LITTLE GIRLS SURFERS LODGE: GUEST HOUSE BY THE BEACH
We rented a room here for a week, it came with a bathroom and we had use of the kitchen. The compound is right on the sea and there is a small shelter outside the gate where you can sit and eat. We bought fish most nights and bbq'd on the walkway by the shelter. The beach is not great but ok for swimming. The American owner and his local wife are friendly and have considerable knowledge of the area. As the name suggests they have 2 small daughters who will spend lots of time playing with you. This place is busy during the surfing season, jan +feb but you may be able to get a deal on a room in the off-season.

Isla Virginia: Exclusively Virginia
The management was very friendly. They made sure we all felt at home.
With food, it was superb! We were informed of the menu to be served before we're having our meals. And the serving sizes? It exceeded my expectations. Cuisine is very local.
At nighttime, they might not allow you to go out in the beach alone, unsecured, or unattended. It is a house rule to inform the resort management first, before setting out to a night time's walk along the shore. Night swimming is pretty discouraged as well.
Nevertheless, don't hesitate to ask for a lit bonfire, though. They would gladly do it for you.
Cute cottages!

Bahia de Baler: Only Hotel to Consider when in Baler
This is the best place, hands down winner when it comes to accommodations in Baler. We stayed here back in April 2011 and had booked the hotel in advance as we were planning to go during the Holy Week weekend. We wanted to make sure we had a confirmed booking and the staff who made the reservations were super helpful. They answered all my questions and concerns thru calls/texts promptly.
We stayed at Bahia II and got a Standard Aircon Room with 1 double bed, two complimentary breakfast, colored T.V with cable, hot and cold shower and had a balcony that faced the bay for the price of PhP2,500 (about USD50) per night. We were thinking it was somewhat expensive for a provincial hotel but when we got there we were not disappointed at all. The room was super clean, bed and pillows were comfy, view from the balcony was great, bathroom was super clean with toiletries provided. I could go on and on raving about this hotel. Again, the staff when we got there was absolutely amazing with everyone being friendly and accommodating and helpful from the front desk to the waiters at the restaurant, etc.
The only thing I found wasn't that great (but does not detract at all from my giving this hotel a great review) is that the hotel is not directly on the beach (but still super duper close!). The main restaurant is the one across the street and on the beach so if you are dining at the restaurant it's a short walk away and room service can take awhile because of this. But there is a cafe at the Bahia II building if you want just to have some snacks. Food was great by the way both at the cafe and at the main resto. Beware though that service at the main resto sucks during peak season (i.e. we had lunch and dinner there on Maundy Thursday and food was fast but when we had lunch there on Good Friday it took forever!)
So yes, I would definitely recommend everyone to stay at this hotel. Actually, on second thought, maybe not as we don't want everyone discovering this great hotel and running us out of rooms! hahaha!!

Bay's inn: Cheap and right at the beach
Being first timers in Baler, we were practically at the mercy of the surf tour organizers when it comes to choosing our accomodation. We were made to lodge at Bay's Inn, a popular hotel in Baler which is located in front of the beach.
The room where we stayed were just the right size for us. Triple sharing, 1 queen bed and 1 single bed. Interior of the room was not that pretty, a little old and run down especially the tile counter with sink that will greet you when you open the door it looked so out of place. They do not have too many aircon rooms so we have no choice but to stay in a fan room. It could get warm during the day so be sure to open the windows for the breeze to come in but it gets cooler during the night. They do not have hot showers, actually they do not have showers at all but the water pressure's good so I think that's ok.
I would recommend it for budget travelers like me and for those who are not that picky when it comes to accomodation.
Bay's Inn rooms are clean and comfortable in my standard. I like the big mirror that they installed in our room and the fact that they are just right in front of the beach. I enjoy eating my breakfast while I take pleasure from the scenery of the ocean, the surfers and that amazing yet weird sun rise

Bahia de Baler (2 i think): Classy and comfort
From my experience with surf resorts; they usually have beds, restroom and nothing special. Mostly they were just there to sleep. With Bahia though, I would consider their room as comfort. It's a good place to just chill and relax. The rooms are very cozy and comfortable. The rooms on the 3rd floor have an attic which made the room feel big and yet the A/C was enough to cover everything. The big room's price is more expensive, but it is still relatively cheap compared to hotels in the city or popular places (eg. El Nido, Boracay).
cozy, clean, includes breakfast, have "good morning kit" (includes small toothpaste, toothbrush and soap)

Bay's Inn: Most Popular In Sabang Beach
Bay's Inn is actually our second choice. We were initially booked at Bahia de Baler Garden Resort, but when we changed our schedule and couldn't get a confirmation from Bahia, we opted to stay at Bay's Inn where we got an airconditioned double occupancy room at the Annex Building. We thought it was worth taking the chance to stay there since it seemed to be the most popular among local tourists, judging from the blog reviews we've read.
Our only apprehension was the lack of hot water, which proved to be a real discomfort considering the cold weather and REALLY COLD water from the shower and faucet... but I still would recommend Bay's Inn for budget travelers, despite the cold water, small bathroom (you have to squeeze in your body while closing the door), constantly wet bathroom floor because there is no shower curtatin, flat pillows, and very thin blanket (it's actually a flat sheet)... Notwithstanding all these this, I can say for the price of rooms staying at Bahia Inn could be a good option.
Bay's Inn has its own restaurant where even guests of other resorts go for their meals and snacks. You have an advantage if you're checked in at Bay's Inn because you can order food ahead or have food served at your patio/room.
Bay's Inn boasts of a beautiful beachfront, with panoramic view of Pacific Ocean, Baler Bay and Sierra Madre Mountains.
Right infront of Bay's Inn is the most popular surfing point in Sabang where beginners won't be afraid of the moderate waves as they learn the basics of surfing. Regular surfers also have their practice here.
To give you an idea, here are the room rates (subject to change):
2 pax 2 single beds w/ aircon, tv & bath (Main Bldg) - P850
2 pax 1 double bed w/ fan & bath (Main Bldg) - P500
3 pax 1 double bed + 1 single bed w/ fan & bath (Main Bldg) - P650
2 pax 1 double bed w/ aircon, tv & bath (Annex Bldg) - P950
3 pax 1 double bed + 1 single bed w/ aircon, tv & bath (Annex Bldg) - P1,150
4 pax 2 double beds w/ tv & bath (Annex Bldg) - P1,350
2 pax 1 double bed w/ fan & bath (Annex Bldg) - P500

Bay's Inn: Shacking up in Sabang
Bay's Inn resort has a variety of rooms to suit diverse travelers. From suites for families, or fan rooms for the more basic traveler. There is a dining area that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Overlooking Baler Bay, it is located in the center of Sabang Beach and is just minutes away by foot to the poblacion (town center).
Adventure seekers will be thrilled with Aurora. There are trails to trek, beaches to bask, and of course, swells to surf. Word of advice though, you may want to bring your own gear. There are only a few places to rent equipment and they are not complete. Although the place is perfect for water sports, there are no dive facilities, nor windsurfing equipment.
