hello well stayed in townhouse again in march/april 2011 and still a great place to stay. first id like to say hello to krissb it was nice to see you again after all this time sorry me and normie couldnt talk longer . well back to townhouse still great friendly staff who are always willing to help also camilla who is as aproachable as her mom and dad the rooms as always clean and tidy just what you need when youve had a 16 hr flight and just want to shower and crash out.the atmosphere is still great as is meeting many other trvellers over a cold red horse or 2 as has been said if you want cheap shopping go to coastal moll 5 mins away but more uptown you have mall of asia robinsons in irmita and good restaraunts etc .manila bay is a nice nightime walk and also of a day you can pay for a trip on a cruiser around manila bay for about 290 pesos meal extra takes about 1and a half hrs< great value for money>.if you want 5 star sevice your better somewhere elso but if you want to chill from the hustle and bustle, meet nice people and just please your self on a budget then the townhouse is for you enjoy

Unique Quality: local to airport and shopping malls, good public transport on main road wifi cafe inside with bar and close to all amenities.

best budget hotel compared to lonely planet guide

I have stayed there on and off for years since 1996. Of course there are changes but always i found it the best value for money when i arrived from London. Now I have been in California i always use this budget hotel. It caters for foreigners and if you want a five star hotel then do not go there but if yoy want to spend funds on a holiday and not a room it is best deal in manila. I stayed in Boracay and better hotels but enoyed the saving of Bill and Lorna accommodation. I have stayed in aircon and fan rooms when i exhausted my money and it is the cheapest room and safest in manila. What i liked the most easy reach to airport and buses everywhere so you can save on taxis and use lonely planet guide to find your way around singned Don(Dr ex ucla refused Harvard but went to Cambridge U)

Unique Quality: Best access to transport to tour islands in safety

A cozy hotel, has a ''home'' atmostphere to it.

over the past 5 years i stayed here many times, and abit suprised about how bad some of the comments are below, in all honesty, i can only assume those people are fussy people who are expecting big thrills for a low price. The townhouse is a simple cozy hotel, family run, that ive visited probably 30-40 times, depending on how business is doing in and my plans for my stay ill stay in 300 pesos rooms, 500, or 950 aircon rooms. Just remember, you cannot expect perfection when you pay 300 pesos a night. If your going to the philippines to sit inside your room all day then i would say either stay in a aircon room here at the townhouse or check in somewhere else for about $100-120 a night so you have all the amenities. If, like me, your more interested in relaxing, having some fun etc, meeting other travellers, expats etc, then i would definately without hesitance recommend the townhouse. The reason i go back again and again is not the rooms, its the atmosphere and feel to the place. Feels like a big family in there, you can relax and chill out, watch tv in the bar, read books in the library or have some beers with the other travellers and share travel itineries and stories. I always make new friends when i go here, ive stayed in some nice hostels etc on my travels, and on a few occassions been bored, but i always have fun at the townhouse, thats why i would always recommend it to travellers. oh and one more big mention, Mall of asia is right around the corner, you can see it from the rooms, its top 10 biggest mall in the world, LOTS of bars, restuarants (hooters, TGI etc), they have a high end night club there on the promenade, where manilas elite and me often go (you will see alot of manilas models, actresses etc there) a nice promenade along the bay (with security guards so no 1 will bother you here). The other big mention is the bus stop is around the corner, these buses are air con, comfortable and showing latest movies on their tv for about 10-15 pesos to most places in manila, when ever i stay here i pay 12 pesos for a bus to go right into makati (glorietta), this way, i dont have to deal with A**hole taxi drivers and save some money and genuily travel in comfort. I avoided the buses for the first year or so, one day, having no choice i used the bus and it was so much more comfortable than a taxi, taxi drivers in manila can be a real pain, and always trying to squezze and extra 100-200 pesos out of you which gets tiring when your always haggling, plus you have to wait a while for taxis, buses are leaving every 1 minute, you jump on, sit down in a nice comfy seat and nice cold aircon, pay the FARE guy who will come upto your seat, tell him roughly where your going, e.g. makati. then sit back and watch the latest movie on the tv (usually movies that are still in the cinema lol). ok you get the point. lol. kris.

Unique Quality: Next to mall of asia (bars, restuarants, TGI fridays, poker hall, really nice night club, HOOTERS,

Manila's best Budget accomodations

Hello I'm a satisfied occasional resident at the townhouse hotel. Great Value for the price. Those that say those wild things about it must be trying a smear campaign. Very nice staff and clean rooms/bedding.

If you are on a budget its a great place to stay and i never felt unsafe there at all.

Mike

Unique Quality: They have very good food at the cafe and i enjoyed the free wi-fi internet they have in the hotel.
