Our stay in Bohol
by scarletf about Amarela Resort
This place is a new resort in Panglao. The amenities and the interior design are great. We enjoyed our stay here. The staffs are accommodating... yet... they lack enough people to support big accommodations. Hence, sometimes... it affects their quality of service. The landscape is great with matching beach view.

The resort had the room amenities of a hotel (tub, TV, aircon, safe), and the cozy feel of a bed and breakfast. we stayed in a room overlooking the blue sea. when we left at 530 am to watch dolphins at sunrise, the staff had prepared a hearty breakfast in a lovely rattan basket which we took with us to the boat.
the resort has a library and i brought a book to read in the hammock under the coconut trees. the sea breeze made me doze off. when i awoke, the sun was up, and i took a dip in the pool.
after my swim, i had the local hot chocolate which i sipped in between mouthfuls of suman (the local rice cake) and ripe mango.
the resort arranged a car hire and in the afternoon, we toured a 400-year old church, the tarsier center, and viewed Chocolate Hills from a vantage point.
2 days in the resort passed by quickly. I will surely go back to bohol as i did not have time to check out the bee farm!
US$75-80 per person per day the interiors are a showcase of local artistry - wood carvings, paintings, furniture, etc.
the resort has less than 30 rooms and affords more privacy than the bigger resorts
the service was good - the staff even reserved seats for the ferry to Cebu Island.

by Sans1 about Alona Tropical
Alona Tropical is a reasonably priced resort featuring a restaurant, swimming pool, and dive shop. The beaches are well kept and the staff is friendly and helpful. There are dozens of boats and fisherman, and you can often get one of the boats to give you a tour of the island for $20 USD. The water is crystal clear and you can see colorful star fish, dolphins and other sea creatures as you journey around the island. The evening meal offered by the resort restaurant can be taken on the beach next to the water and illuminated by tiki torches.

BOHOL RESORTS (Panglao Island)
by mariepaz
Hi!
It's me again. I just heard that Ananyana Beach Resort in Bohol is very beautiful. Any comments? I also want to know if anyone stayed there and had a packaged arrangement (3D/2N), if so, can you give me any idea what is the cost?
I am still very confused as to which resort we will be staying (Panglao Island Nature Resort, Alona Palm Beach Resort or Ananyana Beach Resort). I heard PINR is nice but the food is not so good. I just want to have a very nice vacation with my husband and children.
Thanks.
Marie

I heard Ananyana is on the other side... more secluded, less people, very expensive, prices are in $US, romantic atmosphere. You and your husband might enjoy the place but the kids might get bored. I suggest you try Alona Palm Beach, nice pool and nice beachfront location. Also, Bohol Beach Club has more water activities to offer.

Ananyana is on the other side of Panglao Island where another new resort Flushing Meadows is located. Yes, the food is excellent there. But you will be a captive market of the resort since there are practically no other places to eat in that location.
In the Alona Beach area, Alona Palm is a very nice place to stay in, they have the widest beach area, and they have really good food. And if you feel like you want to try out other eating places, the adjacent Alona Tropical has dinner by the beach, and the rest of Alona Beach (walkable from Alona Palm) has an array of restaurants which are far less expensive.
For the kids, I guess the Bohol Island tour (would take about 1 day) to Chocolate Hills, Loboc River Cruise with lunch and the Tarsier would interest them.
On another day, a dolphin watching boat ride which then proceeds to nearby Balicasag Island would be good.

I just came back from Alona Beach last month. I stayed at Amarela Resort which was quite nice. I paid about $100 a night (from asiatravel.com) and was upgraded to a deluxe room upon arrival.

alona tropical and amorita is right beside each other.
alona tropical is right on the beach - the part of alona that has a wide beach. they have a long shoreline for their property.
the room we got was poolside - it was near the access road and right in front of the pool.
amorita is situated on the cliff but with an access stair to the beach.
i will post my tips soon :D

infinity pool was for the highest category rooms (we didn't see this). we only saw the regular pool which is rectangular and not even remotely close to being an infinity pool

We've stayed at Alona Palm Beach Resort and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. I highly recommend this resort.

for me the best are those at the easternmost part of alona beach which has wider shore area at their beach fronts . i recommend alona tropical. bohol divers, isis bungalows and alona kew are somewhat at the middle area and with good facilities. if money is no problem, alona palm beach at $100++ per night would be the best.

Alona Palm Beach is best, also most expensive. Then Alona Tropical. Then to the right when facing the sea, there are villas there. It's like your own little house right at the beach, romantic! Check out my Bohol pages for some pictures. I also have the list of Bohol resorts and contact numbers.
