Well Accomodation ...

I did stay in this Hotel several times and my ranking is 7 over 10 ...

First of all Fuenta location is very good, mostly everywhere is in walking distance, Ayala and SM Shopping Malls are just 15 mins by cab ride, or even if u r on budget, there r all the times jeepneys passing thru in front of the Hotel. For ur needs Mercury Drugstore is just at the corner open 24/7, also McDonalds .... KFC, Chowking etc are also very close, and in case u r looking for Nightlife, Mango Square is less than 5 mins walk on ur left side as u go out of the Hotel.

Rooms are more than average, aircon and hot water all the times, and if u dont mind for just bucks more pesos, just decide for Deluxe Room, in which u gonna have the advantage of Breakfast in the morning included at the Coffeshop at the Lobby, more bigger room w a double AND a single bed, and the rooms r on the back side, sothat u r not disturbed w the traffic hassle of the front side rooms ... :)

Cebuanas r well on greeting u on arrival at reception, and in case u remind them on reservation, ur room will be kept tilll midnight without cancellation even as u arrive w a late plane from Manila or elsewhere ...

Housekeeping cleans up the rooms every day, towels and sheets r changed etc ...

On the first floor of the Hotel there is a Massage and SPA Facility, on which several days of week they make promotions to lower the price for 50 %.

As result, if u r ready to pay 200.- USD for a 5 star hotel in another location of Cebu, just go ahead, but if not, thats a clean and nice place, more than average, very safe and "stayable" .... :)

Hotel Info

by drodad

Anyone have any info on Elegant Circle Inn at Fuente Osmena? Seems they have a good rate for extended stay.

RE: Hotel Info

by TonyJarman

Not stayed there myself but Fuente is a busy and noisey area with Filipino's of dubvious attitudes around the area. My advice is book a decent hotel over the internet for a max of one week (Mariott or Waterfront(Lahug)). Booking it over the net you should be able to get a discounted rate. Once in Cebu look for a hotel you are happy with. You can get really good deals when you are in the city, just ask for the 'local rate' e.g. what Filipino's pay! Depending on what you want you will pay between P500 and P1500 per day.

Travel Tips for Cebu City

Cock Fighting--New Gallera De Mandaue Areana

by Turpa

If you want to dive into the local culture--you must go to the arena to watch cock fighting--2 chickens fighting to the death. This sport is just as popular as football back in the US. I spent 5 hours at New Gallera De Mandaue Areana watching matches. You can also place bets on each match. Bets range from 25 pesos to whatever you want to risk. Anyway, if you like to try new things out this is one of them. I enjoyed it very much and will go back to the arena next time I am in the PI.

Try everything...

by Brycekenshin about Kind a forgot the name...Sorry :(

The food was great and the ambiance is like having a sumptuos lunch or dinner at home with great home cooked food. the food is served in various local ware such as bamboo mats for the table and also the servers wear traditional clothes denoting the feel at home character. also serves great halo-halo. Grilled Pusit and Sinigang na baboy.

Best BBQ & yummy seafood

by ninanavarro about Orig AA BBQ

Serves juicy chicken and pork BBQ best eaten with the special salad served for free. Salad is a mixture of tomatoes, onions, green mangoes, in a special vinegar dip. A glass casing shows several raw seafood items which can be cooked/grilled at your request. We had pork BBQ, baked scallops & tahong!!! All served fresh and succulent. BBQ & scallops!!!

Dried danggit or fishes

by brownkoala

For danggit or other dried fish delicacies, go to Tabo-an market where they'll also conveniently seal the items you bought for easy, mess free and not to mention smell-free plane ride back to Manila. From capitol area, Osmeña Blvd, take a jeepney marked with "Tabo-an". Fare is 6 pesos per head. Get off exactly where Tabo-an market is. Or if you're in the Carbon Market area, take a "tartanilla" or a horse drawn carriage "calesa", for 20 pesos special ride to Tabo-an market. You'll have to take a very short walk from the street corner where the driver will drop you off.

Magellan's Cross: A symbol of Filipino Catholicism

by thescene

When the explorer Ferdinand Magellan "discovered" the Philippines in the 16th century he brought along a wooden cross which you could say represents the start of Catholicism in this country. THis cross which has since been encased in a bigger cross to protect it is now housed in a small circular structure near the Sto. Nino Basillica. The ceiling of the structure has a mural depicting the events that transpired when Magellan landed in Cebu. A true icon of Cebu and the Philippines.
