Now is called White Knight Hotel Intramuros

I visited this hotel once in February 2011 and the staff said that is formerly called Hotel Intramuros de Manila. They have this new restaurant Coco Bango Cafe with acoustic band playing nightly.

Stay within the walls of Intramuros

Unique Quality: Great location for those who are on a whirlwind trip to Manila and plan to fit in some sightseeing. The Hotel is a part of the San Luis Complex where you can find the Casa Manila, amongst other attractions.

Within a short walking distance are the San Augustin Church and Manila Cathedral, shops, cafes, and the Rizal Memorial Park.

Shopping advice

by littleman

Hi everyone
I am travelling to Manila in a couple of weeks and staying in the Ermita/Malate area.I am looking for a store where i can buy security/spy type cameras etc.I know there is a store in QC called the Goodhand but i was wondering by chance if anyone knows if there is a similiar store in Mall of Asia or Makati. Also looking for a specialist bicycle store in these areas as well as i need a bike bag/cover as i do not think Toby's would stock this item.If anyone can recommend a professional dentist in these areas that would also be great. Thanks in advance....cheers

When you enter Robinsons (Ermita) from the Padre Faura side there was a gadget store which had lots of electronics odds and ends. (Can't recall the name.)

Other stores in that mall may help you or advise you.

Filipino Character is like a Bamboo

by machomikemd

There is a popular saying, "The Filipino is as pliant as a bamboo." The bamboo is a tree found in tropical and subtropical regions. It is known for its flexibility and versatility. It can be used in making furniture, kitchen utensils, and other items for practical use.The Filipino character is similar to the bamboo because it has flexibility, endurance, and harmony with nature. It bends with the wind, but can survive a storm. Just like the bamboo, the Filipino nation goes along with the forces of nature and politics. It copes with "fate" rather than fights against it. The Filipino mind is pliant in the sense that it is open to new ideas. Although the Filipino is trusting, he is also capable of standing up for his own beliefs. He will not tolerate betrayal and oppression. Filipinos in general are protective of their hard-won independence, and they will fight for their freedom at all costs.
