Grand Regal Hotel: Better than Waterfront Insular

I stayed in a Premier room on 11th floor. I could view the Davao downtown and great Mt. Apo from the window. (I attach the view of Mt. Apo from the room.) The room facilities and ammenities are wonderful. It is located on Laurel Avenue, I belive it is the best hotel in Lanang area.

Great view from the higher rooms. Proximity to the airport. It has a casino though I am not interested. And another, funny but important quality of the 11th floor is that you don’t have to be bothered by cock’s crowing in early morning.

Marco Polo Hotel: Davao's finest

Very good location as it is right smack in the middle of the city center. And you could either get a mountain-view(back) or city/sea view( front) rooms. The lobby is very spacious. There is a piano bar, where you could enjoy a drink or two while enjoying the music.

This hotel is very convenient when it comes to goin out at night. The Venue Compound, the city's prime place to eat, drink, dance, be merry and be seen is just a walking distance away.

Aldevinco Shopping Center is just across the road. Here you can buy souvenirs from the city, mostly made from indigenous materials...like batik products, trinkets, jewellry, made from gold, silver, or pearls, handicrafts, local food specialties

Marco Polo Hotel: Fit for an Emperor

I only stayed overnite and it was courtesy of a former collegue from Procter and Gamble. What should have been a short stay turned very memorable because of the hotel's fine service and prompt bellhops. And the food, take note, is a total feast meant only for royals.

Apo View Hotel: Living up to its name

It is one of the first "star-rated" hotels in the city and a by-word among business travellers. The hotel's ballroom and several function rooms make it a preferred choice for conventions and exhibitions as well as special events like wedding reception, debut, party, etc.

Living up to its name, the rooms provide a view of Mt. Apo from a distance and the busy streets below. It is also located at the intersection of several roads providing easy access to public transpo.

Aside from the pool, I like to stay here because of its fitness center. Fitness Advantage runs the center and checked-in guests can use the facilities and attend aerobic classes.

Bagobo House Hotel: Not a tribal house

Bagobo is a minority tribe in Mindanao. But far from being a replica of the tribe's house, the hotel rooms are equipped with urban facilities. Although a bit dark for my liking (there were only 3 lamps inside the room) and not so spacious, it has aircon, TV and hot/cold water. They also provide shampoo in sachet in addition to the standard soap and towel.

There is a coffee shop at the lobby or you can request for room service. The thing I noticed and left a lasting impression on me is the very prompt service of the staff.

I like its location - directly across and short walking distance to several fast food joints (especially my McDonalds); adjacent to a department store, cinema and beauty salon; few blocks away from a pharmacy, hospital and church - practically everything you need is right at your doorstep, including cabs.

Hotel Galleria: The Alternate

This is my second choice of hotel when I am on work travel to Davao as it is only a block away from our office.

Each room is equipped with basic amenities such as aircon, TV and hot/cold shower. They also provide basic necessities such as soap and towel.

However, not all rooms have windows which is a "must requirement" for me. Hence, when booking I make it clear and make sure that they will give me a room with a window.

Just like other standard hotels, it has a coffee shop at the lobby. But its "outstanding" feature is its swimming pool which other hotels in its class do not have.

Davao Tower Inn: Inn-disguise

Tower Inn is my first choice of hotel when I am in Davao for work reasons primarily due to its location. It is right beside our branch office making going to the office no sweat and no hurry. Also, I can work late into the night content in the knowledge that my hotel is just a few steps away.

Although its name classifies it as an "inn", I would say Tower Inn is comparable to other standard hotels. It has the basic amenities - aircon, TV, towels, soap and hot/cold water. It also has a coffee shop at the lobby serving continental dishes.

There's really nothing unique with the hotel except that moment I step out into the street, there are cabs and jeepneys available.

Marco Polo Hotel: Davao Prime Business Class Hotel

The hotel is the tallest hotel /landmark (18 floors) in Davao City, and even the whole Mindanao.
It is also relatively new, got great lobby and five star hotel amenities.

I like this hotel very much, very competitive price, great buffet breakfast @ Cafe Marco, rooms are huge, and have a view of the city.

Next to the hotel is the Aldivenco Shopping Center :-) really cool place for shopping of batik and local crafts..

The hotel got a swimming pool. Several restaurants with great view of the city.

The lobby is huge, and got an eclectic feel to it, mostly Muslim inspired, even got a local weaver weaving tinalak.

Waterfront Davao Insular Hotel: My favorite hotel in Davao

All facilities can be recommended. Personally I liked the huge variety of tropical fruits and the friendly service at the restaurant and also at the pool.

Always my favorite, outside of the city, quiet, accomodation excellent, the gardens are well kept, swimming pool or seaside beach where you can hire a boat to the nearby pearl farm.
