I didn't have any idea about this hotel before going there, a friend of mine has done the booking so I was a little bit embarrassed if I am going to like it. I was more than pleasantly surprised to see that it's a very good centrally located hotel with 220 rooms and with a very friendly staff! We experienced some problems with the elevator (they have been repairing it at that time) but the clean and well-furnished room, the delicious breakfast included in the price of accommodation and the great staff helped us forget quick this inconvenience!
The hotel is named after one of the native tribes inhabiting the forests and jungles of Davao in the past. It has a great location in the heart of the downtown Davao City with primary access to the business, commercial and recreational centers. The hotel is situated at only 30 minute drive to the Davao International Airport and few minutes walk to the Davao City Hall. The hotel offers free airport-hotel-airport shuttle transfer for its guests, the use of the swimming pool is also inlcuded in your hotel room price. You also get a welcome drink once you check-in, you can pay in cash with any of the major credit cards.
I would like to recommend it to all the tourists visiting Davao, you won't be disappointed, be sure:)!
Good luck to all the travellers!
Unique Quality: Its perfect downtown location, affordable prices (the price per night of the superior rooms starts at 50 EURO) and the breath-taking panoramic view of the majestic Mt. Apo, the Davao Gulf and the city horizon that most of the room offer.
My stay at The Royal Mandaya Hotel was very pleasant. The staff was always so nice. Always had a clean room. I chose this hotel for its rates, pretty cheap for a 4 star hotel. I was pleased with my whole stay there, 10 days. The location is right in the middle
of downtown Davao. Everything is just a cheap taxi ride away. Unfortunately it was the off season during my stay and the Summit Bar was not open. Looks like it hops when it is....
I would definitely recommend staying here if you want to save a few $$ The Apo View Hotel is just down the street and charge $ 20.00 more a night. I couldn`t have wanted to waste that amount when $20 will take care of all your expenses for the whole day in Davao.
Unique Quality: reat Views.. Mt. Apo was right outside my window while staying at the Mandaya.
he room had a mini fridge to use, and the staff didn`t mind bringing our own drinks to store in the room.

Budget of about less than 1k per night?
What hotel is near:
2. San Pedro Church
3. SM Davao
Marco Polo is across the street from Aldevinco. I am not sure if there are hotels below 1k/night. Hotel Galleria, Hotel Bagobo, Tower Inn and Casa Leticia have rates of around P1,500/night for double/twin. They may not be that near to the places you mentioned, but you can always take a jeep or cab in going around the city.
The nice thing about cabs in Davao, they always use the meter and you pay the exact amount shown on the meter. If you have even a P1 change, the driver will give it back to you; giving tip is discouraged.
If you want cheaper accommodation but still within walking distance to Aldevinco, try the Royal Mandaya Hotel at J. Palma Gil St. From there you can take jeepney to SM Davao. Davaoeños are nice and helpful people so don't be shy about asking for help.
a friend has recommended Lispher Inn. not sure of the rates but i think it's about your budget.
i've checked out lispher inn with my girlfriend.
it's okay, but it is a bit hidden, not a lot of action in the area.
i suggest you stick with the budget hotels in the center of the city
