Budget Cottages
Despite being a relatively new establishment, Dave's Straw Hat Inn has already earned itself a glowing reputation for providing reasonably priced accommodation at a very high standard. Depending on the room-rate, facilities can include hot and cold water, telephone, private security box, aircon or fan and cable TV, and the Inn offers free use of their outdoor cooking facilities. Guests also have access to the internet.
Unique Quality: Dave and Janet are already well known for looking after their guests like members of the family - the resort is small and cosy, and this gives it a friendly, personal feel. Although it is not actually situated on the beach front, it's less than a minute's walk away, in a good location. The cottages are attractive, and set in a pretty garden.

home away from home
A place where you're treated like royalty and feels just like home. Janet and her very friendly staff and crew made our stay so comfortable and fun. The rooms are kept clean everyday and you can order the food you'd like to eat as long as you inform them beforehand so they can have it ready and prepared before you even say I'm hungry.
Unique Quality: Guests can choose a fan or air-conditioned room with it's own refrigerator, cable television and a security box . All rooms are furnished with phones, have hot and cold water and generator back up. They also offer free use of outdoor cooking facility.

Simply the BEST!
We stayed here for 16 days. The staff is ultra friendly and very very helpful. The rooms are small but have everything you need, refrigerator, a/c, shower stall, tv, nightstands, modern internet room for guests only, seating area inside and out on your own deck. Units are individual type bungalows. A small menu with very good food. It was 50$ a night but that was super peak season, Christmas. Goes down to 25$ I believe in off peak.
Unique Quality: The grounds around the bungalows is peaceful and beautiful. It's off the path so it is very quiet.

Best deal at Dave's
My husband and I had a wonderful time at Dave's last March. Though Dave's is a bit far from Boracay's hot spots, after the first night you will find that it's location is actually better than being right at the heart of everything... away from the noise, clutter, the vendors, masseuses and tour bookers. Although Dave's is not a beachfront property, it is a short walk to the beautiful (and less spoilt part of) White Beach.
What I liked most about Dave's, aside from the privacy, is that their rooms are clean. Squeaky clean. The sheets smell good, the bathroom spotless. You can't expect a BIG room for their cheap rates but hey, it's not as if you'll be staying in your room all day. The staff are friendly and always ready to cater to your needs. All rooms have a safety deposit box which you will find pretty useful. Oh and one more thing... Dave's is quite near to the Red Pirates Club where you can book a paraw-sailing trip. SUPER FUN!

Take room number 8
This place is always booked out, for many good reasons. It's a small operation with genuinely friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are clean, airconditioned, ceiling fan, there also an in-room safe. I appreciate the mosquito coil that they provide in the balcony. Love the lush gardens. Love the garlic and olive oil pasta!
Access to the place is via an alley off Arwana Boracay, criss-crossing between some residential houses. People might be put off by this not so glamorous entrance but hey, if that's what will keep Dave's a secret to only few lucky people. Then so be it.
Ask for room #8, the one at the very end. It's quiet.
Directions: From the boat station, take tricycle to White Beach. Get off at station 3. Walk 3 min towards the beach, turn left, walk along sandy road until you see Dave's sign or the now red-painted Arwana Boracay. Turn left, follow alley, left, right. You're there.
This yoo choob video shows owner Janet presenting her little paradise. She looks rather stiff here but she's really a clown in person. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_I6q4zJ_Mw

Friendly and very clean Inn
We loved our stay at Boracy Island. As we felt safe and had lots to do. Great Beaches and friendly people. Good value for your money. We were treated very well as the Filipinos there know how to be great hosts. We stayed at La Reserve the first night as it was great too but 100 US per night but you only live once.
Unique Quality: Wow it was great! A little hard to find the first time. Well managed and clean. Good breakfast
but we tried lots of good eating restaurants on Boracay for lunches and suppers. Great friendly staff that made you feel like honoured guests. Just nice and cheap about 45 US a night.

clean and nice but not recommended
the rooms are clean and nice but not as nice as shown in the website. the aircon of one of the two rooms we rented was not working and my friends were told that they will be transferred to another room but they did not. make sure that you check the items provided (towels, hangers, etc.) also make sure to inform them to ask your permission first as they come in and out of your room at will which made us uncomfortable with losing our things coz even the money left in our room was moved.
when we checked out, they claimed that a hanger was missing. i asked the staff to check our bags (which she did not) coz we really dont have any use for the missing item and we're quite sure that we were only provided 5 against their claim of providing us 6. one of my friends just paid the cost cause we were already late for our scheduled departure. upon arrival at kalibo airport, we were not accommodated coz we arrived 35 minutes before departure. we were forced to buy another ticket for next day's flight and stay for another night at a hotel in kalibo.
wow, all because of the missing item. so make sure to take note of the above advise if you still decide to check in at dave's straw hat inn. who knows, this might be a scheme.

Wonderful time at Dave's
We had a great time and even though we read good things, we were a bit skeptical until we arrived. 3 people almost in chorus said good morning sir, good morning miss. We were tired but surprised by how friendly they were. The room is not huge, but fine for us and very very clean daily. The staff and Janet the owner made us feel at home. On our second day, my girlfriend was sick with a combination of sunburn and stomach cramps. All I had to say is she wasnt feeling well and before we knew it, Janet got us meds and a bowl of soup appeared soon afterwards. We did not pay for any of this. Actually, they were all so nice, you keep asking yourself can this be for real. What is the catch? We were treated like royal family. The place is very nice with garden and maybe two minutes to the beach. We ate at a local restuarant and while there the owner asked us where we stayed, when we said Daves, he gave us our drinks for free saying all daves guests gets free drinks. Its almost like they have the whole thing so wrapped that they even find you discounts outside. When we left, every staff member, Janet and Dave all came out to say good bye to us. I have never had this experience before and felt teary eyed. Truly this experience will make you ask, can this be for real. Yes, it is for real and as we found out and we only paid $28 per night on top of that for a really clean room, with AC, Ref, phone, hot water, patio and free wi-fi. Dinner outside cost us more than the hotel room, but I have forgotten that dinner, but not Daves. Thank you Janet, Jen, Jing and the others. Thank you also for taking care of us when we were sick and when we were healthy. Dont change what you do as no one else does it like that. God Bless.

Dave's is amazing
Let me start this by saying Dave's is amazing, really. The staff was friendly, Always had a smile on their face (no matter the time of day) and were eager to assist us in any way possible. When we arrived at 9am in the morning we found our room wasn't ready. No big deal, we were early anyway. So we ordered breakfast and were given our complementary Mango Iced teas. These are very tasty ice teas, made with care and patience. Our room however was not ready yet, so we decided to go swimming. The staff was kind enough to let us change in a vacant room and hold our bags while we enjoyed the Boracay waters.
When we arrived back several hours later our room was ready and we eagerly checked in and showered. The room was great, I loved the decor and the size. The bed was suitable and the shower was nice and cold. The only letdown was the air conditioner was not as cold as it should have been, We didn't think we needed to bother the staff with this trifle, we just decided to turn on the fan included in the room and it was more than sufficient.
The staff cleaned our room twice, Yes they entered the room without us asking like a normal hotel. We had no problem with this, we enjoyed the fresh towels, sheets and bedding.
Several times we decided to go swimming and asked a staff member to hold our key so we wouldn't lose it. They seemed more then happy to comply.
Just a word to Travelers unknown to Boracay, Dave's is a good walk from the restaurants and D'mall. If you want to visit these places everyday, prepare your walking shoes. But the trade off is the complete silence you cannot get at station 1 or 2.

Dave's straw hat inn, boracay beach chalets or turtle inn resort
Guys can you help me pls.? Dave's straw hat inn, boracay beach chalets or turtle inn resort which one would you choose and why?
Re: Dave's straw hat inn, boracay beach chalets or turtle inn resort
That depends on your criteria. Both Dave's and Turtle Inn offer excellent value for money for off-beachfront resorts. Dave's is a little less expensive as far as I know.
