Transportation to Santo Tomas
by beijinglover
I need to travel from Davao Airport to Santo Tomas. Is taking a taxi the best option?
What other forms of transportation are available.
What about to return to the airport?
Thanks for any help.

are you saying that from the airport you will go directly to Sto. Tomas then back again to the airport?
at the arrival area, there are many v-hire there. just haggle with the driver how much is your fare. ask him if how much is your discount coming back to the airport because am pretty sure they have no passenger coming back from st. tomas to davao city. from davao airport to sto. tomas is around 60kms. via Panabo city DAPECOL route.
hope this helps.

i suggest you ride a taxi from airport to ecoland bus terminal and from there u take a bus. taxi will do also. but it will cost you. the driver would ask you to pay a return ride so your not only paying a ride going to sto tomas but also going back. maybe P1,500 will do
Travel Tips for Davao
Visiting Davao
by ebroguy
Hi there !
Just to put your mind at rest from another 'foreigner' , I have been staying in Davao and Samal Island for the last two months , 16th July - 13th September and I have found Davao city to be one of the friendliest places that I have been in South east Asia ,
The people are some of the friendliest I have ever met and are very respectful and courteous and that applies to all age groups , if you can stomach the local food try using some of the local eateries , there are plenty of Grilled & BBQ chicken places and some great little roadside restaurants , not only will you enhance your experience here you will more than likely meet some good people that can help with travel tips and such like .
However like anywhere in the world and especially south east Asia be Careful , don't carry more money than you need , Don't walk around dripping in gold , never take your wallet out in a public place and hang on to your cell phone!, these tips should be applied anywhere in the world !
My guess is that you are coming here to meet a lady right ? if this is the case don't be surprised to meet the family and the extended family ! and to have to put your hand in your pocket on a few occasions , this is quite normal in Asia , just be sensible and let your lady know in a polite way that you are not a walking 'ATM' and everything should be fine ! .
If you get the Opportunity or would like a few days on your own with your 'friend' then visiting Samal Island would be a good place to go and there are many nice resorts to stay at including Pearl farm and Blue Jazz ,you can easily Google for more .
Hope you enjoy your visit as I have and you can update me on my blog which can be found at : http://go2samal.blogspot.com/ Visiting the beautiful Island of Samal

one thing for sure, zamboanga city and davao are both different cities... davao is far from there...
davao city is the second safest city in asia next to singapore and also the most livable city here in philippines... you can all search it up in the internet...

Explore Camiguin. This enchanting island is rich in rugged beauty. It's main attraction is White Island, a barren island/shoal shaped like a letter 'C' about 500 meter of white sand. Tourists are ferried to and from the island by motorized banca(small fishing boat) with around 10mins travel time. Camiguin could be reached via a 30-minute highspeed ferry from Cagayan de Oro. From Manila, Cagayan de Oro is a little over an hour travel by plane or overnight ferry from Cebu City. Photo:Jessie Casabar **More on my Camiguin White Island Travelogue- CLick HERE**
Sunnypoint
by Iluv2surf2
When we returned to Davao in 2004 to have our wedding for Evelyn's family and friends we selected a private party house/banquet facility called Sunnypoint, in Davao Cit. They offer a package including food and entertainment. It was an organized program.
I had no idea what I was in store for. It was extremely impressive and affordable. We had somewhere around 200 people at this reception and probably 4-500 at the second reception at Evelyn's parents house.
We were presented to our guests my the masters of ceremonies. They interviewed Evelyn's parents and friends for everyone to enjoy. Then dinner was served. The food was extraordinary. It was the best I've ever had anywhere in the Philippines. If you're considering having a wedding reception or getting married in Davao, consider having your reception at Sunnypoint.
Later we toasted each other, let the doves fly free, we were acyually the topping of a giant wedding cake. Later we cut the cake, did the prosperity dance, table hopped, and opened gifts.
Then there was the garter and boquet part. That was the most fun of all. The masters of ceremonies made it fun!
Best Barbecue in Davao
by Iluv2surf2 about Harana's
This restaurant was an incredible value. I bought dinner for 5 adults & 3 kids for less than $25. The food was exceptional and the service was even better!
I loved the fact they had an incredible childrens play area where they could play, as long as they were supervised by someone responsible. It was a great combination! Almost anything barbecued.
