Fun places to eat in Cebu City

by kristopherw

Hello everyone !

I will be visiting cebu city for a personal vacation in the next coming months (can't wait!), and i am wondering if anyone can suggest great places to eat for anon-seafood eating person. i love steak, pasta, and vibrant greens. Cebu city has so much to offer in terms of eating and dining but i am wondering if i could hear from anyone who lives there what they would recommend as their absolute favorites.

also, i'm quite fond of halu-halu ! with this said, what great places for desserts such as this Filipino delicacy as well as ice cream could be recommended ?

thanks so much !

Kris

It will depend what mood I am in.

I like dining at Moons cafe on the terraces at Ayala Mall. They have nice foods but one of the main reasons is I like their beer towers. They are about 1 yard high, with a thing in the middle to keep the beer cold. They sit on your table and you serve yourself.

I like dining at Max's and Gerry's Grill. These are franchise restaurant chains in the Philippines

Max's has a large choice of meals but my favourites are crab meat fried rice and camaron rebusado. Both seafood I suppose but they do have the Halo Halo's you are seeking. At Gerry's Grill, I always have a hard time selecting from all the nice foods. Both of these are located in Ayala mall too.

If I have guests, i will always take them to the Sandtrap. Dining by the pool at night is very pleasant. They serve steak at the sandtrap. I don't usually eat steak but I have eaten steak at the Sandtrap several times and thought it was very good.

I like eating the pizza they serve at the Lonestar Bikini bar, with the view as a bonus, but you better check with your better half before you decide to dine there.

Nearly every restaurant in Cebu City will serve Halo Halo. However, I never eat it. My favourite dessert is Leche Flan, also available at most restaurants.

you should try the lechon (roast suckling pig) in Cebu which Anthony Bourdain (No Reservations, http://anthony-bourdain-blog.travelchannel.com/read/hierarchy-of-pork?fbid=pTqE-O8KzjQ ) had rated as the best in the world.

Recommending restaurants is a hard past time because what makes it good for me might not be the same for everyone.

I think if you just head to the Terraces area of Ayala Mall you can`t go wrong. There is something there for everybody

Travel Tips for Cebu City

You gotta try it

by DJ_Rolo

Not because its the best thing ive ever had, but when in Rome... Actually its not that bad, its just a little chewy and knowing what it is made me a lil sick. Yeah i know, i could never be on fear factor. Im sure there are plenty of things around the world that are alot worse... Anyways its 1 day old chick. its a delicacy in Cebu. Ive mentioned it in my restaurant tips. I tried it at a restaurant called Mr. A's. It was nothing to my friends who live in Cebu, but i dont think i can eat it again. Well im not absolutely sure how it works, but i believe right after the chick hatches, you cut the head off and deep fry the rest of it. Once its cooked, stick that bad boy in your mouth and eat it up...

Best Cakes & Breads

by freddie18 about Goldilocks

I know for a fact that Goldilocks had been around for three decades in the Philippines. I happen to be in Cebu and had the chance to taste their specialty.

There are too many snacks to list down in here, but would like to name a few of the best. Cake Rolls & Sponges, native Filipino cakes, Bread Rolls, Sweet Breads, Meat Breads, Pies and Pastries, and many more.

Have a taste of an excellent Filipino pastries for your discriminating taste.

Island Hops in Cebu

ISLAND HOPS IN CEBU

What in the world do you do when you island hop? Good question. Well, island hopping can mean a variety of things. It can actually mean hiring a small outrigger boat which is only 12 feet long but runs with a small powered engine.

Do some adventure and rent a "Banca" to the smaller outlaying islands!

They are beautiful!

Colon Street - Oldest Street in the Philippines

by freddie18

Colon is considered as the oldest street in the Philippines.

This street is named after Christopher Columbus. I took a picture of this street situated in downtown Cebu where you will see a long line of shopping malls, stores, and other business establishments. Colon Street is a bit run-down though.

You will notice a marker that is located at one end of Calle Colon. This street is also known as the Parian District which was the old Chinese district of the city.
