Weather in Boracay

by Juds

Hello! How are the waves in White beach this week? Are they choppy already? Does it rain more often now? We have a one way flight booked on June 21 and we're considering taking the ferry on the way back to Manila. Might stay for 4 days. Is it advisable to take RORO from Caticlan to Manila with the prevailing weather condition there? Any advise will be greatly appreciated. many thanks!

Hi Juds,
Except for the "experience", there is nothing much to gain taking the RoRo. There will be no sight to see as you will spend evening on the road arriving around 5am in Manila. It will be a boring & tiring trip and you saved peanuts. Return via Kalibo or Caticlan and savor you holiday.

I'm not sure about the waves but basing on previous June trip, playful waves as compared to calm sea. Even if White Beach is choppy Boracay has otjher beaches that is worth going to.

Travel Tips for Boracay Island

Walk to the end

by she_bangs

White Beach is a long strip of white sand, but a lot of people, foreigners especially, don't know that the quality of the sand gets better as you walk down the beach in the direction of station 1. Most of the hotels are clustered in stations 2 and 3, while the more expensive resorts are in the secluded part of the island in station 1. To maximize your stay on the island, walk over to the end of the beach (near Fridays resort) where the sand is finer and much whiter than it is on the rest of the island. The beach is less crowded too. It may be a long walk from station 2 or 3 but you won't even notice it with the great view all the way.

Boracay is a place where the word inhibition doesn't exist. Probably the alcohol, or the isolation, or both. I don't know. I like the place because of the beautiful people. Most of whom are friendly. The place is awesome and is made more endearing by its people. I was looking at my boracay pictures and i thought I had to post this one. I just find this pic funny.=D

beach ultimate

by uysijessa

every summer the PUA holds their annual summer beach ultimate tournament in boracay, the boracay open, usually in the month of either February, March or April. Ultimate is basically frisbee for the uninitiated. boracay has its own team, the boracay dragons, who are the best and (as far as i remember) remain unbeaten in their home turf. teams from all over the philippines and as far as australia converge in boracay for the weekend tournament and its fun to watch these guys (and girls) run around in the sand chasing a disc. matches are done during the day and don't forget to stay for the partying done at night! a frisbee is all you need.

Secluded Beach

We sailed with the Red Pirates paraw (native sailing boat) to Baling Hai Beach, a quiet little private beach far removed from the busy White Beach. There are 4 or 5 little cottages on the hillside, and a small restaurant at the top of the cliff serving lunches and fruit shakes. If you don't fancy taking on all those steps (there are a lot) your food and drinks will be lowered down the cliff-side in a basket. This little beach is very peaceful, and lovely for swimming and snorkeling. You won't be bothered by vendors here as it's a fair way from the main road and hard to access on foot. It's a great place to spend an afternoon - you won't want to leave - but better not to bring the kids as its a haven for people who need quiet relaxation.

Boracay Souvenirs

by thomyorke about Boracay shops

There are shops everywhere in the island selling native crafts and souvenirs. A lot of people are buying lanterns made of bamboo and cloth with native and ethnic designs. I suggest that you try the shops further inside cos they are chaper.
