Kawasan Waterfalls
by fcampos86
The Kawasan Waterfalls -are in the mountains outside Cebu (3 hours from Cebu City). Easiest way is a cab, I got a cab for 2000 pesos round trip, and he gave us 2 hours to explore. This is a better as an all day thing. It's about a 10 minute hike to the first waterfall. You can see the three main waterfalls and jump off the main one in about 2 hours. But there is a secret lake you can see that is a 2 hour hike or so supposedly.
P10 entrance fee, but you pay 100 peso for a guide. Definitely worth while, but make sure to negotiate for the rafts, and everything before hand. They will try to charge you 300 for using the raft, and then 300 for each raft guide (I had 2) to climb the first waterfall. In addition, they'll try to charge you for using tables at the waterfall, definitely a tourist trap but very fun!

Basilica Minore Del Santo Nino
by nimato
Not one of the most stunning Philippine church structures I've seen but nevertheless a must visit due to its historical relevance. In 1565, Spanish conquistadors, led by Miguel Lopez de Legaspi, found the blackened image of the Santo Nino encased in a burnt wooden box, believed to be left behind by Portuguese and Spanish explorers in 1521. It is also widely believed that the same image was given to Queen Juana and Rajah Humabon of Cebu by Ferdinand Magellan, as a gift after their Christianization in 1521. Founded in April 28, 1565, the church is the oldest in the Philippines. It stands on the exact spot where the image was found. The first church was made out of earth, hardwood and nipa. The stone church that we see today was only constructed between 1735-1739. Finally in 1965, during the 4th centenary of the Christianization of the Philippines, Pope Paul VI promoted the church to the rank of minor basilica.
An icon of Christianity in the Philippines, a magnitude of church goers attend masses or just visit the church especially on a Sunday. Plenty of security personnel are scattered inside, mostly taking care of the crowd traffic. Many devotess believe that the image of Santo Nino kept by the church is miraculous.
A plaza in front of the church is where the Cebuanos hold the annual Sinulog Festival grand presentation after the city-wide parade. The festival, I think is the liveliest and the best festival in the Philippines (although I haven't personally witnessed it yet, as of this writing.).
Plantation Bay...
by DJ_Rolo
Plantation Bay is a resort located in or around Cebu Philippines. I heard of this place before i came to the PI, but unfortunately i only had the chance to come here at night. This resort looked really nice. There is a big lagoon in the middle, many shops, pools, restaurants and beaches here. I didnt get to see the rooms so i cant say whether they are nice or not, but this is one of the most expensive places here in the PI, so im pretty sure they've got to be kinda nice. They have these golf carts that take you around the resort which was really convenient. They also have a NO tipping policy, its probably the only place in the Philippines that has that!!! One thing i really dont recommend is the Seafood Restaurant here called Fiji restaurant, flavors of the pacific. Its not that great and way overpriced, check my restaurant tips. But outside of the restaurant the place looked amazing. Next time im definitely gonna stay here.
