    Cebu's Newest 5-star Hotel

    by

This hotel opened on 27 September 2010 and we were fortunate to have stayed here 2 weeks later. As expected, the facilities and amenities are new, and the service is prompt.

A slight mixed up in our reservation resulted to us having a room at the top floor with a good view of Mactan Channel.

Unique Quality: Their Super Buffet Breakfast at Feria Restaurant lives up to its name. It has an extensive food selection --- from appetizers to desserts, and beverages --- from its 5 stations composed of Asian & International cuisines. The restaurant's "panoramic" windows provides a view of the pool that contributes to a relaxing meal. Never had I enjoyed my breakfast as much as I had here.

Directions: Adjacent to SM City Cebu.

    Wasn`t Disappointed

    by

Stayed 2 nights in the standard room.Room was clean spacious, work station was also spacious, bathroom also clean & spacious.Bed was large and comfy.I liked the IPod dock next to the bed(saved me heaps of time having to find my charger to charge the IPhone)

Staff are very friendly, ever helpful nothing was a problem.

The buffet breakfast is good(not as good as the Waterfront Casino) with lots of choices. My opinion is you would be very hard to please if you said the brekkie wasn`t enjoyable.

The pool area is nice, complimentry towels.

The Radission Blu is situated right next to SM Mall thus giving you lots of shopping and eating options for your stay.

After years of visiting Cebu City and seeing the empty shell next to SM,Radisson Blu is a welcome addition to the Cebu City landscape

Unique Quality: As I stated above Radisson Blu is right next to SM Mall giving you lots and lots of eating and shopping options for your stay.

Radisson Blu is also reasonably close to Mactan International Airport.

Go to SM Cebu's Filipiniana gift section.

SM department store in SM Mall is where I usually go for my souvenirs.

Never seen anything in a bottle but there are little painted scenes, key rings and many knick knacks peculiar to the Philippines.

There are mini guitars for sale at many of the tourist spots. You can get full size guitars from a factory on Mactan island.

At the Lapu Lapu shrine on Mactan Island, there are a huge amount of different design shell souvenirs.

Travel Tips for Cebu City

Extra things for Philippines

by Deekbrand

Torch (pocket size)- Electricity cuts are common... You will nearly always find yourself on the way up stairs as it cuts out... As said before, towel... this can also be used for a makeshift cover on long boat trips. Ear plugs if you dont like being woke up at 4pm as the local bird life seems to be set to 'loud'.. Lots of spare memory for camera - Philippinos love being in and taking lots of pictures.. Unlock you phone when at home and buy a pinoy SIM there. Much cheaper.
Taxi drivers are a great source of information if you are looking to find some live music.
Dont use hotels, find pension houses, they tend to be much cheaper and a joy to stay in.
Dont take Scottish money and expect to be able to change it there.. You can, but its not easy..

Taxi Anyone?

by freddie18

I did not take a taxi while I was in Cebu City although it was aplenty. The reason was mainly because I have arranged for a private van on the internet so that I will be able to go around Cebu City at my own pace. Aside from this, going to and around the city is convenient. I used fast ferry in coming back to Cebu from a day tour of Bohol. I used a jeepney to go to Ayala Center from Golden Peak Hotel. There are also tricyle available especially in small streets.

Taking a taxi in Cebu City is easy. The only thing you need to remember if you decide to use one is to hire with a meter. Do not bargain as you will be charged five to ten times the regular fare. This happens if you call a taxi from the airport or the hotel.

Better still, if you want to go around the city and the neighboring towns, use the private van I have posted here. It is safer and you will have a knowledgeable tour guide at the same time. For sure you will enjoy your tour with Eugene and Edna and their team of local tour guides.

Couldn`t believe the difference

by jamiesamui about Yayoy`s Grill & Resto Bar

As the above title says I couldn`t believe the difference & improvements that now made up Yayoy`s

18 mnths earlier this was just your average slightly run down grill & resto bar.Everything about this place before was average.

A walk along the street on the way to a nearby restaurant bought a great surprise & a promise to return & see if it was as good as it looked from the outside.

Yayoys seats around 200 in both an indoor type setting & a garden setting(all undercover).

The ambience is really impressive, staff very willing to help, food very tasty both from the restaurant & grill, some nights there is live entertainment.

The cost here is quite good 3 mains,2 platters of rice, 7 beers & 4 soft drinks cost 850 peso

All round very impressive & next time i`m in Cebu City I will definetly be returning The Tuna Belly was delicious but my absolute favourite was the Beef Pochero. Also I can recommend the Sizzling Gambos.

From an Australian point of view the beer was cold & able to be taken without ice which in the Philippines at times is a rarity.

Magellan's Cross, a History

by freddie18

Magellan's Cross symbolizes the spot where the first Christian Filipinos were baptized. It is a replica that was planted by Magellan, a Portuguese explorer, during his arrival in Year 1521.

It is indeed an interesting experience to visit one of Cebu's most famous landmark. There were approximately 400 people who were first baptized on this site including Raja Humabon and his wife Queen Juana.

Magellan's Cross is a symbol of the city of Cebu and also became the symbol of Roman Catholicism.
This is a "must see" in Cebu City and one of the most famous tourist attraction in the Philippines.
Don't ever miss it!

Magellan's Cross

by nimato

Magellan's Cross is just a few steps from the Basilica Minore del Santo Nino. The original wooden cross which the Spanish conquistador planted in Cebu after baptising Rajah Humabon and some of his people in 1521 is reputedly encased inside the cross that we see today. There are claims that the original cross was already destroyed and that the one inside the kiosk is just a replica of the original. No one really knows.
