Makati Shangri La Manila (my new pictures)

This is my Makati Shangrila Tips with the Newer Pictures.

The Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a World Renowned International hotel chain based in Hong Kong. It is the largest Asian-based deluxe hotel group in the region. The group started in 1971 with its first and flagship hotel in Singapore, and now has 49 deluxe hotels and resorts located in key Asian, Australian and Middle East cities with hotel room inventory of over 23,000. The hotel group also has a sister brand called Traders Hotel, established in 1989 to cater mostly to business travellers. In the philippines it has 3 Shangrila Hotels and 1 traders hotel. I stayed in two of the shangrila hotels called Shangrila Hotel Manila which is located in Ayala Avenue corner Makati Avenue.

Unique Quality: Shangrila Manila has one of the best locations for a hotel in Manila and it has spacious and elegant rooms with tasteful decor and a superb bathroom with an extension phone and glass showers. But it gets terribly busy and you don't get your first choice of room type. they provide a great breakfast with a huge choice for the buffet at Spiral and also still have wonderful service. Plus this is the most prestigous hotel address in the Philippines and is walking distance to the Upscale shopping Meccas of Glorietta and Greenbelt and is near the hot spots of makati bars and clubs.

Right in the middle of everything

The hotel is right in the middle of the business district, with a lot of shopping malls located within walking distance from it. It has several restaurants all serving good food, and a bar with good bands playing on nights. Its coffee shop is always full during lunch and dinner, normally non-hotel guests. A lot of eating choices in the malls near the hotel.

Great for overnights, weddings, parties and more!

Yes, yes, yes, I've gotten the chance to sleep here, but whether I do sleep here or not, every moment is a great experience.

I've celebrated my birthday at the Shang Palace with some of my friends and family (separate occasions), I've eaten breakfast buffets, had night caps at the lobby, hosted weddings and other events, attended conventions, etcetera, etcetera.

Unique Quality: Shangri-la Manila is known for their great food and service...

Shangri La Makati

i had to be checked by a doctor and i decided to stay here for 1 night, since they had indoor doctors.

Unique Quality: it is one of the nicest hotels i've ever stayed at. Makati Shangri-La, Manila is located at the center of Manila's most prestigious business, shopping and entertainment district: Makati.
Just 20 minutes away from the airport.

High Class All the Way!

I have stayed at most of the high class hotels in Manila and this is at the top of the list! It's not your best value (that distinction goes to the Manila Hotel) but it certainly is the fanciest and nicest hotel I have ever stayed in! The rooms are unbelievable. I took their weekend rate of $150 plus taxes. Expensive but worth a night or two for the fun of it!

Great hotel location for shopping

The Shangri-Las hotel in Makati / Manila is a great location because of its proximity to the SM mall, just across the street from the main entrance. I believe this is the most expensive hotel in the city, and the amenities were all there. The downstairs restaurant offers a free breakfast buffet every day for two guests per room. Excellent all you can eat breakfast with a wide selection of food to choose from. Security is very tight, there is a K-9 dog in the front entrance and another one by the driveway for the incoming cars. They also wand everyone who enters the lobby, but this is for the protection of everyone because there are shady sheisters that made the news in the PHilippines in recent years. If you love shopping, stay at this hotel because you will find yourself walking back from the mall to drop off your shopping bags, then to walk back into the mall to buy some more. I stayed @ this hotel for 5 days and will definitely consider coming back to the same location.

Makati Shangri-La

I stayed here for 8 days. It is a excellent hotel. the service is great. Always met by the staff with a "morning sir". The rooms are basically suites. Excellent hotel gym. Lots of security. You will get wanded and your bag searched entering the hotel. Also, they have a K-9 dog at the door during the day. The hotel has their own taxi service. I would definitly recomend using it. They have a good rate, and will bill your room if you like. The drivers are all good and know the city well. They are also a great source of info. The hotel has a rate for drop and pick up. They also have reasonable rates where the driver will wait for you. My driver said sometimes he has even been asked to go inside with a client.
The hotel is also in a good location. You can walk to many places to eat. I know there are security issues in the city, but this area seems good. I was never bothered by anyone I would have been afraid of (just got bothered by the guys selling Rolexs on the street). I however am well over sixfoot tall with blonde hair and blue eyes, so I definitly stand out here. The only hassle I had were the girls at night. They can get very agressive. If a girl makes eye contact and keeps looking at you, you can count on her coming and making you a offer.

Unique Quality: Excellent gym. I would say it is on par with something like Gold's gym in the states. Also, very good in house restaurants.

Airport Hotel

Can anyone recommend a good hotel near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport?

Thanks!

RE: Airport Hotel

Manila Heritage is the nearest of the most respectable hotels :) though its just a few clicks away from Hyatt Regency. These two are by the bay with good sunset views and near the Malate/Ermita Areas - City of Manila.

Just a little bit farther but on a different (northward) direction the Dusit Hotel Manila Garden, New World Hotel, Hotel Intercontinental, Shangri-la Makati, Manila Peninsula and the Discovery Suites are all huddled within a few hundred meters of each other at the expansive Ayala Center (a Mall) - Makati City (the Central Business District of the country). Note that the last one is in itself actually situated in the mall. Oh yes, the Manila Mandarin is a brisk walk farther away from all of these but still nearby and also luxurious!

Have a grand time!

I just returned from Manila and while there I stayed at the Heritage Hotel,
it is a nice clean hotel and the complimentary breakfast is as good as you
will find anywhere in Manila, the hotel is a little lacking in the service
department but otherwise a nice hotel.
