La Luz Beach Resort: A place to unwind

by nixca316

One of my best friends turned 30 last Saturday so she decided to celebrate it in La Luz.
We prepared for this for months. The rest were more successful than I was, but I was sorta kinda successful myself.

I've been hearing nice things about the place from different people, but I decided not to expect much.

True, it was far from what I imagined. The beaches are not combed(well, maybe they are, but there are too many pebbles that hurt my feet), but the water is clear and the place is clean.

The people are very friendly and accommodating.

What do I mean when I say it's less expensive than average? I could only compare the price of the place to the places I go too. There are probably more affordable places in the province, but for the ambiance, it is definitely more reasonable than other places nearby...plus, the food they serve during dinner is to die for!

Would I recommend the place to others? OF COURSE! I had a wonderful time!

Overnight stay check-in time is at 1:00 pm and checkout time is at 11:00 a.m. The following are the updated 2010 rates for each room per night:
Standard PhP1,800 max 6 people (Fan, 2 Semi-double beds)
Junior Premier PhP2,550 max 4 people (Aircon, 1 Queen Size bed)

Premier Loft PhP4,300 max 10 people (Aircon, 5 Semi and 1 Double bed)
Annex PhP2,550 max 4 people (Aircon, 2 Semi Double Beds)
All guests are required to avail of the 1,100 pesos (formerly 1,050) food package per person for an overnight stay, which includes a lunch upon arrival, afternoon snack, dinner and breakfast the following day before checkout. All the meals are served buffet style with a minimum of four dishes per meal. Lunch and Dinner come with Rice, Chicken, Pork or beef or Fish, Vegetables, Soup, and Dessert. Juice and purified drinking water are provided with all the meals and breakfast is served with the famous Batangas Coffee. Additional meal prices are as follows: Breakfast - 200, Lunch – 350, Afternoon Snack – 150, Dinner - 400. They do not allow food to be taken into the resort.

Day-trips are also accepted at 750 pesos per head, which includes a Lunch, Afternoon Snack, entrance fee, and use of the resort facilities (beach chairs, cabanas, restrooms and dining pavilion). Guests can avail of rooms for an extra charge based on the rates listed above. Day trips are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Here are some activities:

Massage- Therapeutic massage using oil is available by trained staff from the local Barangay. P250/hour (We tried this...and it's a wonderful experience. After the hour is through you would want to extend it)

Snorkeling- Snorkel and goggle sets are available for rent at P100/3 hours.

Boating-Local motorized outrigger boats (bangka) are available to explore the cove for P300/hour.

Kayak-You may rent the Kayaks for 2 or 3 and paddle around at P200 an hour. (I enjoyed WATCHING the people Kayaking)

Diving- La Luz is not a dive resort but there are 2 dive sites that are in front of the resort. Inquire with their staff. Guests should have their own gear. Tank rentals are available at P100 per tank. Dive Masters will have to be arranged in advance. (When I went up the rocky hill, I wondered if I could cliff dive instead...it's good that I did not dare LOL for I wouldn't know what could have happened to me if I did)

Volleyball-Rent the ball from them and enjoy beach volleyball. P50/use

Hiking- Mount Daguldol is a popular site for hikers. Naambon Falls and the Peak with breathtaking views are the highlights of the journey. A local guide can be hired for P350/day or P700 for an overnight camping expedition.

Bonfire-This is available for stargazing on the beach at night for free. The resort arranges one bonfire at a designated area per night for the enjoyment of all our guests. (I love the background Portuguese Music...)

Board Games- Playing cards, sungka, dominos, scrabble and chess sets are available for rent. P100/day

Canyon Cove: White sand near the Metro

by Nita300

Was surfing the net and bumped into pictures of the resort. They had plans to make a residential beachfront resort but due to finances opted to open the resort to the public. With olympic sized amorphous shaped infinity pools overlooking the ocean.. realxation is not a problem.

The rooms are really spacious. 3 beds/studio type room. bar, tv, coffee makings, bathtub, terrace.

Only thing I can comment on is the food.. although value for money because the hotel is really expensive and splurging on the food is not a problem.. I have tasted better.

the proximity to metro manila combined with the white beach, beautiful pool, really comfortable hotel.

the beach is white sand with smooth sand. the hotel pool is a stone's throw away.

Althoug those "serious" beach junkies might get dissappointed. the beach is cloudy, waves are rough and snorkeling is not good.

Eaglepoint: Beach Resort near Metro Manila

by Nita300

My family (2 boys and hubby) loves the beach. We love the sand, the snorkeling and sunbathing. But, I have to admit tat we are sort of urbanites so we are also creatures of comfort. Read: clean bathrooms, rooms with view, good food. All of these, we get in Eaglepoint Resort.

Eaglepoint resort is actually situated in a rocky cliff at the coast of Anilao. They can provide transport however to the resort's private white sand island: Sepoc beach. A few meters from the shore (from the beach and hotel cliff itself) are perfect snorkeling sites. You'll be surprised with the abundant marine life. After a day of lying on the beach, there's 2 pools and a rec room (ping pong and billiards, and karoke). The staff are friendly, nice and efficient. The room may not be luxurious but it is comfortable.

My only complaint is that the guest has to shoulder the boat ride expenses going to and fro the private cove (P1200/roundtrip)

La Luz Beach Resort: Batangas Beach

by barbie_sunrise

The rooms and the beach are very clean and friendly service. For a daytour (8am-5pm)it cost 700 per person. It includes lunch buffet and merienda. However, the guys will not satisfy their stomach because the service crew controls the food that was supposedly buffet. My brother and Sister in law wasnt able to eat merienda because there's no food left.

Kabayan: Not the best

by maharlika

By the beach but....room given to us was not dated. Cockroaches in the bathroom. We asked management to clean up a few times. Mosquitos in the room...seemed like the room given to us was the least used. We will never go back.

Punta Fuego: Exclusive Member Only Resort in Batangas

by haikugirlmanila

First, you can't really get a casita (room) here without knowing a member. Since this is a members-only resort, and the uber-riche neighborhood doesn't think highly of tourists. I had the privilege of staying here bec the company booked all the rooms for a management planning thing (yes, apparently they can be bought, haha). So if you're willing to go through the headache of booking a casita, read on.

Punta Fuego is the Hamptons of the Philippines, sort of a recreational weekend home of Manila's creme de la creme. The mansions are gorgeous, but so are the limestone cliffs and the occasional shark sightings. The beach is not fantastic, rocky and well, Nasugbu-beige. But the sea-breeze, the foliage and the stillness makes up for everything else.

Dining here is just ok. Though they do serve good food, the price doesn't justify it.

The Casitas are wonderful, short of a cross between a Mediterranean bunggalow and a Balinese cottage. What i abolutely liked about it is the bathrooms lead to your casita's private open-air mini-garden, which is Romantic if you're the type who'd fantasize about bathing in public.
