Good location, good price

After having spent an hour crawling 7 miles from the airport to Makati, I was more than relieved to arrive in this hotel. The room is not as big as I expected, considering this is a 5-star establishment. Nevertheless, it is comfortable and complete with most necessities. You will be happy to know that all their staff speaks perfect english and are friendly & helpful. Ayala Mall is right outside and you can shop to your hearts delight.

Unique Quality: Not as expensive as other 5-star hotels and the staff are welcoming

InterCon Manila

Got the room on a Priority Club promotion (5000 points for overnight stay). The hotel will automatically upgrade to club room once you have reached Gold status.

Unique Quality: 1. very near the mall (glorietta)
2. club rooms are very very luxurious.
3. bathroom has a bidet - very rare for hotels in the philippines to have one
4. tea and coffee facilities (although they have local instant coffee which tastes yucky, luckly they have steurts tea too)
5. terry cloth slippers are free - 2 pairs in each room

great location

If you want a place within walking distance of Ayala center and SM Makati and the MRT, nothing can beat this hotel. The rooms are a bit old and in need of renovation but the bellboy assured me that renovations are in order this year. Despite the appearance of being a bit run-down, the rooms are quite comfortable and the bathrooms are clean. The staff are efficient and friendly. I would definitely stay again in this hotel if I'm in Makati.

The Intercon

I stayed here twice in 2002 and again in 2005. I've always wanted to stay here because of the reputation it has as being a Manila Institution. In fact, my mom would always tell me that this is the place to grab brunch because of its great food, service and customers.

The first time I stayed here, the service was exceptional. The elevators each had their own person to help you and at every floor there was always a guide/guard/helper. The interior was very reminiscent of the old time Manila Type of flavor. In fact, I loved walking through their hotel hallways because it is paneled with a beautiful wood.

The second time I stayed here, was not as good as the first, but still it will definitely be a hotel that I do not mind staying at again.

I love staying here because its located right next to the Glorietta Shopping Mall and its great restaurants. In fact, in the morning or just before you head back to your room be sure to buy some bread from breadtalk! YUMMY!

Unique Quality: Old time manila favor.

Great shopping as soon as you step outside of the hotel.

Makati's "old" lady

This hotel is almost an institution in Makati. It is the grand old lady before other bigger and grander hotels sprung up. The club downstairs in the basement , Where Else? has been obscured by hipper clubs but for me, it always brings back fun memories with friends...before techno took over.

Unique Quality: very accessible to shopping areas in Makati. great courts for tennis, racquetball, etc.

Manila's most convenient hotel

The hotel location is so convenient, that you can access to SM Mall, Glorietta and Greenbelt within walking distance. The buffet breakfast served at Jeepney Cafe on the ground floor of the hotel is also a thumb up! Highly recommended.

Unique Quality: Access to Ninoy Aquino International Airport is only 30 minutes, that's considered short as Manila's traffic jam is very bad!

Inter-Continental

After double checking with my colleague, I find that we both agree this intercontinental is the worst we ever experienced. As a matter of fact, I think this hotel is an embarrassment for such a prestigious brand name. Location-wise, it's an intercontinental location. But on hardware and services, I can only call it a Holiday Inn. Given various safety and security issues in Metro Manila, I can understand why this hotel chain is very reluctant for further investment. If you are looking for a high-end hotel in Makati city/Manila, you ought to consider other options.

InterContinental Manila - A Landmark Hotel

As I have mentioned in my profile, I am a Hotel Enthusiast, regardless of category level. I find everything about it very interesting - from the building structure & design, to the smallest amenity & simplest service.

In this review, I will share to you OUR PERSONAL LEVEL OF SATISFACTION, base on our experience, by simply rating the amenities and services that we have used and availed during our stay. My rating will be from the scale of 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest). I will also highlight the hotel's outstanding qualities and features, if there's any.

Now, if after reading my review you will find yourself asking; "is it really true?". Well, my only advise to you is, "go check in, and see for yourself..." ;o)

Ratings for InterContinental Manila:
Reception - 8
Room (Double Deluxe) - 10
Room Service - 7
Housekeeping - 8
Breakfast Buffet (cafe jeepney) - 10
Bell Service - 8
Security - 10

Unique Quality: LOCATION - Accessible and convenience best describe InterContinental Manila's location. Situated in the heart of the premiere financial district of the country, it is a stone's throw away from the top business, cultural and recreation centres of the metropolis.

CAFE JEEPNEY - The restaurant serves a spread of Filipino and International favourites a la carte and buffet-style with live cooking and carving stations. My husband, particularly, loved the "pasta corner" in the buffet, wherein one can choose from different kinds of pasta and ingredients, and the chef will cook and season it according to the guests' taste & preference. For me, their danish breads is the best!

More about Intercontinental Manila

excellent, comfortable care

by mtn_bear about Intercontinental Hotel, Makati

Fabulous service -- very attentive and personable. They took excellent care of me, rooms are very recently rennovated and exquisite. Above all, the hotel is just across the plaza from Glorietta Mall, which has excellent shopping. Nice upscale hotel at ~$90US/night

Hotels with heated swimming pool

by jayzelrayos

Thinking of going to Manila/Makati/Ortigas area to do some heavy duty Christmas shopping. Any advise on what hotels have heated swimming pools?

Thanks!
