MARCO POLO DAVAO : LIVING UP TO ITS NAME!
by DanCerdena about MARCO POLO HOTEL DAVAO
Centrally located in Davao City, everything is within a short reach : Wharf, Malls, Churches, Aldevinco, Ateneo de Davao, restaurants, sights, etc. Rooms are beautifully and comfortably appointed. Beautiful views of the mountains, Davao Gulf and the city depending on where your room faces. Lobby Lounge and Eagles Bar located on the ground floor offer relaxing music and drinks for weary travelers. Security is tight such as one gets frisked everytime one enters the hotel. Security takes note of plate numbers of taxicabs for everyone's protection which is a plus. Downside is there are still no free wifi connection in any part of the hotel. You need to pay P500 for 24 hours internet connection in your room.

"WELCOME TO DAVAO CITY"
Davao City as you can imagine exploring with in can consume a little bit more of your time. It is stragetically located in typhoon free Southern Philippines. Divided into three congressional districts, the Central or the City Poblacion is the 1st District. Areas going north from central is Buhangin, Agdao, Sasa, Panacan (by passing through the diversion road is where the Davao Internaional Airport is.) up to the boundaries of Lasang are clustered together in the 2nd District. Areas going south and northwest such as Toril, (where Eden Nature Park, Loleng's Mountain Resort and Mountain Haven Resort are located.) and to the northwest is Tugbok, Calinan, up to the boundaries of Buda (meaning Bukidnon for "bu" and Davao for "da" are clustered to 3rd District. With a land area of 2,443.61 square kilometers, it take a lot of time to really discover Davao City. Sad to say, The Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) is not part of davao city but of Davao del Norte. Davao City can be reached by land, sea or air. travelling by air, we have daily flights to and from major cities in the Philippines and twice weekly flights to Singapore, Manado Indonesia and Palau. If by sea, we have two major sea carriers. The Aboitiz Supperferry with ports of call from Davao City to General Santos, Iloilo then to Manila. The Sulpicio Lines with ports of call from Davao City to Surigao, Cebu and Manila. and also from Davao City to General Santos City, Zamboanga to Manila. And if by land, we have the Philtranco, From Davao City to Surigao City, cross the channel of Mindanao to Leyte island in Liloan town by ferryboat. Then travel all the way to Tacloban, cross the strait of San Juanico to Samar then cross the channel of Samar to Sorsogon in Matnog by ferryboat. And the rest is the Bicol Provice, Quezon Province and other neighboring provinces before reaching Manila in Pasay City. (travel time is 36 hours or more). A glimpse of Davao City is here featured.
"DAVAO CENTRAL 1ST DISTRICT"
cm recto st. is one of the bussiest street in davao city, here you can find the aldevinco shopping center, the blue building at the background is the ateneo de davao university and in front of it is the marco polo hotel.
"DAVAO CITY 1ST DISTRICT GOING TO 3RD DISTRICT"
the road leading you to eden nature park, loleng's mountain resort, philippine eagle center, malagos garden and many other off beaten paths missed by travelers who come to visit davao city.

Legaspi Suite
About 150 meters from San Pedro Street, and within 5 minute walk from City Hall. There are many restaurants and shops in the vicinity, including Gaisano Ilustre department store. Selera, a restaurant at the ground floor of the hotel, serves Filipino dishes with a distinct style. The crispy tadyang (beef) is highly recommended.

Thanks edwinic and PinoyTraveller. I have not been to the Kadayawan and plan to visit in August this year. I did walk around the San Pedro, C.M. Recto and Rizal St area and was wondering if i had missed out on any good find. I was amazed at Davao's resiliency during my latest trip. I hope to explore the towns in the Davao-Bukidnon boundary next time.
