The most popular accomodation in Guimaras is Raymen's Beach Resort. Aside from tourists, locals are also flocking this area.
Reservations for Raymen is fairly easy. You just have to call the reservations and you're all set, no need for deposits. Because there are no deposits given, What they do is to call or text you a day before you check in to confirm that you really are coming, basic but effective.
The room that was given to us was brand new at the second floor of the building, I don't have any complains about it. It's clean, brand new and they don't complain when we kept forgetting our key inside our room haha!
Unique Quality: They have a really nice beach front and you can go night swimming too because they put up bright lights. Another great thing in Raymen is their Mango shake--Go try them when you got the chance
Raymen Resort has improved so much since my first visit in 2002. They now have a new building on the West side of the resort that caters to the more discriminating in taste. A room cost about $65 with 2 double beds, a table, flat screen TV, air con, hot and cold bath, sets of linens and toiletries. Me and my parents together with four kids stayed last 13-14 April 2012.
The best thing about the resort is its friendly and courteous staff ever ready to assist you. And the biggest plus is the canteen/cafeteria that serves delectable dishes at very affordable rates. The cafeteria caters to the luxurious traveler to the budget conscious tourists.
They also have their own outrigger boat that can take you island hopping for a minimal fee of about $10 for the first hour and additional $3.5 for each additional hour. The max rate per boat is about $23 (for 20 people) for the first hour and additional $3.5 for each additional hour. Rates can be negotiated.
If you are lucky, like us, you might stumble upon a fisherman that sells freshly catched lobsters for $15 a kilo and have it cooked at the cafeteria for $3.5.
The resort housed all the triathletes for the annual Mango Man Triathlon (Guimaras being the province that produces the sweetest mangoes in the country).
I will surely be back this year or early next year.
Exchange rate used is Php43.00 = $1
Unique Quality: friendly and courteous staff, reasonably priced food with lots of choices and variety, new rooms completely furbished, reasonable rates, the surrounding is well kept
Directions: Best to take a multicab (non-aircon minibus vehicle that can fit 12 people) from Jordan wharf for $11 to enjoy the gentle and cool fresh breeze of the countryside. Travel time is about 30 minutes from Jordan wharf.
We went to this resort on Feb 23, 2012. We were a group of three, me, my wife and 3 year old daughter. We came from La Puerta Al Paraizo. The reasons why we transferred here is because it is a good jump off point for island hopping, they have a decent restaurant and they have television with cable which apparently is important for my wife. They have two builidings, the East wing and the West wing. We stayed at the west wing which is newer. Their staff were quite friendly. The resort serves good food which were reasonably priced. Their bathrooms were clean, water were strong. Room was OK, typical but with 32 inch LCD TV with cable. Beach area was OK too.
Unique Quality: Decent restaurant which is not very expensive. Clean Comfortable rooms with 32 inch LCD TV with Cable. Friendly staff. Your typical family resort in Guimaras island.
Directions: Just ask the locals, they will know where it is.
After reading blog reviews on resorts in Guimaras Island, hubby decided that we stay at Raymen Beach Resort in Alubihod, Nueva Valencia. Land travel to Raymen Beach is 40-45 minutes from Jordan Wharf.
We stayed in an airconditioned room for 2. The P1,350/night room has no TV, but it was clean and offered a comfortable bed, and hot & cold shower. The towels were thick and fluffy, but the bedsheets and pillow cases could be better. Other amenities included 2 bottles of mineral water, toilet paper, 2 pieces of small soap and 2 sachets of shampoo.
Raymen has its own restaurant so we didn’t have to go out and search for food. Having read reviews about their slow service at the restaurant, we ordered our choice of food for our meals way ahead of time so we didn’t encounter any problem. Concierge service is commendable; everyone was nice to us. I would recommend this resort to my relatives and friends.
The resort has neither website nor email address, but they can be reached thru their landline and mobile phone numbers.
Unique Quality: Raymen Resort, being nestled in a cove-like area, has tranquil waters. The beach line boasts of pinkish-beige fine sand, clean and clear blue waters, and a nice panoramic view of the islets. There are other beach resorts nearby, but Raymen’s swimming area is enclosed with nets that trap jellyfishes, thus considered ideal for swimming, lounging and beach sports/games.
Aside from accommodating tourists in their rooms, Raymen also offers cottages for day trippers, and provides venue for live-in seminars/ workshops, conferences, wedding reception, team building and other group celebrations/activities.
We chose Raymen because it is more famous from the rest in Sitio Alubihod. We reserved for a standard A/C room for P1,400.00. It is very kind for them to allow us to have an early check in without any additional charge. They gave us Room #5 and it is the topmost accommodation of Raymen. The room has a cabinet with a 2 hanger, a small table with a drawer, 2 beds with thin sheets and 2 plastic chairs. TV and Hot/cold shower is not included for Standard A/C rooms. But we didn't mind because we will stay for only 1 night but what made us hate the room was the noise coming from the Air conditioner plus the drainage problem on the toilet. I suggest not taking room number 5. It has a small veranda but not good to stay there because of the installed Air conditioner. Their deluxe room is far nicer and more comfortable and it’s recommended to those who will stay for a couple of days. Every room has cable TV, hot/cold shower and a table with two chairs right outside your room. Raymen is wifi ready but not free.
We didn't have any problem on food because they have their own canteen that serves variety of meals in big servings. They have Filipino breakfast like beef tapa, tocino with egg etc for only P85.00. You can order chicken, pork, fish, shrimp, vegetables and you can tell them to cook it the way you like it. At night the order is until 7 PM only and the canteen is open up to 9 PM. In case you still want to buy something after closing time, there's a small store located near the open cottages
The resort also arrange Island hopping activity but they only have 2 boats so it is a first come first serve basis but there are other boats available in Alubihod for the same price.
Their information attendant was very helpful and accommodating and that is 2 thumbs up for us.
Directions: Tell the driver to drop you at the crossing going to Alubihod from there take tricycle to Sitio Alubihod. The fare is P10.00 for each person.
All in all, it was an ok stay. I just wish they could put thicker blankets as well as a bath mat in the bathroom. Somehow though, I get the feeling that their staff is not very accommodating--the other guests are more friendly. Oh, and signal on the cellphone is not very strong, you actually have to go to the beach just to call and send a text message.
The beach is nice, but not overly so because of the amount of stones and corals lining the shore, but it makes for a good exercise ground for your morning walk. For vacationers on a budget who do not have a lot of needs, then maybe this is the place for you.
Unique Quality: The beach is good for pictorials with friends.
My husband and I stayed at Raymens from March 19-21. This is the worst hotel we have stayed in. They rent out picnic huts, wherein occupants can drink and sleep These picnic huts are located in front of the fan rooms. Our room was also located beside the shower rooms. Just imagine the amount of noise we had to bear. The owner MRS ESTAYA HAD A DONT CARE ATTITUDE. Her staff, Maria even increased our rate by 100 pesos, just like that. Very unprofessional! And they even charge for towels.
The owner should separate the hotel from the picnic huts. A hotel should be quiet and private.
RAYMEN SHOULD NOT LEASE OUT ROOMS, BECAUSE ITS LIKE A MARKET PLACE. According to the guard of the resort, he had already told Mrs Estaya about the complaints from guests, but she doesn,t give a damn, she just wants money rolling in.
We decided to leave on 21Mar instead of 22 Mar, because we couldn't bear the noise anymore. We transfered to the Villa Igang which was the best decision we made.
Unique Quality: They just have a good beach area. THATS IT.
Directions: From Jordan Wharf take a jeep or tricycle going to Nueva Valencia, turn right at the crosssing
Unique Quality: Raymen is mainly a beach resort for overnight stay with available fan and aircon rooms. The resort has no pool but boasts of fine, white sand beach with a fantastic view of neighboring islands.
Fan rooms starts at P600 up to P2000, depending on the number of people it can accommodate.
Airconditioned rooms starts at P1200 up to P1600.
Day beach outings also possible as open picnic huts are available from P150 to 400, depending on size.
Directions: take 40-minute jeepney ride bound for Nueva Valencia from Jordan port in Guimaras, then hire a tricycle for Alubihod beach.
When we arrived they were fully booked, as there was a student party going on. So we stayed elsewhere that night but the next day we returned and the students were leaving, be warned that students have loud music all night long. We had an aircon room with 2 double beds for P1,000 which was good value but no hot water. The only problem with our room was the noise of water dripping from upstairs aircon onto our aircon. The semi dettached cottages are small, have no mosquito mesh or nets and poor value at P800 and can be very noisy. The new restaurant was very good and prices seemed reasonable at about P100/150 a meal. Fresh fish is recommended. Tricycle from Jordan is about P200 but back to Jordan will cost about P400.
Unique Quality: Good clean, safe beach with life guard. The food is good. The aircon rooms are reasonable value. Some of the staff are very helpful and nice.
located along alubihod beach..the most popular beach resort in guimaras...lots of available rooms...from fan rooms to air conditioned rooms...fan rooms ranges from P400 ($7.3) to P800 ($14.5) while aircon rooms ranges from P1,000 ($18.18) to P2,400 ($43.6) per night... we had paid P1,000 for the room (good for 4 persons) and additional P200 (for the beddings of excess person) for an overnight stay...check out is at 12 noon regardless of check in time..
pros: white sand beach, newly built rooms, clean rooms and beddings, affordable accomodation and food..variety of choices..
cons: not so accomodating staff..
Unique Quality: comfortable rooms
Directions: 45 minutes travel by land from Jordan Port, Guimaras.
