Staying in Sand Castles during our honeymoon is a total disappointment. We stayed in ther apartment type accomodation. The room is so small while the living room and kitchen is so spacious.
Here are some of the problems that we encountered: a. Cockroaches inside the room b. Towels with holes c. They are switching the aircon when the guests is not inside their rooms ( to conserve energy?%&) d. Reservation was made through internet booking and we are holding a written confirmation that states the room that we want, yet upon check- in we were assigned to a different room. e. We waited for 30 minutes at their check in counter coz we were advised that the room was still being clean though they are expecting their guests to arrive anytime.
Poor service, unsatisfactory cleanliness and reservation system.
I would definitely not recommend this resort.

Sandcastles
We stayed here during my 1st visit (July 2005). They were renovating that time - the other half of the resort was going to be leased (now the boracay dream beach house or something). It was very noisy, workers were starting at around 7am so no chance of sleeping late. Since they were renovating, we were upgraded to a Cottage accomodation :) Booking directly to this hotel would cost a bundle, but we were able to get a better deal through the Palakbayan Package of Philippine Airlines (only you have to be travelling with PAL). The cottage area, since it is of the native kind had several plants along the pathway was a little too "malamok" - there were too many mosquitos.
Unique Quality: They have several types of accomodation: Apartments (most expensive) - a buidling/apartment type of course, having a full service kitchen; Cottage - a rustic/native type of accomodation; and Standard type - also a native type of accomodation but in a small building setting;

Breakfast at Sand Castles
The accomodation comes with breakfast. You have a choice of a light or heavy breakfast, with rice or just a toast. and this is what makes me jump with joy, the coffee is available, 24 hours a day!!!

"Easy come, easy go" travel
Sandcastle has all the amenities one looks for when traveling to a beach resort - it's right on the shoreline, very close to the hub of nightlife and equidistant (on Boat Station 2) to Boat Station 1 and 3.
The one thing this place lacks though is a pool, but with a perfectly beautiful beach right outside one doesn't tend to miss the pool all that much. There is no room service here but their fridge in the rooms are well stocked with water, juice, beer and are not expensive (at least, I would say they were very affordable). The rooms were nice and spacious and each of the cottages had their own nice hammock one could chill out at. The staff was cordial and welcoming and the manager, a wonderful person who wouldn't mind sitting and talking to visitors or patiently explain where to go, what to do while in Boracay. Overall, it was a very good place to stay.
Unique Quality: The view from the restaurant was just fabulous! The conference rooms and facilities are just perfect for an outward bound program.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. The bamboo inspired rooms is comfortable, with aircon, cable and a hot/cold shower. the bed sometimes is squeky but nevertheless you can have a good sleep on its not so firm and not too soft mattress. the staffs are all friendly and very accomodating, and always assist you with a smile. The service is first rate. The staffs will treat you as if you already stayed there a long time. They also have Jaidah, a very friendly labrador that will go with you swimming if you call her name and asks to swim with you. she's so sweet and she'll actually allow you to scratch her tummy. they also have Febe (for february) who is very active and always run because she's still young.
