Smallville 21 Hotel: Modern Boutique Hotel in Smallville Nite Spot
The Smallville 21 Hotel is one of the small boutique hotels located in the Smallville Nite Spot area of Mandurriao District of Iloilo City. The hotel is located in the Middle of Smallville Commercial Complex, the main nitespot and entertainment area of Iloilo City where the most chic and upscale restaurants, bars, live entertainment, Lounges and Drinking spots, the River Boardwalk are located and is the center of Iloilo City's Nightlife. The area maybe far from the City Proper but it is near the major Commercial Areas of Sm City Iloilo and Plazuela De Iloilo, which is a 15 minute walk away or via taxi. The Place opened in October 2010 and is one of the 3 hotels in the Smallville Complex. They even have their own convenience store in the hotel that is open from 10:00 am to 2:00 everyday that doubles as a bar cum drinking area which are popular with people on a budget.
Unique Quality: They have the regular amenities that include:
Air-condition
32″ LCD Cable TV
Free WiFi internet
Hot & cold shower
Private phone
Safety deposit box
Fridge (some rooms) mine had no refrigerator
Room service
The hotel facilities includes:
Restaurant / Cafe
Function room with 200 people seating capacity
Free WiFi internet in lobby
Laundry & pressing service
Transport service

One Lourdes Dormitel: Underestimated Place
To be honest, we booked at One Lourdes Dormitel only because it replied promptly to hubby's inquiries. We always plan way ahead of our scheduled trips because we want everything settled already. Perhaps, the other hotels thought we were inguiring too early for their Dinagyang Package so they didn't reply at once. A VTer's review of One Lourdes Dormitel also helped us decide to book a room there.
The place is neither a hotel nor a dormitory. It is called a dormitel because they offer dormitory rooms for short term (15 days to 4 months) or long term (5 months to 1 year) contract, as well as hotel rooms for transients/ tourists. The dormitory houses mostly students, professionals and businessmen. We met a nursing student who lives only in Molo District but she chose to stay at the dorm to save on money and time for commuting.
The hotel rooms were filled with tourists when we were there. It is an accepted practice in Iloilo City for hotels to increase their rates during the Dinagyang Festival season. For a double room with free breakfast, we paid less than P1,000/day. As compared to their regular rate for a double room at P860++, it's a real value for money. Not bad at all really.
I must confess when we first arrived, I felt bad seeing it's location. It was beside a shop that looked like a repair/vulcanizing shop, and we had to pass through a small alley to go to the dormitel. After a few day's stay, however, I realized that One Lourdes Dormitel has a nice location. It was very easy for us to hail a taxi from there. It was also walking distance to Robinson Mall and the market where the Jeepney terminal for Miagao and other towns was. When the streets were closed during the Dinagyang days, there were still many "trisikads" plying the route to the street corner of Dormitel.
I recommend this place to travelers who do not expect 5-star hotel perks and amenities, but go for convenience and comfort.
Unique Quality: One Lourdes Dormitel is in a busy street corner, yet we weren't bothered by any noise from the vehicles. The walls, windows and air-conditioning unit in our room effectively muted the noise from the streets. I liked the simple but nice room assigned to us. Although it was on the 3rd floor, there was elevator service so we didn't have to worry about climbing the stairs. They have room service, but we preferred to eat breakfast at their coffee shop on the ground floor. There is only one cook so it is advisable to order your breakfast in the evening, and specify what time you want it served. otherwise, you'll have to wait long.
Amenities included: wifi internet access, 24-hour security, cable tv, personal ref, room telephone, smoke alarm system, standby generator, hot & cold shower, bath soap & shampoo, towels, pitcher and glasses for drinking water.
From the window at our floor level, we could see Robinson's Mall; from our room's window, we could see "Luces in the Sky" (we didn't go to SM City on the 2nd night of PyrOlympics).

One Lourdes Dormitel: Dormitel Experience
One Lourdes Dormitel can be one of the best affordable accommodations in Iloilo City. I am only irritated a bit when our room is not yet ready because they forgot to put some shower curtains. We don’t want to wait so we told them that it can follow and we need to rest because we are tired the whole morning exploring the northern towns of Iloilo and Jaro District.
We stayed on a family room (Room 213) with 2 comfortable matrimonial beds. The room is very appealing and neat upon our check in. Their A/C worked well and not noisy, with hot and cold shower, cable TV, Closet, personal refrigerator, free wifi access and with 24 hr security. We are surprised to have this kind if Room for the price of P950.00 and other type of rooms are cheaper. We are three on the room and one volunteered to stay on the floor with the bed mattresses we just requested 2 pillows that cost P30.00 each per night. I just want to suggest they should put some toilet rag.
There is a small veranda overlooking the Robinsons Mall, there is no good view around the dormitel though. The in front is a mechanical repair shop but that is not important. And by the way you can’t order beer or even buy one outside and bring it up to your room. It is not allowed they said. Don’t know why by it is crap. Then the next morning we woke up early for our 2nd day tour on the southern towns and we ordered 3 coffees but it took forever so I followed it up and they told me that there are others who ordered first so we need to wait. I asked her how long they prepare it because we are in a hurry. She just said okay and wait a little. Our coffee came and it’s just a 3-1 Instant coffee. We are wondering what took them so long. There is no preparation on this just hot water. They are charging up 2% service fee so they should make their service quick as much as possible.
For me the location of the Dormitel is strategic, It is near the mall, jeepney terminal, accessible to public transportations , Ortiz port and you can even walk to JM Basa like what we did. They also accept monthly rates just reach them through their cell phone and they will respond to your queries immediately. You can check their website for other details.

Riverside Inn: Gem of Iloilo City
I accompanied my daughter last October 2009 during the UNIGAMES competition. The contingent of their school stayed in this hotel, so naturally, I made reservations with this hotel and paid immediately through bank transfer. Riverside Inn is a very nice hotel in Iloilo City. It has a good location. Their rooms are simple and very nice. The aircons are working quite well. I stayed in a standard room for one night and transferred to a family room the next day. Rooms are quite spacious for a budget hotel although you have to inform the housekeeping staff to clean your room because they will not clean it just by themselves, but this is just a small glitch. They have a package which has complimentary Filipino breakfast. Their small restaurant is beside the Iloilo river and it is quite relaxing while eating there. Their breakfast is basic but quite good. They also have a very nice and accommodating staff. The manager/owner of the restaurant is very hospitable and we were able to chat for quite a while. She was so....nice..., Ilongos are really warm people. There is also a MANG INASAL restaurant in the hotel premises, a local travel agency, an internet cafe, a small boutique and kiosks selling drinks and chips. Kudos to Mr. Jobert and the staff of Riverside Inn. ANIMO!!!
Unique Quality: Great View of Iloilo River in their restaurant. A very friendly and accommodating staff.

Ong Bun Pension: For Budget Travelers
Ong Bun Pension is for travelers on a budget. Their rooms are basic; meaning, it has a bed, a desk, a TV, an aircon, and a CR (the last three items are available if you paid for a room with such amenities). Sure, I would recommend it to anyone who is on a tight budget and doesn't mind the appearance of the room.... and just needs to place a sleep in for the night and leave her/his baggage. It's not pretty and sometimes, there are cockroaches in the room. But I would not recommend it to anyone who is meticulous on how the rooms look like and minds if there are cockroaches lurking occasionally. hehe
Unique Quality: located within the city proper

Highway 21: VFM Hotel in Iloilo
We were looking for a place to stay for a night in Iloilo, coming from Boracay, and found Highway 21 a good location and value for money.
Staff: friendly and accommodating
In room: standard - A/C, H/C shower, TV, phone (free for local calls but automatically disconnects in 10mins), soap/shampoo provided (only one set provided per room but you may request for additional); rooms are a bit cramped though
Amenities: Coffee shop, free luggage storage
Booking: Standard/Twin, Annex
Cost: Php800 per room per night
Its not right along the main road, entrance is more like a drive-through because the building is behind a commercial establishment. Despite this, general area is clean. See pics.
Unique Quality: Open hallways, smokers rejoice!
Seriously, its clean, safe, generally quiet, and cheap.
