Annexed to Shopping, good location

When travelling with my kids, I always get 2-3 bedroom suites and we were given a very nice one with kitchen, dining and living area. The entrance is not as grandiose as other hotels, but most of the clients here are from out of the country due to the room prices. Elevators bring you to the rooms and security is always watchful of who goes up the elevator -- my brother-in-law and I were carrying small guitars we bought from the park and they thought we were going to solicit money by singing (lol). I should have changed my slippers and wore my expensive Italian shoes...hehehe...but I always prefer comfort. But I guess security is good to have here, specially with this hotel's history of being part of a mini-coup or revolt in the Philippines years ago (when armed military rebels held their ground). But, the hotel is very convenient to shopping in the Makati area and so we bought a lot of stuff and just had them bring it up to our room every time (even pants which I had altered were brought by store to the room since everybody knew where Oakwood was). We stayed there for over a week and the bill was huge, but comfort and safety are important specially with the kids. The breakfast was also very good.

awesome suites

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite - master's and guest room. It also had a little kitchen, a dinning area, a sala set and a laundry area.

The master's area is composed of the master's bath, master's room and a closet. The closet is not too big and not too small. You can walk in, check out which clothes to wear, that sort of closet. As for the master's bath, there's a tub and a shower. Basic stuffs you need are also provided, such as lotion, conditioner, shampoo, bath gel, towels, a bath robe, tissue, weighing scale, toothbrush, blow dryer and a shaver, i think. The shampoo, conditioner and the lotion are a MUST try. Smells really good. :) The master's bedroom is big. I like their bed, the comforter and the pillows especially. I really wonder why some hotel pillows are really hard, which some are not so hard and not so soft - just the right amount of fluffiness. The master's has its own TV set and a DVD player. There's also a broadband internet connection available.

The guest room is smaller, of course. It probably has the same size when it comes to the closet's area. The bed, I think, is almost the same. The only difference that I really noticed was the bathroom. The guest room's bath doesn't have a tub, and that's it. Everything's about the same. Although the guest's bath occupies a smaller area compared to the master's.

The kitchen provides everything and anything you can think of - pyrex containers, plates, soup bowls, coffee cups, a complete set of dining utensils, teflon pans, cups, wine glasses.

The dining table could more or less sit around 8 people. The table is made of wood. It is placed in the area between the kitchen and the sala. Near the kitchen for serving purposes and near the sala,so after you eat you could move to the sala to watch something or talk. The chairs are good, made out of wood but there's a cushion for you to sit at.

The sala is composed of one long couch, that could accomodate at least 3 people, and 2 individual couches. There's a mini component, a cable TV, and a DVD player.

Unique Quality: The buffet breakfast was outstanding. The breakfast area has a TV that shows CNN - well, that was what's on when we had our breakfast. The food choices were WHOA. They have everything cereals, pancakes, salmon, bacon, fruits, juices, congee, sausage, breads, bagels, jams, etc.

Sooooo Accessible

When going on a long duration business trip or going on a leisurely trip with your family in Manila (actually, in Makati), I'd advice you to spend it at the Oakwood Premier (Ayala Center). It is located above the glorietta - one of Manila's large malls.

I just got back from there and had a wonderful time. It's very close to the business district and the commercial district of Makati. What's more is that unlike the other hotels where you can only buy food from their concessionaires and other retaurants, the oakwood allows you to cook food in your room and eat there too. that's because like i said it is a serviced apartment. But, for the same price as a night in a de luxe room of a 4 star hotel, you'd get a 1 bedroom suite with all the facilities you'd need. We had a 1 bedroom suite and along with it came buffet breakfast for 2 adults. sumptuous.

Unique Quality: It is furnished with practically all appliances and utensils you'd need. it even has a washer and dryer in each room. TV in the sala and another in the room, DVD, Home theather system, bathtub, a great view. At the 6th floor, there's a swimming pool and a fitness center. There's a library, jacuzzi, etc. At the side is shangri-la. just below the apartments is the mall. Coffee shops, restaurants, groceries and department stores are just within reach. It is also accessible to the MRT (train) Ayala station. Spas and first class stores (clothing, cosmetic, accessories) are either in glorietta or just a few meters away. Food choices vary from cheap to really classy ones.
