Yooneek Beach Resort: Quite the yooneek experience!

I counted six rooms, three on each floor. The rooms are big and very clean. I love how the balcony, walls and interiors including furniture are made of bamboo. It was rustic and charming, just how I like it. We were given the room with the view of the ocean on the second floor. It had a small TV, a fridge and a private balcony that opened up to the coconut grove where we could hang our towels and wet clothes.

Although there is a restaurant and bar across the rooms, it was hardly ever used. Most people, us included, ate their meals outside. How could you sit inside when you could sip your fruit shake and eat your longsilog (typical Filipino breakfast of cured sausage, fried egg and garlic fried rice) and juicy mango staring out into the blue green sea while the ocean breeze caresses your hair?

And that leads us to my favorite part of the resort. The beach bar (above & below). Like a scene straight out of Cocktail, waitresses serve tropical drinks from behind the bar as latin and reggae beats played all day and night. But it was in the mornings that I loved it most. It was dreamlike. My favorite meal of the day was brought to us here, and in this most calming of environments we awoke slowly. Letting the sound of waves lapping on the shore and the trees ruslting in the breeze and the salty-fishy smell in the air coax our senses out to play.

Kota Beach Resort: Very Ordinary

My one night stay here can be described in one word...unfortunate.

I didn`t get a good feeling from this resort from the moment I walked in.

The room was ordinary A/C barely worked, the double bed sagged terribly to the middle.Mosquitos were bad at all times, water ran out on the 3rd shower & in the morning the bathroom smelt of stale urine(without anybody using it).We were supposed to pay 1300 for the room but after logging our complaints & telling them we were checking out early they knocked 200 peso off the price. The only redeeming thing out of our stay

The restaurant food is ok but a tad pricy for what you got.The restaurant is under staffed, kitchen small. We waited an hour from the time we ordered till we ate, admittedly there was a good crowd before us but not enough to justify that long a delay

Marlins Beach Resort: Bantayan`s Best

Marlins Beach Resort on Bantayan Island is a very nice & relaxing place to stay. The beach here was clean, reasonably well kept. The resort itself is well kept, service is good.We stayed in the deluxe room which was 1800 php The resort charged us an extra 100 php each for 5 extra foam mattresses bringing the room to 2300 total, not bad considering there were 6 adults & 3 kids in the room.

As said above there were 9 all up in our room but there was still enough room in the room that you weren`t falling over each other so I would recommend this option if you are a family or a group.

A thing I liked was that Marlins allow you to bring your own food in.We went outside & bought some BBQ manook & hanging rice from a stall up the street for dinner. They advertise this fact on their web site but we had been in the Bamboo Bar all day drinking so we had a fair bar tab so in no way did we feel guilty.I don`t know if I would be comfortable bringing food in if we hadn`t been spending all day in the bar

Kota Beach Resort: great views, poor service, dirty shores

Kota Beach Resort's beach is amazing as compared to the other resorts in the area - turquoise blue waters and white sand. It also has a couple of beach seats under shady coconut trees and 2 small cottages at the beach front where you can hang out with friends or family. However, the beach isn't as clean as it looks. When I was there, I used to walk along its shorelines every morning and pick rubbish up. I easily filled out 3 plastic bags full of trash (plastics, nail polish, used diapers!, wrappers, bottles) every day! I had a talk with the ladies in their office and told them to clean it up because if they continue to NOT do anything about it, guests won't be returning and you'd have bad reviews. They all just nodded and I can see their eyes glazing as I was talking to them about it. Another problem we had with them was that it was so hard to communicate with their office when booking. We had called 3 times and they couldn't give us a straight answer immediately if they've got a cottage available and they'd ask you to call back again after a few days. The second time we called, no one can still confirm our accommodation. Another set of guests we chatted with also had a similar problem with booking so I can definitely say that it wasn't just a one-off situation.

Price: PHP1,700 for a second row cottage with 1 DB and 1 SGL, AC, private bathroom, cold showers.

St. Bernard Beach Resort

the place is out of the center of the town so if your the type who likes to go out to a restaurant at night, this might be alittle inconveniet, although if you dont mind walkingfor about 10 minutes, it would suit you well.

stay was okay, staff was accomodating, owners are helpful

only problem is since its right next to a fishing village one is always accosted by karaoke singing of the villagers until midnight

quaint huts, nice rooms, and the abundance of flowers

Kota Beach Resort: value for money

This is my second time to stay at the resort. We asked for the beachfront cottage and it is literally a hop and skip away from the water! The rate is around PhP1,700 ($35) per night and the cottage fits 3 persons or 4 if you ask for an extra cot.

Food is delicious, big servings and surprisingly affordable. I love having breakfast here, the filipino breakfast of danggit, sinangag and tsokolate. I ordered fresh buko for my afternoon snack and you see one of the resort staff go up in one of the coconut trees and choose the biggest coconut. All for PhP50 ($1.00)!!

Marlin Beach Resort: An Ideal Resort

The resort was very nice. The rooms were spacious and complete with a/c and satellite TV. I was quite impressed. We were given a low season rate.

The location of the resort is ideal. It's near a bakery, some bars (if you prefer not to drink inside the resort), some local carinderia (mini-restaurant) and sari-sari stores.
