La Luz Beach Resort: Value for Money
La Luz was one of the cheaper resorts in Laiya, based on our Internet research. We were a group of 7 (including 2 kids) so we needed a place that didn't charge so much for food and beds. It turned out to be an excellent choice. We stayed there in October 2010, just one night.
Drive: It was a very long drive, even if we were already coming from Cavite. The instructions from the website were clear, except for the part in Rosario. It was good we asked some locals before veering too far from the right route. It was rough road about 1km to the resort. It's under construction, though, so it shouldn't be a problem for future trips.
Reception and Staff: I had very little interaction with the staff, but they were all positive. We were given very refreshing and cold welcome drinks upon arrival, and cold towel. Nice. :)
Room: The Junior Premier room where we stayed at was clean and large enough for 7 people (2 toddlers). There's no TV (I think this is a positive), no ref (we didn't need one). Hotel-grade pillows and sheets would make the rooms truly relaxing.
Food: La Luz requires all guests to avail of the eat-all-you-can food at P1100 per day (3 meals, 1 snack). When we were there, lunch was mostly Filipino food but they were cooked well. Snacks were so-so (pansit, sandwich, puto), but they really delivered during dinner. There was pasta, pork ribs, fish and chicken pastel. Yummy! I think the candlelit setup also made the food more yummy. Btw, kids below 8 eat free so bonus points for La Luz. They DO NOT have an ala carte menu so if you don't like anything they serve, then you don't have a choice. (Not even sunny-side-ups which we requested for the kids).
Beach: If you're expecting very fine white sand, then you'll be disappointed. It's more like pebbles, not very comfortable to walk or sit on. The water wasn't cold, even if the weather was overcast for most of the day. There were a lot of little hermit crabs that the kids had fun catching. If you venture a little farther out, you can already see larger fish.
Extras: 1-hr massage costs P250.
Overall: Very good value for money.
Unique Quality: Reasonably priced. Great view, especially if you cllimb the rock formation to the right side of the resort.

Pahiyas: Laiya Budget Accommodation
Situated right beside the famous Kabayan resort in Laiya stretch, Pahiyas offers reasonable price ranges perfect for groups on a budget. During off peak season, their cottage that can fit up to 8 costs Php 2500 per night. This includes 2 fan rooms, a kitchen with gas stove & utensils, one bathroom and a dining area. This resort is ideal for those who opt to spend most of their time along the beach. I wouldn’t recommend this had the traveler wanted to relax and unwind, simply because of its facilities. They don’t have a pool neither a restaurant. Food and drinks must be brought during this trip.

Acuatico Beach Resort: Batangas' Tourist Haven
One of Laiya’s best beach resorts. There are a variety of rooms to choose from with rates starting at 6,300 per night inclusive of free breakfast. Each room is fully furnished with a wall mounted 32 inch lcd tv, air conditioning system and resort-wide wifi internet access. The resort itself has an infinity-edge pool, game room. Kids play room and basketball court, they also have water sports facilities such as Kayak and Pedal Boat. One buffer meal costs Php 500 per person and if you would like a set up along the shore, it will cost php750 per person (serving the same menu offered in buffet). The resort is indeed luxurious, except that their beach front isn’t that astounding; plainly because acuatico is situated at the far end of Laiya – where it’s a bit rocky.
Unique Quality: Luxurious rooms

Laiya Austria: Budget convenience in Laiya
-we got the aircon room for 6 pax one or 2 wks before holyweek
- has kitchen, ref, stove, grill, plus utensils and dining area
- beds are okay, rooms have own bathroom
-a little far from the beach
-staff is kind, acommodating and friendly
-getting a reservation isn't a headache
considering the season (peak and holy week) we were really ssatisfied with the service of this simple resort. My mother, usually cynical about "cheap" accomodations, had nothing negative to say about this place. Highly commended if you are on a budget!

Laiya Coco Grove Resort: Great, realxing place on the beach
Great place for a relaxing weekend
Accomodations: there are poolside cottages and really neat treehouses right on the beach (with aircon and full bathroom, but no hot water – not needed, anyway) and a lanai with a table, chairs, and outdoor shower underneath. . Beach chairs are available upon request
The treehouses are sparsely furnished and basic, but are very clean and each person gets 2 fluffy towels (Bring your own beach towels though!)
Food: all you can eat buffet, with simple but good Filipino fare. One round of drinks is included with meals. Breakfast has pancake/omelette station as well.
Swimming pool: nice, clean and basically on the beach
Beach: The water is very clear, especially in the morning and later in the afternoon. The beach is wide and the sand is fun to play with; and clean as well (seaweeds and washed up trash gets raked away often).
Other activities: Also part of the resort, but a short walk away from the main area, is an ‘extension beach’ with a mangrove and lagoon nature spot with a couple of short trails and some neat bridges (a hanging bridge and a see saw bridge). For the daring, there’s also a ‘flying fox’ ride - from a tall tree right onto the beach. Kayaks are also available, as well as board games, darts…and a trampoline. There are volleyball and basketball courts. We didn’t go, but there is a driving range and a small man-made lake on the property where you can fish or rent a pedal boat….oh and ponies too!
Wildlife: lots of crabs (some beautiful blue and orange ones too!), small white fish that jump out of the water, sea urchins (beware! We had to relocate a couple after the kids had a rough encounter with them!)
Rates: during low season, it was P 3,197 per person (including 1 night accommodation in a treehouse, 2 lunches, 1 breakfast and 1 dinner). Kids under 5 are free, kids over 5 get 50% off.
