Down-to-earth-no-frills deal!

Stayed at Orchid's resort for 3 nights... it was the most relaxing 3 nights of sleep I've had since ages... busy lifestyle, stress, etc... made my tranquil stay at Orchid's truly amazing...

Recommend this to anybody just wanting to have some peace and quiet with the most down-to-earth prices... (you're already stressed out, right? so why go to a vacation to spend more and thus deal with more added stress?)

Unique Quality: native style rooms made it realistically a vacation in paradise...

the free breakfast we got was quite good...

Orchids Resort

I booked myself and family into the Orchids Resort from the U.S., without ever seeing the resort, relying on their published descriptions of their accomodations. While the boat ride to Boracay was interesting, including wading in from the bangka boat, when we saw the accomodations available at the resort (no air conditioning, no hot water), we decided to look around the island and find some more appealing hotel. My wife found one, with half the space of the Orchids hotel, but with air conditioning and hot water. The price was the same as for the Orchids ($90 a night). We asked the Orchids hotel manager to refund our nonstay, but no response. I also tried to get the travel agency to refund the amount, but was never answered. I even camped out at the tourist agency office in Manila, but they never opened the office.

Unique Quality: The island boasts no vehicular traffic by the beachfront accommodations, just a sandy path from one end of the island to the other. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear... rubber sandals with no other protection will cause your feet to be rubbed raw. An interesting out of the way tour is available by going to the local market, and continuing inland where you will find a paved road. There are many commercial tricycles plying this strip, which will take you to a butterfly farm, or to the top of the island. There are many buffet dinners available along the beachfront.

Cheap Accomodation in Station 3

A low-budget resort features native cobanas and rooms made of native bamboo and nipa. Each room furnished with uniquely designed batik curtains and bamboo features, and with individual unappealing bathroom and shower facilities.
The package that time is 3 Days & 2 nights worth $23 and per night is $11 (off-peak is around $8). Breakfast is free with 3 menus only. You may request them to cook other food that you bought with a charge per kilogram. Free coffee or tea served all day.
Airport pick-up from Kalibo to Caticlan Jetty Port is inclusive in the package because they are coordinated with Island Star Express - bus/van (transportation fee is Php200 if you did not avail any package deal). They will assist you up to Boracay port then a resort's staff member will be waiting for your arrival at station 3.

Bora at a Budget

My friends and I went to Boracay January of 2006. Peak season right? Yup, but Orchids Resot gave us 900/night rate in a comfortable and cool room. The service isn't that great but when in Bora: beach during the day...gimmick at night so it didn't really matter. Over all, this resort is a great budget option.

Unique Quality: Comfortable hammocks, common balcony with free coffee every day.

A Station 3 accomodation

LOCATION :
This place is located 5-10 mins away from station3, more than 30mins away from the Dmall if your walking. It is not beach front and you have to walk in an "eskinita" to ge there. During night the white beach walk path in this area is very dark. Probably due to the fact that some part of the beach front location is still in the construction process of building other resorts. The beach area here is not that nice. Lots of pebbles. We had to walk towards station 2 before going swimming.

AMENITIES : Its pretty basic and rustic accomodation. The room was ok I guess. Water and electricity was working properly. Matress and pillowcase in bed is obviously old and the color is already faded. Bucket and pail are of good condition. We were disappointed with the provided towel. It has a large hole in it! and there were some stains that resembles the color of rust. We didn't use it. Another is that trash weren't emptied regularly. A resident cat made a mess of the trash bin outside our room.

VERDICT : Guess we made a mistake in staying here. Probably not the best to be here @ this time of the year (july). Because walking would consume a great deal of your time not to mention you'll be exhausted if you want to frequently visit station 1 and 2 area.

Unique Quality: The only thing that I liked here is the cute native lamp with yellowish light bulb.

Boracay Budget Accomodation

It's not beach front but it's close enough. Located near Boat Station 3, Orchids is value for money. The staff were decent. Toilets aren't the best. Rooms are spacious. I loved our porch (good for hanging out).

Unique Quality: Hammocks!
