My husband, me and our son went to Panglao Island, Bohol last Dec. 6-9, 2007. It was such a great experience.
The only fly in the ointment was Alona Kew Restaurant. We just took a dip in the beach and decided to eat at around 9am. We saw that the Alona Kew Restaurant was a nice place and went into the place. Unfortunately, the waiter didn't allow us to sit down. According to him, their manager will get angry at him if he lets wet guest eat at the restaurant.
For crying out loud, they are situated at the beach! And there was no sign whatsoever in the vicinity that says the Alona Kew Restaurant don't cater to wet guest!
What a let down. I think future visitors should be wary of the place!

Stayed here for two days and 1 night. We took the cheapest accommodation for P2,600 good for 3 pax. No aircon, cable TV and ref. The water from the faucet and shower is salty. Our free breakfast is sumptuous.
Unique Quality: Our cottage is very near to the beach and the swimming pool. Great views.

Stayed here February 2007 with my daughter, and she loved it. We knew it was a modest, comfortable, no-frills resort but we were extremely pleased with the service. Most of resorts in Panglao have either a honeymoon or a diving dig kind of feel, and kids are not really at home with that. My daughter travelled alone with me and would have been extremely bored if we stayed in that kind of resort. Alona Kew however, had a more family feel. Because a lot of the rooms were "family rooms" it was kind of resort that attracted couples with kids. So my daughter had a lovely time mingling. The food there is also kid-friendly (spaghetti, hotdog, fries), though not very imaginative. All-in-all its a pretty nice stay. We'd love to go back again!
Unique Quality: Alona Kew is right in the middle of Alona Beach. So it gives a good vantage point when you want to venture out to the other bars/restaurants along the beach.
The staff also is quite helpful in fixing dolphin-watching tours.

Alona Kew has rooms near the beachfront and up a small hill, by the poolside. The place is a great getaway from Manila.
There are family rooms and suites. My family and I got a room near the beach with a double bed. The resort provided mattresses and beddinngs for our two girls on the floor. Everything was correct!
The resort has a café near its entrance, where breakfast and lunch are served. But in the evenings, they transform the beachside to a dining area al fresco.
The accommodations are not luxurious, but the place is very clean, functional and pleasant. It's a good option if you're looking for a beachfront resort, with a pool, but would like to stay on a budget.

Alona Kew Beach Resort is the most popular in Panglao Island. It is located in the middle of Alona beach and the beside the mandatory final stop of all motor vehicle. For the first timer without prior reservation at Panglao, Alona Kew is the first resort he will see. It has a good restaurant and I always take my brewed coffee therein. Just accross the resort is the Tourist Information Center.
The non aircon rooms are on the two story structure near the beach front. The duplex type cottages are aircon rooms. the concrete stairs will lead you to the upper part of the resort where the executive rooms and the swimming pool are located.
the non aircon rooms are smaller, with two single beds, a closet and a bathroom. It has a terrace with a small table and a chair. The rate is P800.00 a day.
The aircon rooms are bigger, almost the same size as those in Alona Tropical. The rate is P1,800 a day.
Unique Quality: It is strategically located. It has a nice beach front.

Although we spent most of our time at the beach and touring, the place allowed you peace and quiet since there was no TV in our room and the guests were quiet, too.
Unique Quality: Alona Kew is very well situated in the center of Alona Beach. No one arrives in Alona Beach without passing through Alona Kew.

we had the fan room but it's very comfortable......... they also have their own swimming pool and the staffs are friendly........they also have their own restaurant........

We stayed in an airconditioned room with hot water. No fridge though. I would recommend this place, the staff is very friendly. They have arranged for us use of scooter and a dolphin watching trip.
Very nice beach, you can build sandcastles. There's a lot of boats on the beach though.
Attached is a night shot of White Beach.. Great food, choice of european meals in the resort's restaurant. E.g. mashed potatoes, corden-bleu.
Aquatica is across and near Alona Kew Beach Resort. it is a two storey, all concrete strusture. It is more of an apartment type of accommodation than a hotel.
The rooms are air condtioned, with beds, closet and bathroom. The rooms are spacious and the biggest one I have seen so far in Alona Beach. A dive shop is within its compound. it does not have a restaurant but there are 3 restaurants beside Aquatica.
The rate is P1,800.00 a day. The second floor rooms have good view of the sea. Big rooms.

Thanks a lot for the replies, guys. Just read on some travel agencies' sites that there's also a tennis court at Alona Kew. Has anyone seen it there? I guess Alona Kew is closer to Alona Palm than Bohol Divers Resort?

Alona Beach is just a 1-kilometer stretch of white sand beach where those resorts you mentioned are located. Alona Kew is between Alona Palm Resort and Bohol Divers' Resort. i don't there's a tennis court in Alona Kew.
Flushing Meadows Resort does have a international standard tennis court within their hotel. it's not located in Alona Beach though.
Alona Kew is very well situated in the center of Alona Beach. No one arrives in Alona Beach without passing through Alona Kew.
