Hi, Jhed! When we went to Bohol, we also went for a Panglao Island tour right after getting our bags from the plane. We used the services of a tour coordinator who didn't charge us on a per head basis. I'll email you his contact details, as I don't want to be misconstrued as advertising. You can consider him as one of your options.

Hi,

Here's a link of the transpo contact we used when we did the Panglao tour. The tour included lunch during the Loboc River Cruise.

Travel Tips for Panglao Island

Go Dolphin Watching!

by brownkoala

Hire a boat and go dolphin watching. The whole day trip including dolphin watching, Balicasag Island and sand bar hopping would cost around 2000 pesos. The boats they have in Panglao Island are bigger and the boatmen are friendly. You would just have to get up really early to go dolphin watching. You would have to meet the boatmen by 5am to 5:30am so you won’t miss the dolphins. They come out really early before the sun gets too hot for them. Bring food for the trip or once in Balicasag Island, you can buy fresh fish from the locals and have them cook it for you with a fee of course. They also have sodas and rice available or even vegetables or other food. After a delicious lunch, frolic under the sun and enjoy the beach. You can go infront of Balicasag Island Dive Resort. The sand and water in this part are excellent. Clear and so clean. Locals would also ask you to go snorkeling or feed the small fishes in their fish sanctuary. I think that’s about 200 pesos per head. After Balicasag, ask the boatmen to take you to the sand bar. The place is a small private island with an unbelievable sand bar. If you stay there for at least 3 hours, you almost feel that you have it as your own because only a few tourists come there at a time within the day. You get a nice view of Panglao Island and even Mindanao. Fresh air, perfect sun, fine white sand and beautiful ocean!

White sand beach & Scuba diving

by KernelPanic

From Manila you can take a plane ride using either PAL or Cebu-Pacific, going to Tagbilaran. The ride from Tagbilaran to Panglao is about 30mins; est. Php300.
The room rates with AC is around Php1800-Php3000 per night in Panglao.
Go to Scubaworld for Scuba dives. They charge around $22-$24 USD; equipments are in good shape. The dive sites are in Balicasag Island, just 30mins from Panglao (by sea). It is a wall dive drifting with the current.
If you have any questions, just e-mail me. Have fun! Barracuda's...

boat prayers?

by schwein

Something I thought was a bit strange, was that people pray before the beginning of a ferry ride.
Not just a few people... but the whole boat, led by TV screens put up by the crew for movies during the trip.

Do boats crash that often that a prayer is needed?

Maybe it works? Our trip was safe. :)

beach stuff

by sweet_sentiments

ziplock bag (can be bought on outdoor shops) for your belongings not to get wet while you're walking by the beach.... your normal swimwear advil (for headache), immodium (attapulgite) tripod, extra memory/film, extra batts beach hat or cap....or a big hanky for your hair..... sunblock ofcourse!
