casino hotel & Diamond Hotel.

I'd go for Sofitel, Hyatt Casino, Pan Pacific & Diamond Hotel.

Heritage is pretty decent too.

:)

Exchanges from another travel forum on Manila Airport Hotel (approx. a mile away) are not favorable (all categories) even for a night stay only. Taxis are plenty. Why not try Hostel 1632 on Adriatico in Manila (apparently run by HRM students, albeit small rooms and if really on tight budget) OR Best Western Astor or Jupiter Arms hotels both in Makati (approx. 20 minutes from Airport).
