After several margaritas...
by syllybabe
When the weather is great, such as the one we had the first week of March one time, you will most likely end up with a night so clear that the sky will be like a dome above you with the stars and the moon twinkling brightly.
We pulled SeaWind's lounge chairs that look like hammocks close to the water's edge and took turns sharing secrets never before revealed. Hmm...must have been the effect of the moon? Getting out of the bar away from the noise to quietly enjoy our pizza and margaritas...
Come as you are
by asianbelle
As much as possible, take a back pack with you. It is easier to carry especially in getting on and off the boat. Don't ever, ever forget to bring your beach wear. It doesn't matter whether it's a 2-piece or 1-piece swimsuit, tank top and shorts, or even T-shirt and shorts; what is important is, you have one with you. For footwear, rubber sandals or thongs are suggested, although walking barefoot is common. These stuff are readily available in the general merchandise stores scattered within the island. Make sure that your electronic devices and photo equipment are placed in waterproof cases. Getting on and off the boat can get you and your bags wet, especially during high tide.
Bring an underwater disposable camera if you plan to explore the surrounding islands where corals and tropical fishes abound. For those who cannot leave home without their cellphones, both Globe and Smart have strong signals (as evident by their logos printed on the sail of the paraws).
For the VT addicts, there are internet cafes with broadband services. There are also restaurants with wi-fi or hotspots.
While credit card is accepted in select hotels and restos, there are 3 major banks with ATM services - Metrobank, Landbank and BPI - in case you ran out of cash. Metrobank is located at Brgy. Manggayad's busy street, while Landbank and BPI are both along White Beach - Landbank is at Boat Station 1 and BPI is within D'Mall.
Puka Beach
by tony-da-nomad
Puka Beach is in the northern part of Boracay. It is not as popular as White Beach because it's more wind- and wave-tossed. The advantage of this is that at times you may be one of the only people there! The sand is almost as nice as White Beach and I think the quietude of the place is a welcome respite from the often over-crowded, touristy White Beach. It's a great place to have a quiet picnic right on the beach with friends/family. There are also hawkers near the beach who sell various trinkets, including the puka shells (which I think are a bit overpriced).
Boracay Deli - Wide Array of Cheese
by arni_ph075 about Heidiland
Heidiland, the name is taken from a Swiss town near the Alps. Yes, the owner is Swiss, its very much like the famed Santi's here in Manila, selling wide array of cheese , cold cuts, Angus beef's, and other European brand of delis.
The staff are all very knowledgeable of the items that they are selling and all very helpful.
The shop is not for all, but it is really a favorite haunt of the foreigners living in Boracay that miss the salamis and cheeses widely available in Europe. There are a wide choice of imported European cheese, that you can buy with minimum of 100grams.
Fresh vegetables are also available, good for salads.
If you want to prepare your own sandwich, for island hopping trip, buy some cold cuts, cheese, and those baguette's 2 the store. Very near that place is Ralph's Spirits for some wine, as a perfect complement.
Credit card and cash are accepted.
