Coco Grande Hotel: Coco Treasure

by maribeldizon

Decided to book in this hotel because of Hedz, the very amiable sales agent who convinced me that their hotel was better than the rest, and their rate although higher is worth it. When we entered our room, it was very much to our liking. it was spacious, big enough for 4 pax. There was a matrimonial bed, a single bed and 2 mattresses for the 4th member of our group. There was a dresser, Cable TV, a mini-bar with free coffee and tea.

We went out everyday and found our clean room with fresh linens very inviting after a tiring day!

Hotel Palwa: Surprisingly Comfy

by eversure

I was skeptical at first since Hotel Palwa had no frontage and the entrance to their lobby was thru a side entrance behind a travel agency and bank. But once inside, the front desk people were very charming and nice. There was no elevator when we were then Aug 2010 but I hear one is in the works, expected to be complete by Nov 2010.

The bed was good and the decor ok. The location was very convenient since it was beside a convenience store and several restaurants. Amenities are not complete; only soap and toilet paper. At least towels were clean and not so thin.

Nicanor Hotel: Hard Bed

by eversure

The place is new as of 2010 so the sheets and towels are still white, clean and fluffy. The room is quite comfortable. However the bed was hard. Not hard as wood but hard in the way that there is no give when you sit or lie down. It was ok for us since we only stayed a night. I don't know how that would've affected our health if we stayed more nights. Aside from the bed, it is a charming hotel.

El Dorado Beach Resort: Awesome Resort!

by joanjeana

We had a great experience with El Dorado last weekend. The place is sooo nice. Though we booked in a standard room, but we had our meals upgraded/full-boarded. And that was the best deal ever! Our room is clean and cozy. The surrounding is perfect for couples (or even with friends). Food is fantastic. Great customer service.

What makes this resort unique is that they have cultural dance show every Wednesdays, Mondays and Saturdays! That was ages ago when I last saw dancers performing Tinikling, Philippines' national dance.

Bethel Guesthouse: Hotel with a view

by tinybabols

The place is nice and quiet. They clean the rooms everyday. They even provide toothpaste aside from the usual soap and shampoo. hehehe... ;)
They have a restaurant so if you don't feel like going out you can have your meals there.
The front desk can also help you with your travel needs.

The hotel is in front of the bay so make sure to reserve for a room facing the bay to have a nice view. They do have rooms without any windows :(

Harolds Mansion: Backpacking in Dumaguete

by tinybabols

This is a great place to stay in Dumaguete especially for those on a budget.
A dorm type room with cable tv, phone, aircon and toilet/bathroom good for 6 persons costs Php250/ person.
The double room with tv, phone, aircon and toilet/bathroom costs Php605.

The location is strategic. Walking distance to most of the places in the city.
The place is clean, the staff are friendly and there is an all day coffee service. They also serve free breakfast of toast and coffee. And there is free wifi for those who can't live without the internet.
The hotel also has contacts for other activities such as dolphin watching in Bais, and sightseeing in and around Dumaguete.
Adjacent to the building is a Dive shop, Scuba Ventures where you can book your diving and snorkeling activities in Apo and nearby dive sites.

Coco Grade Hotel: Nice Ambiance

by sirenna

Coco Grande Hotel is a Mexican style red brick wall hotel located right in the heart of Dumaguete close to Silliman University. It is conveniently located near the commercial district, handy for dining, shopping and nightlife as well as diving in nearby Apo Island.
The hotel has a piano bar and lounge as well as a coffee shop and fine dining restaurant offering Filipino, Mexican, and various European specialties.

I loved the ambiance and decor at this hotel, with antique furniture, paintings and wallhangings giving the place a unique, distinctly Filipino atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable, and thumbs up to the helpful staff too.

"Check Inn": Dumaguete Hotels

by realmercy

I have stayed at the 'Check Inn' the hotel is about 4 blocks west from the Bethel Inn. This past November 2007 when I stayed there the rates were 800 to 1000pesos are about $20 to $25 USA money; hot and cold showers, cold air con, 24 hour security, internet connection and restaurant, almost like home :) here is the email address I found on my receipt: checkinn_dgte@yahoo.com and cell number is 0928-217-8788 (remember is your using a cell phone to put the '0' in otherwise it will not work) I would also suggest if you arrive in the city before 1pm, just go to the McDonalds which is two doors from the Bethel Hotel, its kind of a hang out for the Americans there, and they are very friendly and will be happy to make other suggestions to you as well. Good luck and enjoy the 'City of Friendly People'

Pat's House: Nice place in Dumaguete

by Boljakool

we stayed at a friend's resthouse in bacong, dumaguete. the place was perfect for the big group of divers that we were. they did not have scuba diving facilities (it's a family resthouse), but we sure had great fun staying with them. the kids enjoyed the wide open grass area & the jacuzzi!

food was great! filipino-chinese cooking is a real treat!

we stayed for free! it's nice to have friends like our generous host.

Gazebo Pension House: Not very good

by johnmperry

My bro-in-law recommended this place. I don't know why - seems very ordinary. In fact ordinary would be good. This was less than that. He said "Mention my name." I did. They said "Who?"

Air conditioner - despite running at maximum it was unable to reduce the room temperature by more than about three degrees. Cleaning would probably help - several years of grime and crud must reduce the efficiency of the heat exchanger.
Television - totally worn out, so we just watched shadows. And no controller.
Shower - not very hot.
Twin room cost a lot more than a double. Why?
Lots of food on offer, but basically restricted to tuna sandwich made of some sort of French toast (sweet). And in the evening the cook went home at 6pm, so no chance of dinner.

I was all set to move somewhere else, but my companion had had enough of moving hotels - three in eight days poor dear.

Very ordinary. Less than.
