Nazz: A Wild Goose Chase!

We really picked the wrong time to be at a loose end in Estancia, as most accommodation around the town was full up with domestic tourists. Our plan had been to stay at Villa Lily, where we had once stayed before, but on our return we found the room we were shown to be dirty, so we refused it and decided to keep looking. Nearby Pa-On "resort" was a disappointment - the receptionist's manner was almost rude, and we were kept waiting for ages only to be shown small shabby rooms in an unfinished building (bare grey plaster walls in need of a coat of paint). The fan rooms was stiflingly hot, so we refused that too.
Getting desperate now, we hired a tricycle to take us around town but most of the little guesthouses were full up.
"Endielina's" (just outside of the town) looked very promising and had a nice seafood restaurant at the front, but all 5 rooms were fully occupied.
Eventually we found "Nazz", which was a little resto/karaoke joint which had a couple of tiny, overpriced rooms out back. Suffering from exhaustion and hunger, we finally gave in and paid P750 for this little nipa hut with aircon.
Towels were not provided, and the bathroom was basic, with bucket flush toilet and no shower or sink.
The restaurant out front serves OK Filipino dishes and cold beer, but we were surprised to learn that the staff had no idea how to make a rum & coke - we ended up teaching them!

Villa Lily: Room With a View

Villa Lily is set at the top of a cliff with a fantastic view of the bay and surrounding islands. The room we had was very basic (just a fan), though there were aircon rooms available. We were the only 'foreigners' staying at the resort - in fact we appeared to be the only foreigners staying in the entire town!
Sadly, a recent repeat visit found this place to be much more shabby and run down than we remembered it, and we decided not to stay there again.
