Castles on the Beach
by DJ_Rolo
When the sun starts to set, many of the local kids head out to the beach and start making sandcastles and other designs. These kids are really gifted. These castles turn out great, usually you will see a few castles when taking a stroll on the beach. these children dont make these for the fun of it though, so make sure you give a good tip when taking a look and more if you take a picture.
Ati Atihan - Ibajay - The "Original"
by boracayinformation
Ati Atihan is more than just a religious fiesta - it´s carnival, Maddi grass, food festival, beauty competition, it`s singing, dancing, drinking, fun and more all together at the same time. Most travelers might know only the Ati Atihan in Kalibo, the biggest and most commercial one. But every third weekend in January there is a smaller and more native one in Ibajay, a small settlement around 45 minutes away from Boracay. The local people from Ibajay call there fiesta the "Original Ati Atihan". If you are on Boracay at this time of the year - than it is a " must " to join this happening.
beach volleyball

if you love beach volleyball, there's a lot going on in boracay. if there are no games, all you have to do is start one and a lot of people will join you afterwards.
there's a net opposite hey jude in station 2 and a few more nets opposite nigi nigi in station 1. bring your own ball as the prices in boracay for a beach volleyball can be a bit steep though you can find cheap ones in station 3.
Bike your way along the hiway and more
by roselle_t
I went to Boracay during the Atiatihan festival season (3rdweek of Jan) so there were many people populating the beach. I decided to discover other places by bike.
I rented a bike and started from Station 3 to the hiway. I took a right turn at a path on Pearl of the Pacific resort where I was led to a small Marian chapel, located way past the resort and a very serene place to visit. I went back to the hiway and continued my northward biking all the way to the barangay plaza and the first church that i saw. Then I made a uturn and headed back to the direction of station 3 again, but this time stopping first at Jona's for a dose of banana peanut shake. Off I went again toward a path that would bring me out to Laguna de Boracay resort (southern part of Bulabog beach). This time the path was pure rugged and uneven terrain.
Then I biked along the beach northward, until I reached Road 1-A was that would lead me back to the main hiway. Once I got back to the main hiway, I took a turn toward D'Mall and went out into the promenade. From there, I was now on a southward direction toward Station 3. Biking on sand is no easy matter either. It gets more difficult to balance when the sand on certain parts are loose.
Biking gives you a different perspective of the island as you can see the town life. The locals, the plaza, the church, the houses that you pass are as much a part of the island as the beaches, the resorts and the parties. And being a tiring exercise it gives you reason to relax on the beach sipping your favorite mixed drink esp. at happy hour.
NOTE: You can attempt to bike your way to Mt. Luho viewdeck, the highest point. Just before you reach Fairways and Bluewater along the hiway, take a right turn where you see the sign to the viewdeck. It's a steep climb but its worth it to be able to overlook Bulabog beach and the nearby islands of Romblon.
Bikini Blur

They have several shops around the island but the one with the most stuff is at D'Mall. You'll love their wide selection of swimsuits, surf shorts, sarongs, and other cool beachwear. And, if you break a snap on your bikini top, they'll have a replacement on hand. $15-20 for a black bikini? Definitely a bargain!
