Isla Gecko is located relatively close to boat station 2, so if you want to be in the middle of the party zone without spending a fortune on accomodation, this is the place for you.
There are only 10 rooms, and this gives the resort a friendly, homey atmosphere. Isla Gecko is just a short walk from the beach and the main shopping, nightlife & dining areas, and has a small garden, bar and restaurant.
Unique Quality: If you book through an agency, the prices start at P1500, but you may be able to get a better rate by booking directly. All rooms have a safety deposit box. Cable TV and air-conditioning are optional.

This resort is highly recommended for budget conscious people who want a clean and nice place in Station 2. It is a small family-owned resort and is a 5 min walk from the beach and is near D’Mall. The location is perfect since is near the beach and the D’Mall where action is. We got an air-conditioned room with 1 queen sized bed and a double deck bed for only Php 1,200/night (off peak rate). The room has its own T&B, cable TV and a safety deposit box. The owner, Mae Duena, and all of the staffs are friendly and accommodating. They even clean the rooms and give you fresh and clean towels daily.
Unique Quality: A simple resort with clean rooms, friendly staffs, and affordable rates.

Dennis, the Kiwi owner, along with his wife are great people, warm and friendly who make you fell right at home :-)
The place is in a quiet area, but really close to the beach and nightlife.
we totally enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it to others!
Unique Quality: The warm friendly atmosphere that is created as well as the decor makes this a lovely place to be.

I booked our 2011 Boracay stay in Isla Gecko. I based my decision on the write-ups in the internet. The reviews said the rooms and the location were great and the owners were awesome and friendly. My partner and I were so disappointed when we arrived at Isla Gecko, the resort was undergoing a renovation but the owners did not bother to inform us. They booked us at the nearby Fat Jimmy's which did not meet our standards, to begin with it was so far from the beach and near the road where the tricyles are. We met the new owners (not the famed former owners) and it is to their credit that we were appeased of our misery. When we rejected Fat Jimmy's and insisted that we would just make do with Isla Gecko, they graciously accommodated our demand. But honestly we were not happy with the location. It was quite a walk from Isla Gecko to the beach front and the small road where we had to traverse was unpaved and full of potholes. It was a bit depressing. The walk to the beach was not scenic as we had to pass through houses etc. In the end, we decided to comb the whole area and found a place that met our standards. Again, we give credit to the new owners who stayed pleasant during the whole fiasco. They gave us a refund without any fuss, less our transfer fees of course, which was fine. Sorry but we are definitely going back.

Just wanted to ask about ideal places to stay in December? Not too expensive and ideal for a family of 3. and what boracay is like in December. This will be our first christmas in Boracay and we want our son to enjoy it. and are there activities for kids?

Boracay in December is like Boracay in October except that the weather will probably be a bit nicer (rainy days are less likely, in general), the crowds will be heavier (Dec / Jan is the peak season for visitors from Europe and North America, also somewhat from Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, etc.), and prices will be higher (high season prices will be in effect -- perhaps even super-peak prices over the Christman / New Year holiday dates).
Some nice value-for-money places include Blue Mango, Villa Camilla, Turtle Inn, Blue Coral, Isla Gecko & Boracay Beach Resort.
DeParis will be nice in October, but might be noisy in December when the crowds are here, as that's the 'party area'.
I've been to boracay twice,i stayed in a hotel near the d'mall,it's too noisy but it's okey,then i took a walk down to station three and i found out there's so many reasonable hotels there.My first recomendation is TURTLE INN if you're looking for a classy,clean and they're new so you definitely gonna have a great deal,secondly DAVES STRAW HAT if you're looking for an old style but nice place.Both places have such wonderful staff that will surely make your stay enjoyable and relaxing,good luck and hope you enjoy your boracay visit soon.
I would recommend Roys, Dave's Straw Hat Inn, Graces Cottages or Mountain View. Not on beach, but great values and close to beach. Roys has new cottage, Dave's is best bet for budget hotels and gets good reviews, Graces is next to Dave's and is small family run, Mountain View has great grounds, but simple in nature. Prices are the same in all of these places I believe.
North of white beach is Diniwid. A quieter beach on most days but on this particular day it was the feast of San Juan so the locals where out enjoying the water. The cliff on the pic isn't that high...maybe 15ft and fun to dive from but make sure the water down below is high enough or you'll end up with a sore ankle like this stupid show-off who jumped when the water was only waist deep.
backpack, NOT trolley bag. hey unless you imagine it eas to lug your trolley across soft powdery sands just flip-flops is all you need basic. bring your prescription drugs (esp with all the gourmet available on the island) 2-flat prong plugs are available at 220V. keep your camera charged all times. power outage occurs at least once a day sunblock, wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, several bathing suits and cover-ups. for island hopping you may need your snorkeling or diving gear insect repellant, sunburn cooling gel, your ipod, a good book. water bottle at all times. the heat is delicious!
A banana boat is a boat shaped like a banana? I don’t get it. Anyway, this boat can hold up to 10 persons and gets pulled by a motorboat up to speeds of 40 km per hour (okay I’m guessing). The trip is about 15 minutes long and we get to see another part of the island.
Before, it was part of the ride for the operator to deliberately make the boat roll, and ultimately have it turn upside-down, throwing people off into the water. But there was probably an unfortunate incident that happened involving this practice, because now, they won’t do it anymore. It made the ride a bit boring for me. Booooo!
This will cost you about P200 per person, or P1500 – P2000 for the whole boat (haggle guys!).
Gone exploring caves at the northern end of the island is another one of our "What's more there other than White Beach?" experience in Boracay.
Getting there was by renting a motorcycle (P500 for 2 hours) and following directional signs with the help of a map. Along the road at the crossing leading to the Bat Cave via a single track trail are children from the local community to guide us for a minimal fee. The motorcycle was good for the hilly single track trail that we stopped just a few meters away from the cave for the final trek.
The place within the vicinity of the cave are limestone formations with lush vegetations all around . Into the cave, a few bats were flying and the smell of guano is in the air (not that stinky that i thought). The steps are slippery and we made sure earlier to wear our aquashoes. The prize - amazing stalactites and stalagmites formations.
This Budget Mart located at the D'Mall facing the Main road, recently opened. You can find everything you might need in one place. Fresh foods, household items, drinks & snack, etc.
It is more than a 7-11, consider it a mini (American) Safeway Grocery Store.
The warm friendly atmosphere that is created as well as the decor makes this a lovely place to be.
