Best and cheapest way to get there

by TravelTed74

Hi everyone, I am going to the Philippines in May with my wife and we really want to visit Boracay. I am trying to find out what the best and cheapest way is to get there, and how lol. I would also appreciate any reccomendations on places to stay there too. Thankyou in advance for any help given.

okay,i hope i could be of great help,lol.anyways.If you're leaving Manila or any other place in the country, the best way is to take the plane to Caticlan island which is situated in the province of Aklan. There are no direct flights to Boracay from any other part of the country except from Manila via Philippine airlines,Cebu pacific or Zest Air which all fly to Caticlan airport then from there, one has to take a ferry boat to Boracay island. By the way, these airlines have online booking system. They also offer big flight discounts during low season but now that summer is fast approaching( March-May),its good to book ahead of time.Another alternative would be taking a flight to Iloilo City(a neighboring province of Aklan) and travel all the way to Kalibo(Aklan's capital city) then take a bus or rent a private vehicle to Caticlan. This would entail an air travel then land travel and a ferry ride which could take many hours so really the best, fastest and cheapest way is to take the plane from Manila.
There are lots of good places to stay- from expensive to mid-range priced hotels to simple cottages.Just search for hotels in Boracay island and there you'll be directed to the hotel websites and a dozen information about this beautiful island.
Have a great time in Boracay.Cheers!

that is right, from Manila, there are flights everyday to Caticlan. check out:

www.cebupacificair.com

www.airphilexpress.com

they offer cheap fare, and if u book earlier, there could be promos. from Caticlan, u can take the boat to Boracay Island for about 10minutes. there are plenty of hotels in boracay, and it depends on ur budget as where to stay. beach front hotels are always the best.

i was in boracay last december. and i really love it there. planning to back soon as well.

hope u enjoy ur stay! and dont forget ur sunblock and to take plenty of photos. cheers! =))

best way is to fly from mla to caticlan but if you're going to boracay by May which is peak season I dont think you can get cheap airfare by this time I hope you have booking already. If not, and you have time to spend and you dont mind a little inconvenience during travel (sleeping in the bus), cheapest way during the peak season is by RORO.

just you have an option...

Travel Tips for Boracay Island

beach and night life

by kemisteryoso

My best memory is when we tried skim boarding and failed many times to do it :)
Plus the nightlife after drinking from our Veranda we went clubbing starting from Hobbit house then to hey Jude, Watched the fire dancers and bought our coffee at starbucks and went to the beach to just sit and lie down.

Coconut Man

by sirenna

Boracay locals are such resourceful people - if there is something to be sold, you can sure that there will be someone to sell it, even if the customers are out in the middle of the ocean! This friendly local guy has found his niche selling coconuts to people on boat trips. He loads them onto his little paddle boat and tours around the areas where people have stopped to swim and snorkel. Once he has cut the coconut open with his bolo knife, you can insert a straw and drink the syrupy juice inside.

Umbrella for Rainy Travel

by cHeLLe28

Your going to need this if you want to visit Boracay during the rainy season (june - sept). Would prevent you from staying in your room if you want to go in other parts of the beach / island. It was very useful during our stay.

Massages on the beach

by seoulgirl

You can get a massage on the beach around boat station 3. One lady just approached my husband and she was very good. I don't what he paid, very very reasonable. The pic is of our friend getting a massage in that same area. You can see in the background where he is. The rooms are cheaper in this area. It's a very low key area and the beaches (were) pretty deserted the farther along you go.

Dead Forest

by sirenna

The Dead Forest was originally a mangrove swamp on the eastern side of the island. It was created when a dam that kept off the saltwater broke down, destroying the swamp and killing off the mangroves that grew in it (mangroves thrive in brackish water). The Dead Forest is surrounded by old folk tales about ghosts and spirits. Locals believe that supernatural occurrences take place here, particularly on full moon nights.
It's surprisingly atmospheric, so be sure to bring a camera.
