new hotel in Manila

by LEEYL

Are there any relatively new hotel in Manila which is not too far from the airport?

Check out Remington Hotel, Marriott Hotel and Maxim's, all within Resorts World Manila which is across terminal 3 of the NAIA.

You may also wish to try checking out Microtel Mall of Asia, which is walking distance from the SM Mall of Asia. Though not as near as the Marriott, Maxims and Remington (which is yet to open), Microtel is still relatively near the airport terminals.

Travel Tips for Manila

Two things

by pellan2010

Previously, someone said you needed to dress up - don't wear shorts and t-shirts. I respectfully disagree with that. During the day plenty people wear shorts. Maybe if you are going out for supper or out at night, you might want to wear something a bit nicer.

Most people recognize you are a foreigner/tourist and are too polite to stare.

Additionally, I always carry a ziploc bag of flushable baby wipes when I am there. They come in handy in the bathroom, disinfecting my hands or wiping my face. It can be a shock to use the bathroom facilities only to find there isn't any toilet paper!

Most places in Philippines you will meet the TRICYKLE.Its a cheap and fast way to get around on a special trip.In parts of Manila its not aloud to use tricykle as they mess up the trafik to much. The PEDICAP is also a tricykle but without engine (what a work in the heat ! ).

Pay phone

by Xdrive

Need to call back to home to say hello to your mum. You can use the pay phone in the airport.
Local call P1/min, cellphone charges P8/min, international call start from P10/min. This machine takes credit card. ( of course, a bit expensive ), but just in case you need it....

"Pinipig" by Mikasan

by machomikemd

Pinipig (Roasted rice puffs) is a filipino rice dessert made from immature glutinous rice that is harvested and pounded into what look like colorful (depends on the food color or additive) flakes . The flakes are moist and redolent with a fragrance that is simply unique. They are almost the quintessence of rice. These flakes can be eaten raw but it can be also eaten boiled or roasted. Pinipig rice is used for rice-based convenience food products in which no rice ingredients are packed separately and mixed only during heating. It indicates that a significant amount of protein, vitamins and minerals. This version of Pinipig which I like is coated with either chocolate or vanilla. This version is made by Mikasan in Baguio City.
