Bad experience at Sombria (Anilao-Batangas)

We also had a bad experience at Sombria. The place is beautiful but the service sucks. Our reservation was for an overnight stay and we rented the whole place for 25,000. Everybody was excited because we were so tired from the very long trip and the days work. We were expecting that we can immediately enjoy swimming but when we arrived the pool was dirty. We were so disappointed because it was already around 12 midnight when we got there and we expected everything to be ready for our use. They only started to clean the pool when we complained. The excuse they gave was that there was no electricity until 10 pm so they were not able to clean the pool. However there was ample time to clean it because there was a 2 hour gap from the time the electricity came back and the time we arrived. They should not have waited for our complain before they cleaned the pool. With nothing to do we asked if we could use the videoke for free while we were waiting for them to clean the pool. The staff said that there will be another 1,800 charge for that. We talked to the caretaker and she called the owner but the owner said to still charge us for the use of the videoke plus they had a rule that the videoke could only be used until 12mn. What kind of rule is that when we already rented the whole place and we were the only ones there. Another thing why this place is not customer or guest friendly was when they charged us for the parking because they have no parking space of their own provided for their customer. Naturally guests would bring cars or vans because the place is quite far. P25,OOO is not a small amount to pay. Sure the place and view is great but with this kind of service it's not worth the money or the effort...

Sombria Resort: Great Infinity at Anilao

I've been this resort before. All around anilao dive spots resort's this is the one has beautiful swimming pool and infinity. Im from Turkey. i heard this anilao and we deciced to go there while we were searching some resorts in anilao we found that one best. Foods are great they have many options and sets buffets. for family travel or business training is the best i think. and one more thing.. when i was searching resorts at anilao i saw that comment about sombria. even i know this i deciced to go there but when we arrived there they welcome us very good and i had a chance to talk with the owner she told me everything about that. before you decice better to try i think.

Sunset @Sombria, Swimming Pool infinity, El sombrero Island, big size beds, great delicous foods, and good accomodate.

Sombria - Anilao, Batangas: NIGHTMARE at Sombria Resort

Factual, firsthand experience with Sombria:
A bunch of us (14 pax) reserved 2 rooms at this resort. We paid 3 weeks in advance the amount of P5,500. As things go, half backed out and so that left just 7 of us who wanted to go on with our outing. As soon as we had the final headcount we called up Sombria and told them that we would just be getting 1 room. This was more than a week before our outing. Well, this is when things got sour. In spite of the fact that there is NOTHING AT ALL IN THEIR TERMS AND CONDITIONS which mentions that we have to pay for all the rooms we reserved for, Angelica Aquino told us that we have to get both rooms or else forfeit our deposit. Wow. We politely asked for reconsideration. We even offered to upgrade to a cabana so that they could rent out the main house. Angelica said that both cabanas were taken. So we requested again if we could just get 1 room. To no avail. We told her that they were “mahirap kausap” and she got mad and raised her voice and said that no way were they “mahirap kausap”. Ok fine, whatever you say Angelica. She even had the nerve to tell us “magkano lang naman yung P5,000”, as if money was so easy to find. If it’s that easy to find, how come she’s insisting on letting us rent 2 rooms?! Of course we did not let the issue go. After all our hard earned money was on the line and we had already paid enough for 1 room. After a week, we get a text that we could have our outing but WE HAD TO CHANGE OUR DATE because as their general rule, they do not rent out the rooms on weekends. They usually rent out the whole resort. Why in the first place did they accept our reservation (which was a Saturday)!!? And to tell us to change our date???? Kudos to such excellent customer service! To cut a long story short, after much hassle, Angelica agreed to refund our money. Which we were happy to get because after such shabby treatment, nobody wanted to go to their resort anymore. However, up to this time 8/27/09 6:54am, OUR REFUND HAS YET TO BE DEPOSITED TO OUR ACCOUNT. We have repeatedly called and texted them. Now Angelica is threatening to SUE US!!! The nerve! She said we are harassing them!! She said we have falsified documents. Huh??!! She is even threatening to go to the NBI! Duh.In short, she is refusing to give us our money back, despite the fact that she told us she would. She has really achieved the height of unprofessionalism. We urge everyone to stay clear of this resort and its management, unless you too want have the same experience we are having.

Acacia Dive Resort: Acacia Dive Resort

Acacia dive resort recently opened during the last quarter of 2008. It is a high end resort catering to both foreign and local clients. Their rates are a little expensive, but staying there is worth the expense. The rooms are huge, spacious, and nice. The materials and equipment they have are high end. The food is GREAT! 5 thumbs up. As owner ensures that food served is of top quality. There is a swimming pool, and a part of the pool is a kid's pool for your kids. THere are "chairs" for relaxation in front of the pool, which truly completes your experience when simply chilling and relaxing there. The Staff are friendly and very courteous, always ensuring that customers are treated very well and taken care of. You'll really feel pampered and sometimes you get 'spoiled' (in a really good way because of how they treat you.
They have CHloe, a golden retriever who stays there and swims every day on the beach. Chances are when you go out to take a dip, swim, or snorkle in front of the resort, Chloe would swim beside you and even play catch with you in the water. In front of the resort are beautiful corals. A sight of butanding and whale shark I saw in front of the resort.
Also, there are band/s that play during special occasions.
The place is by reservation, so you should book ahead of time to ensure a place to stay.
Definitely, this is a must place to go relaxation and diving as well.

great food, great service, great staff, great place to relax

Aquaventure: Best Resort in Anilao for Divers

This is the best place to stay when you will go diving as the place is very affordable plus the buffet is really really good!!! Not to mention that everyone who works in this resort is very helpful. The room is clean and offers a big veranda where you can sip your mango shake in between dives. The bathrooms are clean as well with hot water.

You can opt for their ala carte meals if you don't like the buffet BUT when you see the buffet, I am sure that you will opt for the buffet instead.

Crystal Blue Resort in Anilao: Nice, newer resort

This resort is newer and well done. We stayed in the smallish family room (2 adults, 2 kids, 1 yaya) for 4,500P in low season, right after a typhoon. Lots of new towels and new sheets, nice tiled, clean bathroom. We were the only guests there and everyone was very nice and attentive to our needs. The food was good and reasonably priced.
The verandah is nice and so is the sandy terrace. The jacuzzi is neat as well. The dive shop has everything you need, except for a dive master, who they got for us from Arthur's Resort next door.

This resort is much better than Eagle Point, Planet Dive, and Dive Solana.

Philpan Resort: A swim after the trek

After going up a mountain (Gulugod Baboy), it is nice to take a dip (or maybe even dive) at Philpan Resort located at the foot of the mountain. We didn't check in for a night but took one table with shelter to rest and swim before going back to Manila. The table costs Php300, and entrance is Php60/person.
