Bagobo House Hotel: Not a tribal house
Bagobo is a minority tribe in Mindanao. But far from being a replica of the tribe's house, the hotel rooms are equipped with urban facilities. Although a bit dark for my liking (there were only 3 lamps inside the room) and not so spacious, it has aircon, TV and hot/cold water. They also provide shampoo in sachet in addition to the standard soap and towel.
There is a coffee shop at the lobby or you can request for room service. The thing I noticed and left a lasting impression on me is the very prompt service of the staff.
I like its location - directly across and short walking distance to several fast food joints (especially my McDonalds); adjacent to a department store, cinema and beauty salon; few blocks away from a pharmacy, hospital and church - practically everything you need is right at your doorstep, including cabs.

Hotel Galleria: Staying in Davao
Warm and accommodating atmosphere, very helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms, great coffee.
One thing I like about this hotel is the poolside. There are tables where you can work on your laptop, have good coffee and a smoke, and listen to the relaxing sounds of the waterfall.

Marco Polo Davao: Davao's top accommodation
When staying at Marco Polo Davao, make sure that you make an advance booking and always ask for their business travellers package or any promo that's available at the time of the booking. The good thing about this hotel is that the staff are courteous and very helpful. If you need anything do not hesitate to ask the concierge for help.
From the airport, the hotel has a shuttle van to bring their guests to the hotel. Once your in the hotel, there are 3 outlets where you can dine (Cafe Marco, Lotus Court and the Lobby lounge). My personal favorite would be the Cafe Marco for they have a number of amazing dishes on their Buffet table. If you want to unwind and go partying at night, make sure that you ask the concierge for advice regarding what type of place you would want to visit.
The staff is great.

Pearl Farm: Gem of a Resort
Pearl Farm--on Samal Island, off the coast of Davao City--is an idyllic piece of personal heaven! :) The ocean was just an unbelievable shade of green and blue. And the weather--all through our 2-day stay--was too perfect, sunny and very breezy. The beach was just a tiny little thing, but somehow, the lounge chairs were the perfect place for a cozy chat or nap. Rooms, resort grounds and beach were very well-maintained by a very accommodating staff. Many of the staff had ready smiles and "good mornings". From the onset of our time with them at their Davao Marina, to our stay at the resort itself, our every request was promptly granted--i guess this comes with paying top dollar for the resort stay.
What my family and I enjoyed most about the resort is our accommodations at the Samal Houses, which are huts on stilts built over the ocean. From our door, we had a veranda overlooking the sea. At night, we would hear the waves lapping below us. The room also had an antique-looking fan on the ceiling. With the light breeze coming in from our veranda, it was just the thing for an afternoon nap! :)

Linmarr Suites and Apartelle: Private and Affordable
It's like staying in your own apartment. A two story apartelle, with your own kitchen, living room, 2 bedrooms, with TV and AC. You can come and go as you wish. If you wanted to go out late in the evening, you can always ask reception to phone a cab for you.
They have a good size swimmingpool with a poolside bar. They also have a restaurant.
If you can afford a bit more, aside from the Apartelle, they also have the Linmarr Suites
I think the best feature of this place is the privacy that you can have. No wonder whenever there are events in the city , the bands, some singers, or performers usually stay here.

Humbertos Hotel: nice quiet and good value for money
It's best described as an inn. It has only but 20 rooms and that makes for the quiet and peacefull atmosphere. It would be rare to bump into other guests except maybe for breakfast (that comes free) the rooms are not fancy but really very very clean and comes with a fridge packed with drinks and goodiesas well ( not free).
Its in the heart of the city. The restaurant which is newly renovated has a comprehensive menu of pilipino as well as some thai and japanese selections. are all good value for money. nothing is more than 3 dollars and most are in the dollar fifty range. They have a web site just google humbertos hotel
I like that its quiet unlike most major hotels in the philippines that are so busy. There are only twenty rooms an so most of your requests are catered to quite fast. The restaurant is efficient the food tastey and cheap. its not far from anything. the big hotels are also near it. Humbertos hotel is situated in a quieter road. The hotel owner resides on the top floor so everything is in top shape all the time. It is ok to bring family here and again its very very clean

D'Counter Executive Dormitory: Cheap Clean Lodging
The name of this inn is a little misleading. It is not a dorm nor is it an executive level lodging. :)
D'Counter Executive Dormitory is located in front of the Apo View Hotel. For the P800/night (US$17) I got a clean a/c room with clean bathroom (it has hot and cold shower). The beddings and towels are clean but sad to say they don't provide shampoo and toothbrush so be sure to bring your own.
The price of the room includes breakfast (the usual set meal that you get in the fastfood outlets all over the Philippines).
The view in my third floor room is the roof deck garden which can be used as a party venue. The inn has no hairdryer nor laundry and ironing service. But the plus factor is that the room boy assigned to my floor was accommodating enough to bring my clothes to the laundry a few doors down to get it ironed (he even waited for it). Of course I paid for the ironing in cash and gave the room boy bakshees.
The locale of D'Counter Executive Dormitory is very safe for visitors. It is conveniently located so that one needs only to walk a few minutes to get to all night stores, drug stores and a few local restaurants and bars.

Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao: Disappointied hotel experience
I stayed in the room 203. It was ranked Superior in their definition, but I can not believe there are even more poorly serviced rooms in this famous hotel. No bathtub in the bathroom; no hair drier. Wallpaper was worn. Furnitures were too old and dull. When it rained, the noise of raindrop hitting the roof of outside corridor was so large and disturbing. The exchange rate from yen to peso was worse than other hotels in Davao. The airport transfer is not complementary but costed 100 peso per person.
T'Boli weaving center is in the garden. It is a small bower where a T'Boli woman shows you weaving.

We R Inn Hotel: Davao City's Value-for-Money Hotel
ATTENTION: TOURISTS ON A BUDGET...This hotel is for you! We R Inn Hotel, conveniently located at J. P. Laurel Avenue, Davao City.
This was not our original choice but a last-minute accommodation recommended to us by a friend in Davao City. However, we couldn't have made a better choice. Budget-wise, rates start at P800/night for single travelers, 1,200 for triple occupancy and P1000 for matrimonial bedroom. Rates are really okay for the rooms that we got. Nothing fancy but the air conditioner was really "cool" and the bathrooms are big enough to accommodate tall or wide-of-girth people...definitely bigger than most budget hotels. No windows, though for a good view...but then, you will stay in the rooms to sleep only anyway.
The best part is...the room rates come with free breakfast! Just the usual corned beef-egg, fried fish-egg with fried rice and coffee breakfast but, mind you, they are all cooked when you order, and gets to you piping hot!
Location-wise, just cross the street a shopping Mall is there. Take a short ride and you'll be at the Victoria Plaza, other shopping malls and fruit stands.
The front desk personnel are very accommodating, who were very attentive to our needs and provided information about tours, taxis, places to go, etc. Gave us a good discount too!
If you need info on this hotel, just email me. Will be happy to answer questions.
This small hotel has got Internet available for free...but if you don't have a laptop with you, there are desktop units in the lobby which you can rent by the hour at very reasonable prices.
If you have a car (rented or otherwise), the hotel has a big compound which can accommodate vans, cars and buses with adequate security.
