I spent more than two months in total in 2008 and 2009. It is high class hotel in central Iloilo with Wi-Fi connection at room. In 2009, room charge was increased but I paid 2008 rate with negotiation. Because perhaps I was longer stay guest.
It looks nice lobby and restaurant with skilled staff while a bit old interior room, but it is rather large room size. I chose the room which is facing to south side, Dergado Street side, with a small balcony to get fresh air.
Many of hotels in Iloilo or Philippines, windows can not be opened, fixed. I do not know why, but I needed to ventilation by myself.
I reached to this hotel after exploring most of hotels in Iloilo. This is the only one which serves Wi-Fi internet connection at rooms with reasonable room charge and well organized hotel facilities.
Rate is excluding breakfast so it will be added when you take. They serve buffet style breakfast with Philippines taste and some western foods. I enjoyed having breakfast here especially weekend. Do not expect coffee taste and other juice, but there is fresh fruits such as pineapple, papaya and banana (only three kinds).
Many Korean teenager were staying at this hotel for their intensive English language course held at this hotel.
A part of hotel, corner of Dergado and Iznart Streets, is shopping mall called Amigo Plaza. It is easy to access any where in Iloilo City.
Unique Quality: They serve Wi-Fi connection at room and centre location. It is good for exploring City Proper by foot. You will see many Art Dec style architecture.
Amigo Terrace Hotel is a regular business hotel with its major advantage being in downtown Iloilo and central to almost everything. The staff and bellhops are very friendly but regular wear has taken toll on the hotel's attractiveness.
My booking included buffet breakfast. Buffet was simple and filling, but just the regular Filipino breakfast fare. I was hoping for dried fish and desserts native to Iloilo or Panay island, that could help me familiarize with what to take home from Iloilo. Was disappointed in this aspect.
It was Dinagyang time when i visited and the hotel made in-house events to take advantage of the surge of tourists. I'd rather go out and sample the events in the streets and nearby establishments.
Unique Quality: The friendliness of the staff couldn't compensate for hotel's need for a renovation or at least a total make-over. The sheets curtains and carpet are faded, fixtures and tiles stained, and the interiors silently calling for a designer's attention. I wanted to take a dip and cool off from the noise and grime of the streets but found the pool dirty too. It posed a stark contrast from the festival Iloilo is so well-known for.
I hope Amigo would take more effort to regain its old flavour.
The hotel is located in the downtown area, 10 minutes drive from the airport and within walking distance to Iloilo's shopping and business area.
A hundred rooms and suites can be found on the 4th and 5th floors, the function rooms and swimming pool on the 3rd floor and there is even a shopping mall in the 1st and 2nd levels of the building!
