by dawn_charlotte

Dakak is in Dipolog,Zamboanga Del Norte. a 1 day 1 night bus trip I reckon.Back to your original question, you can always go to two places at the same time as long as you have the time and of course money..

thank you! =) i think i'll just find the way how to get there... hehehe! thanks so much! =)

hi!

to save travel time, better reserve dakak when you go visit zamboanga or lanao or even cebu & dumaguete (i think there are ferries to dipolog)

nearer to Davao would be Gen. San. & Lake Sebu (4-6 hrs travel) or Bukidnon & CDO (about 8-10 hrs)

cheers,
clarice

why not davao then camiguin island

Re: wants to go to Davao

by dawn_charlotte

Hi Olitrac,

actually camiguin island is also in our list. is Davao nearer Camiguin Island? if i go to Camiguin Island, i need to take a plane from Manila to CDO and make transfers going to Camiguin. From Davao, how can i go to Camiguin Island?

Thanks

Re: wants to go to Davao

hi dawn; there are two options going to these places; you can take manila - davao flight then from davao by bus to balingoan port for camiguin. travel time is 7 to 8 hours from davao city. or the Manila - Cagayan de Oro flight which is nearer to balingoan port for camiguin island. travel time is less than two hours. then you may back track to cagayan de oro city and explore the place for a day then take a bus for davao city "via buda" . travel time is 5 -6 hours by taking the non stop trip..... so there you are; seems you've hit 3 birds in one stone. BTW the Cagayan de Oro - Davao via Buda route is open 24 hours.

happy travels!

Travel Tips for Davao

Exotic Food paradise!

by crazydigger

Eat durians and pomelos A trip to Davao would never be complete without partaking of durians and pomelos (suha). For durians, go to magsaysay park where an array of vendors await you. Peak season is september. Well, if you can't stomach the fruit, just go to Blugre coffee store (at Pryce Plaza, Gaisano Mall or SM Davao) and ask for their durian cappucino! tastes like durian but without the awful smell!
A pomelo is the local version of grapefruit. But it's a bit sweeter. Best varieties are those from nenita and golden. I recently discovered a new brand - Labao. Eat them with kiamuy powder! Yum! :D

davao bay walk

statue of david was once so controversial that some davao conservative "kuno" want this statue demolished. and there was one time that this statue was wearing a cover of his hmmmm. but it did not last long.. it only lasted for a few weeks for the good mayor (mayor duterte) has intervened saying where can you find a statue of him covering his hmmmm.. it has lost its originality. so "David" won.

Weddings & Reception Facilities

by Iluv2surf2

The last two trips we made two Davao were multi-purposed. Both had to do with weddings. In 2004, it was our wedding being performed in the church with my wife's family and friends participating and attending. This was an incredible experience. Our wedding was performed at Santa Ana Church in Davao. This trip, our friends Jay and Merasol also used this church for their wedding.

As it turns out, this is the ideal choice of churches. Jay and I are non-Catholics and I have one divorce on the record. This is the only church where you can "easily" get this accomplished with the blessing of the Church. Though I am not a Catholic, and a meber of Vineyard of Columbus Vineyard of Columbusas is Evelyn now, it was important for my to fully have her parents blessing in this area.

The staff is very helpful, but the distance and time differences, coupled with their other responsibilities at the church can make it a little tricky from here, but very doable if you're persistant. If you're looking for a formal church wedding, this is the place to choose.

Wedding Reception Facilities:

My favorite is Sunny Point for several reasons. The first one is because we had our wedding reception there I know the value you get there. I recommend this place to anyone getting married in Davaio City. The entertainment the moderators provide is very good and quite entertaining and the program for the bride and groom and guests is unique and spectacular. As the food is served, the Sunny Point dancers are also very good and offer an distinct local flavor to the activities.

Last but not least is the food. The bride and groom plan their meal weeks ahead of time. The selection of menu items to choose from is extensive. Let me say that I really can't stand fish. That may shock some folks considering I'm married to a Filipina that loves fish and seafood, but it's true. Sunny Point has a breaded fish my friend John encouraged me to try, which I was reluctant to do. But I have to say that it's the best fish I've ever had ANYWHERE in the world. The quality of food at Sunny Point is among the best anywhere in Davao City.

Take your pick!

by yellowbell about Harana Restaurant

There are 3 different restaurants in this one big gazebo-like complex, one serving grilled food (open-air restaurant), the other one Mongolian food and the one which I visited serve local food like crispy pata (deep fried pork knuckles), calamari and longganiza (sausage).

As you can see in the picture, everyone is drinking coconut water juice straight from its source!

In the garden, there is a small playland for kids.

Harana is a local term for serenade.

Philippine Eagle Research Center

by yellowbell

If you want to see how the Philippine Eagles are being bred in captivity, visit the research center in Malagos. It's a huge research center set in a rainforest tropical environment. Students and visitors can have a picnic there.
