Best Cebu Lechon
by ninanavarro about Cnt Lechon
Serves yummy cebu lechon. No need for sauces. Very cheap, spent P400 for 4 people. Infront of SM Cebu. Large parking area also. Accepts cash only. Also serves other dishes, ginisang ampalaya was delicious too. Cebu Lechon!!!! Fresh meat, no aftertaste, just guilt feelings after.
Theres a new aquarium in Cebu!
by mrfishman
The Aquarium is defintely woth a visit on an island that lacks tourist attractions apart from the shrine. We saw seahorses, sharks, jellyfish, octopus and fish. The admission fee was cheap, it's not as big as Manila Ocean Park or other Oceanariums, but its still good and the kids loved it. The staff were friendly and gave us a guided tour which was very informative. Recommended but beware of the school kids - it seems to be popular with schools!
Magellan's Cross
by kemisteryoso
Around 500 years old , A cross was planted by Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan to celebrate the baptism into the Roman Catholic religion of Rajah Humabon (leader of Sugbu), his wife, and their followers on1521.It was housed in a small chapel near the Basilica of Sto Nino.
The original cross is encased on a Tindalo wood to protect it from deterioration etc. It was also believed by many to be miraculous that’s why before people chipped away part of the wood.
Cebu City Hall now uses the cross as a symbol and the chapel’s image can be found in the city seal.
You can buy colored candles here for 50 pesos and let some women wearing colorful clothes to dance in front of the cross saying some form of prayer. You will tell them first what are your intentions and their chant will begin.
It's just hard to take a whole photo of the cross and the ceiling. You need to lie down to have a better view.
