Feb 3 is new year's eve in lunar calendar so parades and some dragon dance shows will start on that day. Be prepared for crows though. I beliver that the it will be just a 2 day celebration. Best place to observe the feast is at plaza lorenzo ruis which is infront of Binondo church.

Latin Heritage of Self-Esteem

by machomikemd

Filipinos value their self-esteem, which we inherited from our latin spaniard forebears so never criticize or argue with filipinos publicly. Most men, when so provoked, will fight for the preservation of their pride or self-esteem (Amor Propio), sometimes violently!

Join a Parade (or a procession)

by D._Pepper

Processions are a big thing during the lenten season, peaking on Easter Sunday. You could head for the province (San Fernando de Cutud) where actual crucifixions are held. For the faint of heart, maybe a run of the mill procession like this one in Intramuros will do. :o)

Philippine Lengua De Gato

by machomikemd

Spanish influence is evident in many of the names of local Filipino baked goods, though the actual product differs from the Spanish original, which include lengua de gato, polvoron, leche flan, and brazo de mercedes.Lengua de Gato in the philippines differs in Spain since in Spain it is shaped like Ladyfingers and in France, is called Langues de chat, which are classic French cookies are oval buttery cookies, with a blonde center and lightly browned edges while in the philippines, it's a deliciously rich, tongue-shaped butter cookie. Hence, the literal translation "Cat's Tongue."

The Best Lengua De Gato in the Philippines are made by Tartland Baguio, Based in Baguio City in the Northern Philippines!
