Dec in boracay?

by gweneyth

My teenage daughter is going to Boracay with her friends this December. With much difficulty they managed to get lodging at Casa Pilar (price is way inflated-90 US a room!). We have some time before confirmation of payment. Anybody knows where else is available during this `very very peak season'? And is the place safe for teenagers on their own?

I hear that Arwana resort has vacancies too. I'll make some more inquiries for you.
The girls will be fine if they take sensible precautions - don't trust strange guys, don't wander around alone on the beach at night in quiet areas, keep a close eye on possessions and don't get too drunk! Boracay has a friendly atmosphere, they'll have a great time.

Try
Orchids Inn at http://www.orchidsboracay.com
Dave's Straw Hat Inn at http://www.davesstrawhatinn.com/
B&B Resort at http://www.boracayisland.org/bnb.shtml
Tonglen Beach Resort at http://www.philippines-boracay.com/
Nigi-Nigi Beach resort at http://www.niginigi.com/
(these are more-or-less in ascending order by price)

If that doesn't do it, try the Boracay Foundation web site at http://www.boracayisland.org/, and click "Accommodations". The "Boracay Vacation Wizard" on that page will send an inquiry stating your preferences, travel dates, and contact information out to numerous individual Boracay hotels and resorts.

Thanks Sirenna. Could not get onto Arwana's website; I don't think there is any. Assuring to know that the girls will be able to have good clean fun. They are really looking forward to it. Just being cautious as a mother. Thanks again. Have sent requests to various hotels and resorts; fully booked apparently and only positive reply seems to be from Plaza hotel but room picture with its pinkish hue of a curtain looks sleazy. Anyway, will try again.

Thanks Boracaybill. Had tried some of these places; full too or so the agents claimed. Will try the boracay foundation website and see what they can advise. Thanks.

Arwana don't seem to have a website, but you can call them on 0063 (0) 36 288 5821. I passed by there today and they have vacancies around Christmas. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the place seems very nice. You can also email them at arwana_boracay@hotmail.com.

We were in Boracay three weeks ago and i picked up a rate sheet from Boracay Courtyard Beach Resort e-mail boracaycourtyard2003@yahoo.com for rates and availability. This is how I usually start my research.

Travel Tips for Boracay Island

Petrol Stations

by sirenna

If you have rented a motorbike or quad, it's good to know where to top up the gas. There are quite a few of these little petrol stations are located along the main road, but you could easily drive past them if you don't know what to look out for. They sell the petrol in old coke, rum or cooking oil bottles.

Always be with you

by lhai

Any luggage you want as long as it could carry all the things you'll need. don't forget a beach bag! it's nice to have your things with you while wandering 'round white beach, it's a long stretch white sand, so better you have your enough money & celfone with you in case you need it. Light clothes, of course you basic needs (you knew it more than others), camera of any kind, video-cam, tri-pod (for group pix) :) of course your pretty two-piece swimsuit! Shades! slippers! money, atm cards, credit/debit cards, map,

Kayaking

by sirenna

The clear, placid waters of Boracay are ideal for kayaking - whether you're an absolute novice looking to splash around on the beach or an experienced paddler ready to take off on a round-the-island voyage.
Kayaking in the shallows will give you amazing views of the coral reefs, and you can also do a spot of beach-hopping. There are several outlets along the White Beach where you can rent a kayak, including Scuba World.

Secluded Beaches in Boracay 5

by jgbrillantes

The third beach is better for skindiving than on the Beach Front (where all the resorts are), but not better for skindiving near the Crocodile Island. It has a small beach with a little overhang so one can get away from the sun when one is tired of swimming.

Hand Made Sandals

by sirenna about Kaycee Shoes

Searching for an unusual souvenir or personalised present? This shop can create a pair of sandals for you to almost any design, or you can choose from some of the weird and wonderful creations mounted on the wall. They'll also repair broken shoes/bags for you for P10. The price for a basic pair of sandals starts at around P150.
